Cossacks' Dance (composer unknown) Vyacheslav Korobko conducting the Alexandrov Ensemble/Ансамбль Александрова/Red Army Choir Performed in Jerusalem, Israel, 1992.
What an amazing displace of grace, coordination, and sheer muscular power. It might look a little goofy at times, but this is truest a spectacle of peak human condition and training.

Cossack dancing: the only situation in which it is acceptable for a Slav to squat without both heels on the ground. Sorry, babushka, but I can't come to dinner today because I'm watching the Cossack dances!
I was a member of the USMC Silent Drill Team, and we threw around 10 lb M-1s with bayonets like baton twirlers. I have to say that I would not have trusted any of my friends not to have killed me with one of these swords. Ochen korosho, Tovarichniki!

I miss doing this type of dance. It has been 8 years since I performed with my group, but watching these guys really makes me want to get back into it.
That was....un-freakin' believable......Every time I watch something with the Red Army, I get blown away. My jaw was literally hanging open from almost beginning to end. AMAZING!!!!!!

That joke is not funny anymore. It kind of works with germans facing the french but russians, really? Who pulled back and burned his own land, waiting for general Winter to destroy the ennemy's army? If anything, the french are prone to get cocky and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in complete fail actions (see battle of Waterloo) But please, stop with the coward joke, I bet you didn't even laugh while writing it.
French cowardly is actually stereotype enforced by American media during Vietnam war for French not joining with their American allies. It has stuck since then as a funny stereotype joke.
Milevan21 It's the same with the Italians during WW2. It's just a light Humoren joke referring often to WW2 or another war. It's like the joke "How do you get Americans to fight a war?" "You tell them it's almost over."
Cossacks were famed for their horsemanship, military valor, and ferocity; I know the galloping motion symbolizes the horsemanship, but the only way this dance could define the Cossacks more is if it had ACTUAL horses in it.
Con disciplina el cuerpo humano puede transformarse en una máquina, no se necesitan drogas ni experimentos humanos, eso sí, si no te alimentas bien vas a lastimarte.
The name of the music is Tachanka, it's soviet and talks about the invention of a cart-drawn machine gun invented by an ukrainian anarchist named nestor makhno in 1917
I don't know why but every time I see one of these perfectly executed dances I imagine a sniper pointing at the dancers and saying "ooh yeah, don't forget to smile"
Me and some buddies were on leave once when I was in the Army and we were just hours away from Russia. So we jumped a bird and went. Had a blast and we ran into an OG Russian who was doing this dance in a pub. So we watched a dance off between that old Russian and our Medic (crip walks like a pro). Good fucking times.
The song at the beginning and the refrain is "Tachanka", a revolutionary song sung by the riders of the gun-carts in the Russian Civil War. Still, a great dance though.
I read that Cossack Dancing was originally formed to scare away enemies going in to war. Could someone explain to me how anyone would be scared of seeing this? Someone waving a sword in my direction would have instantly been 'shot'
The real cossack dance was based of sabre dance. Cossacks were able to spin sabres at unbelivable speed . I think if you would see someone doing that you would run away. Just find at YT "dance of cossack girl with a sword - Arkona..." you wil understand
