Thanks for sharing. Any plans for you to get involved further with the game ?
You are an amazing racing driver in your own right. Never mind the stig. You have raced for real and not just on top gear
@@mountjoy23 Ben is our Chief Handling Consultant. He's working directly with us (as he did with our Project CARS series) on Project Motor Racing.
@@IanBlimey We know Ben worked with you guys for Project Cars, but why were some cars good in the sim others were underivable, Will this be addressed in the new sim ?
@@glutenfreesr9858 Which cars were undrivable for you?
Tonight the stig drives a car
*an car
Tonight Stig drives a "Racing" car
A cool car indeed.
*Drives a unicorn 🦄
I read that in Jeremy Clarksons voice 😂
It's hyper impressive that we get commentary and a history lesson while he's learning the car!
I try haha!
@@BenCollinsDrives Fantastic work as always. Can't wait for you to get your hands on a Panoz GTR 1, in my wishful thinking.
A TVR Speed 12 would be incredible!
@@BenCollinsDrives Try?! You succeeded!
Man, I’m so happy that Ben is pumping out this content that’s super accessible. Clearly Ben was Top Gear’s greatest export.
He really was. I have been so impressed by how good Ben is in front of the camera. His commentary is all the better coming from someone with his ability and genuine understanding of the vehicles he drives, but he is also so comfortable and relaxed. I have made tongue in cheek comments in the past that Ben would have been an excellent James Bond, but I have a strong feeling that he really could have played JB as well as anyone, plus he could do all his own driving stunts.
@@TrevorDennis100 don't forget his open mindedness when it comes to getting into Sim racing over on his other channel. He ain't no fuddy duddy!
This guy was on Top Gear?
I'm a bit of a troglodyte,@@StephenMcGregor1986, but even I've heard of The Stig. _Collins was The Stig._
There's just something magical about 80's 90's obscure "parts bin special" supercars.
Absolutely agreed , I think automobile racing reached it's pinnacle during those 2 decades specially the close contest without much driver's add electronics. Miss those times.
The best era!!
Can't explain how much I love 'parts bin special' cars. They're so raw it's ridiculous.
Lister, Viper and 550/575 great era brought to life in GTR/GTR2 - good to see there’s likely a refresh on the way.
I remember watching my older brother play gtr2 all the time back in the day. He did the 24 hour race and let the computer run all night. My mom didn’t understand why was the game playing itself though 😂.
What a beast, gaming definitely helped get this car recognised.
Man don't even start me on the old gran turismos as a kid ❤
It did! Can't wait to see it appearing again in a game.
This and the TVR Speed 12 always spring to mind when I think of GT2 on the PS1. ❤
Loved it when the Demo of GTR came out and it was a Lister Storm at Spa if i remember right. Abslutely mental change from earlier games. The thing they nailed best was the sound, it was glorious.
Gaming made people think that this ,the speed 12 and the 787 were alot better than they actually were. They were lovely cars but mythical is alot better than the term legendary that normally gets used around them, because alot of it is exactly that, myth
I miss this car in GT7, it's about time they make it for the game. I saw it live when i was younger. I was sold 😂
I love this car my whole life. Never will forget moment standing next to it in FIA GT Brno and hearing that incredible sound :)
One of my favorite cars to drive in GTR 2 game. The first video I ever uploaded to my channel was me driving this around Spa in GTR2 at night.
Never clicked faster in my life. The Stig, the lister v12? YES PLEASE
Being a Newcastle fan and Sim racer, i loved the 2 Lister Storm's in the Newcastle Utd liveries at Le Mans
Yeah I saw them 96 and 97; fantastic
Judging by a quick google, and the number on the side - this was one of them?
That kerb photo is absolutely glorious, nothing better than having a memory caught at the exact moment, i have several on my wall in my office
The noise..the presence..what a machine..you said it,absolute icon.
The noise is INSANE.
Thanks man!
