Folk music of the Soviet Union the Soviet Army, Chorus, Band and Dance Ensemble performs a wide variety of Russian dances and songs.
This rare and historic program was filmed on location in the former Soviet Union The brilliant ensemble consisted of about 200 entertainers including a choir and choreographic troupe, who traveled the front lines, entertaining Soviet troops by performing more than 1500 concerts during World War II.

This Red Army Ensemble Production is certainly among the greatest performances of the past century.
Of that there is no doubt---- its truly timeless in its excellence.
The performers, the cinematography, the choreography, is all one for the ages.
I've seen Cossack dancing before but this is my favorite piece. It shows so many variations of dance and incredible energy and discipline as well as humor. Just awesome.

I know this is a late reply, but actually, with practice, you can manage it, Like, it was easier for me to learn it as I always do the squat kick, but with the squat downward, it was a lot easier when you are more experienced with these kinds of exercises
@Ho Lam YIU just grab on to something, start kicking, then once you can do it continuously, try letting go. If it doesn't work try again. It takes pratice.
Honestly, that was one of the easier solos in the dance, just looks really impressive

Съёмка происходила на Воробьёвых горах (в ту пору Ленинских) перед МГУ, на самой кромке перед обрывом, с великолепной панорамой Москвы. Съёмку вела студия ТВ ФРГ (Западной Германии). Съёмка была уникальная: с одного дубля снимали 6 камер, танцоры танцевали только 1 раз, а потом они монтировали. Ни одна советская кино или тв студия не работали так, пленка была дорогая. А немцы берегли труд актёров.

Это постановка выдающегося украинского хореографа ПАВЛА ВИРСКОГО. Есть идея..., и как она раскрыта !!! К сожалению сейчас делают пляски, и не знают, что такое... идея ! И как ее воплотить ! Вирский первым в 1967 году поставил на народном ансамбле одноактный балет "Октябрьская легенда"... Вирский без идеи танцев никогда не ставил, часто переделывая сценарии и либретто.. Он еще был и великим режиссером....Вот вся величина ВИРСКОГО !!!

This must be the most difficult dance out there! Just the extreme pressure on the knees amazes me! I used to do one movement of it, sitting and moving my legs forward, one at a time, but no longer!
Wow! If it was not for the Zaprozhen Cossacks I doubt there would be a free Ukraine today. The Basically fought the Poles, Russians, and Turks...at different times and in different strategical ways.

Tonight I saw Russian style dancing for the first time at a live performance near me. I had never seen it before and was AMAZED at the athleticism and strength of the dancers. Their performance impressed us very much. I've been watching more Russian style dancing tonight to learn more. Amazing dancers and ability, absolutely amazing.

Its russian. The current ukraine. Got attached crimea in 1954 by krutchev. And current east south ukraine by lenin 1922. Only in a ussr context
Once ussr got sepetated. Ukraine should had lost those russian territory annex. It was only attached administrativly in a ussr context

It’s clear the choreographer played to the dancers strengths, utilising the dancers most well practiced moves as part of the piece. It’s a shame you don’t see the same vigour in modern day dancers, possibly to do with the low testosterone level in men now a day.
Instead there are manly women. Lol.
