    (This method can just as easily be used in full 10x20 trays)
    Wheatgrass is often used for juicing or added to smoothies. Wheatgrass provides a concentrated amount of nutrients, including iron, calcium, magnesium, amino acids, chlorophyll, and vitamins A, C and E.
    Wheatgrass fans say that its rich nutrient content boosts immunity, kills harmful bacteria in the digestive system, and rids the body of wastes.

    Hey, thanks so much for this video! I just subscribed to your page! I do have a question concerning my small wheatgrass plant. I am growing it inside of our house, since its still very winterlike here. We are growing it to feed to our guinea pigs, but our basement is always pretty wet. Therefore, we frequently have a gnat problem here. When they get into my aloe, lavender or spider plants, I often times use a little hydrogen peroxide or neem oil to eliminate them. Are either of those things ok for a wheatgrass plant? Especially one that will be fed to our guinea pigs? Thanks again!😊

    My cats go NUTS NUTS NUTS AND NUTS for this stuff! 😂i could only afford to buy it every once in a while for them bc petsmart sells it for $8 a square and it dies literally the next day or 2 if im lucky so its basically a waste of money. They absolutely love it though! So i found a grocery store that has it in the organic section, and it's $5 basically. The one I bought has lasted over 3 days now which is a success 😂but i can tell we only have a day or two left, so im researching how to maybe make my own. I live in a small apartment but i do have room to grow some. Thanks for the steps! Im across the country so i cant buy from you directly, but I definitely would if i were anywhere near you guys. Thanks again! Hopefully it works out! 😅

      Our Bengal boys LOVE their wheatgrass too! I'm happy to hear that you're willing to grow it for your kitties too! The prices that these big chains charge is insanity, especially with the quality. Good Luck & Feel free to ask questions if you run into any challenges along the way! :)

    Hi guys! I'm loving your videos. I was wondering about the wheatgrass after germination and a heavy water, what's the watering schedule like for bottom watering the next 7 Days under light?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 роки тому +1

      We give it that heavy top water the first day out of germination and then bottom water daily after that. There are some days where they don't need water, or sometimes they just need less water. Most of that can be determined by feeling the weight of the tray, looking if the soil looks wet still, and knowing if the temperature has been lower or humidity higher some point.

    This is fascinating. I’m working on a plan to make my backyard a fun place for my puppies as they grow this grass is a perfect addition! Thank you for this! My only question would be where do you get the seeds? You posted in winter so I’m assuming you can start these and keep them in a garage?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 роки тому +2

      We get our organic wheatgrass seeds from True Leaf Market. They always have excellent quality & the pricing is very reasonable. :) bit.ly/3is3Gds
      These will grow a bit more slowly in colder temperatures. We plant in the garage, but germination & growing are done in a more temperature controlled area at 72-74 degrees. They'll grow at lower temps, but not as quickly.
      Good luck with the puppies- I'm sure they'll love having fresh wheatgrass!!

    hi there. i have been growing my wheatgrass outside but its been getting in the 85's and humid. i notice mold at the bottom when its grown. is that not safe to juice even if you cut above it? im thinking to get a fan thats always on during the day to allow more air flow, and buy ZEROTOL to do as you mentioned during growing process. is it not safe (for ingestion) to spray with zerotol once you notice mold?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 роки тому +3

      Airflow is definitely important, especially as the temperature rises! A fan may help.
      Zerotol is essentially Hydrogen Peroxide & Vinegar mix in a more concentrated & consistent formula. Once dry, it is completely safe!

    When you say 8 oz a tray, or 1 oz per 5x5, is that a wet/sprouted ounce or a dry pre soaked oz? How much dry seed do you soak per tray?
    You guys are awesome! Thx!

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  Рік тому +1

      We always weigh pre-soaked. 👍
      So, we soak 8oz per 1020 tray then divide it up after soaking into the 8 5x5s.

      Zerotol is an OMRI Listed disinfectant/fungicide that leaves no harmful residue. It's a great option if you are battling mold even with environmental controls in check. amzn.to/44xQAQq

    What instructions do you leave the pet store/pet owners on how to care for the wheatgrass?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 роки тому +3

      We water thoroughly before delivery to stores so they don't have to really worry about watering, but we do leave them on a tray that we'll collect the next week so they can bottom water them if necessary (though they rarely need to- they usually sell out before needing water)
      We suggest to people that they water the wheatgrass every other day or so by placing it in a dish of water for a few minutes. We have a small flyer with instructions in the store placed by the wheatgrass display. 🌱

    Do you sell them just in the slotted 5by 5 or do you add a 5by 5 without holes - so the roots aren’t poking out and exposed?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  9 місяців тому +2

      We just sell them with the roots exposed. Because we fill the 5x5 trays with medium, the roots aren't too long usually. Many of our stores display them in one of our 1020 shallow trays to keep the countertops clean. (They keep the trays and trade them out with us each week)

    How did you water the wheat grass after it was done fully growing? Does it need more water?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  Місяць тому

      We bottom water only after the initial first top watering.
      The amount and timing can vary depending on your growing medium as you want them to stay hydrated, but oversaturation can quickly cause mold in wheatgrass.

    What is the Best way to eat (juice) Wheatgrass?

    • @IttyBittyMicroFarm
      @IttyBittyMicroFarm  2 роки тому

      A cold-press juicer is best- it will get all the nutrition squeezed out in a delicious juice. We add an Orange & banana to each flat of juice for an amazing flavor & nutrition addition.