My ex Boss was Richard Gardner who Helped Lister for a number of years. We use to MOT the road cars at our garage in Ashtead. I still have a number of singed pictures on my wall and one of the wheels as a coffee table in my lounge. What a great car and great memories. Thank you. 👍👍
Every time I see this beauty it just brings me back to my childhood playing gran turismo 3, that yellow and green livery was the best 😍
At 16:21 in the video he said the car was on 2 wheels but if you pause it the car is on one wheel ! 😱
And that photo is not from Spa.But still nice to see.
What a car, what an engine, wow, that noise from the V12!!❤❤❤
I love the GT1 car era. It was most likely the last time I watched every race live on Eurosport. Amazing memories.
21:54 Just the Stig talking about the Lister Storm in front of a Lamborghini Diablo, a Ferarri F50, and a GMA T.50, while pointing at a Jaguar XJ220 off screen that the camera man didn't even bother looking at.
Keep is casual.
Fantastic review of an epic GT1 car from my childhood Ben. I remember going to Silverstone and watching the Lister Storm’s racing in the FIA GT series around 1997. Amazing looking and sounding machines. Probably the best Storm review video on UA-cam. Well done 👌
Thanks for the kind words!
This car was always my favourite when we made GTR :) Nice to see a clean example still lives.
Seeing my childhood Stig drive childhood cars from TV and video games is sensational content, full of grown up nostalgia. It's stuff like this that inspired me to create my own content. Props for sharing so much whilst driving hard too!
THIS is the footage I'd love to see more of. You driving both race and road cars with this POV-style of filming with both history and driving info. Love it!
I was there at Le Mans 95 so will never forget these awesome cars. thank you.
This was a GT2 car
I saw the thumb nail and clicked without even looking or seeing who it was . Gran turismo this is my ultimate car memory from that game
I always thought this car looked like the front half of a Ferrari F40 and the back half of a 355... Thanks for the trip down memory lane !
100% GTR/GTR2 vibes. Straight 4 Studios could do themselves a favor and study what made those two titles more special than any other GT racing sim.
Ian Bell was part of the original GTR2 development team, so its a follow up Sim.
We're the same team mostly. I have a large percentage of the GTR guys here at Straight4 who have been with me through all of the games. GTR, GT Legends, GTR2, Shift, Shift 2, Project Cars 1,2 and 3 and now Project Motor Racing. They are where our talent is and we're going back to roots with this next one.
@@IanBlimey I had no idea, but now you really got my attention! Imo the biggest flaws in all new titles are the lack of focus on just one series, type and era of cars, then there is the problem of releasing flawed buggy beta version content. If you can bring a well sorted, gt racing series with a fully simulated endurance championship focused on the era up until a decade ago you will find a dedicated hardcore group of fans and avoid becoming just another title in an already overcrowded casual racing game market.
@@IanBlimey Brilliant!
Interesting @@IanBlimey
It would be a dream come true to drive alongside you. Thank you for for all the entertainment over all the years. You really gave us a window into how these cars would feel.
Live long and prosper.
It must be nice going around saying: " Hi, I'm the Stig let me drive your car." And get a 'yes' as answer most of the time.
he probably adds value to the car if hes photo'd in it 😂
I don’t see James May, Tiff Needell or Micheal Schumacher here.
well.. some of the time :)
Epic episode. What a beast of a motor with a massive pedigree. Great drive, sir
Glad you enjoyed!
Ha... Another hard day in the office eh? Great drive and review Ben, many thanks!
This is AN CAR holy moly I loved this thing in Gran Turismo
AN CAR.
Best driver on youtube...thanks for taking us on the ride Ben
Ben being a driver really helps with his videos - no extraneous info, just what we need to know. Getting to see him drive and his excellent presentation skills makes it even better.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Such a great racing driver. Only ben can be fkat out in a race car while explaining the history of the car and racing. What a legend you are Ben
very nice car, the sound is amazing, the straight teeth gearbox sound is sooo nice :3
Ben this video is QUALITY! Had a lil Lister scalextric in this livery as a kid, and it’s mega to see it in action. What a thing.
