  • In this video we swap out the tires on both our trucks, 2020 Toyota tacoma and 1997 Toyota 4runner. The Open Country A/T III all-terrain tire delivers gripping off-road traction with responsive and predictable on-road handling. With a strong focus on wet performance, durability and treadwear life, Toyo introduces advances in tread design, construction and all-new tread compounding. It also provides a quiet ride with exceptional stability. The Open Country A/T III is built to get there and get back home, regardless of terrain or weather. Available in LT-Metric, P/Euro-Metric and Flotation sizes.

Great review. Just installed some 315 75 16 Toyo AT3 tires for my 1993 FZJ80 Toyota Land Cruiser. Couldn’t be more satisfied. I’ve noticed, right from the beginning, is they are so much more quieter than the KANATI Trail Hogs that were replaced.

I had 3 sets of Toyo AT2's get treadwear warrantied. At only 29,000-32,000 miles they were at wear bars. Alignments were dead on, rotated every 3,000, just wore horrible. And they sucked in snow terribly. The AT3's don't have a high bar to beat...

I put 4 Toyo’s on my ‘12 FJB Edition FJCruiser 2 months ago. I do mostly highway commuting as it’s my DD. I have about 2k miles on them. Been through some heavy rain with absolutely no loss of traction. I have yet to go off road but in due time I most certainly will. I love the tires! The only thing I could recommend for aesthetic purposes only would be raised white letters to add to the cool factor.

I'll give you my experience with the Toyo ATIII tire. I put a pair on my GMC in Dec. 20 when first released. They are fantastic in the snow. Last year, I used 4x4 less than previous years reverting to rear wheel drive only in some serious snow conditions up here in the mountains of ID. I find these tires to be fantastic. Cannot speak for noise, cause I did not have a true AT tire before the Toyos were installed. But nothing of a problem. They are great in dry, wet and any trail I have traveled. Wear appears to be very good.
Ii will have no hesitation to replace my tires on my new vehicle with the ATIII when my new vehicle is finally delivered.

I was looking for some 3PMSF rated tires for my 2020 Dodge Durango GT AWD. They are a little big for the size. So I went from a 265/50-20 T rated, to a 255/55-20 H rated tire. The traction in rain, snow and ice is very good. At 56,000 miles, more than half the tread is left. On smooth roads they are noisier than the stock Bridgestones. But on alligator and other rough pavements. The Toyos are a significant improvement over the Bridgestones. In most all conditions.
When the Toyos do wear out. I will replace them with General HTS60 tires. I have AutoSock traction devices for the States that are picky about the 3PMSF rating.

I've had great results with the toyo rt on a heavy 6.0 diesel F350. Snow, sand, mud had great traction, and quiet with good road manners. No spinning when wet, quiet to the end. I'm debating at3 for it's three peak rating, but had such good experiences with the rt, that I've already bought a second set for my other diesel f250. Now I want to try the at3, but should probably stick with what I know works good on these trucks. Both on 35 12.50's, and feel, handle, wear awesome all over. Worlds better than Micky, BFG and other no name china bombs I've run before.

I just did the same swap... 275 60R20 BFG to 35 x 12.5 x 20 Toyo AT III on my Ram 1500. They are a chunky tire compared to the smaller K02 I was running, but look great and ride fantastic. I liked the K02 a lot as well, until they started to wear. At about 50% the compound seemed to get pretty iffy in the rain. Just not as good as they were, which was very good.
They are not overly loud on the highway either (Toyo AT III), and ride firm and solid. The new lift helped and the Bilstein shocks and struts helped. So far, very impressed.

My Denali is heavy from stereo weight being at about 950 pounds and 20x10 275/55 tires. The did phenomenal but wasn’t aggressive enough for me. Went with the new Mickey Thompson Baja boss At. They are definitely heavy and having balance issues. Ima try again when I get new wheels. Also disappointed to see the syping gets significantly smaller as they wear. Pretty sure ima try out some general grabber atx tires next. If anyone has feedback on the general atx tires I’d greatly appreciate it.

i used to have them on my sierra. they are really nice off-road but the open country at3s on my truck right now we’re more grippy in every way except for really thick mud. the grabbers were louder tire but a really good looking tire. The open country at3 is the best tire i’ve had so far and the quietest. bfg ko2s are louder so it caught me off guard when he said they at3 made more noise

The OEM KO2 from the factory on my Rubicon were complete junk. One tire failed in less than 29,000 miles and had internal ply separation causing thumping at city traffic speeds after 100% street & highway driving. Had a suspension lift done and installed Toyo Open Country MT 37x12-1/2. A world of difference in noise on pavement - the Open Country MTs are very quiet (much quieter than KO2) considering how aggressive the tread pattern is. Highly recommend it!!!

I'm doing the same thing. My KO's were ok IMO, I had went from GY Duratrac's to KO's 3+ years ago. But for the price, I knew they were nothing special. Ordered my AT3's today. Getting them installed in a couple of days. Going on a 09 Liberty (lifted 3inch). Also switching from a 265 to 245/70 because the 265/70's are just a tad to wide and they rub the rear fender flair and I refuse to trim/cut them up. Looks like the AT3's are just as good as the KO's.

BFG's are outdated. Toyo At3's or Falken wildpeaks are a much better choice. We sold about 350 Toyo tires in 2022. Well likely do more than that this year, quality tires.

BFG KO2 AND K3 ALL ARE TERRIBLE ON WET PAVEMENT OR CONCRETE HIGHWAYS. TOYO TIRES ARE MADE FROM A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RUBBER COMPOUND THAN BFG. THAT IS WHY TOYOS ARE MORE THAN ALMOST ALL OTHER TIRES.
YOU WANT TOP QUALITY TIRE RESEARCH , DEPENDABILITY, AND LONGEVITY, THAT IS TOYO . BUT THAT COMES WITH A PRICE.
BUT JUST REMEMBER TIRES AND BRAKES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT 2 COMPONENTS ON ANY VEHICLE, NEVER GO CHEAP ON EITHER ❤ !

Not really sure about lighter but the at has to be a bit heavier depending which pkybyou buy. The at is also meant to handle offroad and we've definitely put them to the test. The ht really aren't meant for that and are mainly a road and highway tire.

I'm super happy with my KO2s but i would've gotten Toyos if they were any cheaper..they were the same price and i wanted the E rating for going over super rocky terrain in the california desert. Makes more sense for the kind of offroading i wanna do. But i think Toyos might be the superior all around tire.. But those damn KO2s just look so aggressive and fit that 90s baja look. I just love them. So far the ride has exceeded my expectations despite the complaints i've heard about them.