New favorite channel.
If you enjoy this, you probably will like Robbert Alblas, they also have tons of onboard footage of various racers
@karelpgbr thanks!!! I'll check it out for sure
What a throwback. That induction sound from the inside is magical! Seems like it has the hammer in it, a little stomp on the pedal it will go! From your experience, the name seems to be a pun. Storming through smoothly!
It's such a wild ride.
Watched this exact car for years. Loved it
It's iconic!
Ben mate, pure gold, I’ve had my Lister Le Mans for 25 yrs plus, dont see much on Listers , it’s bit like the forgotten British super car, great video.
I remember one of these coming round the outside of Coram past my Caterham Vauxhall like I wasn’t moving. Frightened the crap out of me.
One of the best race drivers to ever live. How F1 didn't snap you up I'll never know. Quite frankly it's a bloody outrage.
Fantastic video Ben 🎉 fantastic driving !!!! looks like an F40 on steroids 😂
Yeah 😆
No turbos but still a beast!
I haven't thought about the Lister Storm in years. Watching this video brought me back to playing Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit in the late 90's on PC with one of the first steering wheels available at the time. Awesome car, great video and, again, delivered with genuine enthusiasm. Thanks, Ben!!
As a young lad, I was lucky enough to sit in a Lister Storm at Silverstone during the LG Super Racing Weekend. I believe it was Jamie Campbell-Walter's car. It must have just come in from a session, I can't quite remember, but it was roasting hot in the cockpit, lol! I remember remarking something along the lines of "Does it have an air conditioner?" and the driver laughing and saying something like "I wish it did! That's the air conditioning there (pointing to a duct), the air sometimes comes in, but it's conditional!".
Gorgeous car, one of my all-time favourite GT cars!
In the 90’s I used to see a road based Lister storm outside Fred’s Chinese in Retford Notts nearly every Saturday night. It sounded glorious and looked space age
Wow, that's a name I didn't hear in a long time. But the car was so iconic I recognized it immediately :D
Nice to see it moving and thank you for the history lesson :)
Top video ! Proud to see my archive video 😊 hope to see this beast soon on historic series
Graphic Designers do a bit more than just letterheads!!!! Thanks Ben!!!!
Very nice sound
Much love to the stig❤💪🏼👊🏼
Beast of a car. I had the poster on my bedroom wall 👍✌️🇬🇧
Glad I found your channel, so cool to learn a little bit from these cars and see them in action with a proper pilot. ;)
Welcome aboard!
Ben makes it look so freaking easy
the in car sound bring back my 90s memory playing TOCA touring cars
That thing looks and sounds absolutely incredible
You guys really nail in the in car footage on the race cars (and editing), 700hp in a 2400lb car with so much downforce and 335's on the front, wow! and wow.
I still remember Tiff Needell reviewing this car
It’s was his car his office lol
I cannot say enough how much I love these videos.
Thanks a ton to everyone involved ❤
Driving all my Gran Turismo 2 hero cars. i love it.
Need to find some more to drive!
Loved driving it virtually with GTR2. The sounds in that game and this car...so damn realistic after watching this.
Thanks for the ride along ben!
I reckon Justin Laws is one of the most content people in the motoring world. What a lucky chap! Top work, Ben!! A+++
Couldn't ask for more from an episode! Absolutely fantastic
Your one lucky man!!!! Fair play 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Harder than it looks!
Thank you Stig for such a great drive in this car. From the moment I saw this car I loved the way it looked, way more than the other GT1 cars. I drove it in a sim called GTR1 and GTR2 and it sounded great in there also. I am so glad to see you doing what you love, and seeing one of my favorite memories in action. We didn't get to see them much in USA at the time because there was no internet, and our channels didn't follow anything but Nascar sadly. If it hadn't been for the Simracing game, I would have no idea what that car was. Thanks again Stig!!
Love these videos Ben, my 7 year old autistic boy Jude and me watch them all the time. Brilliant mate….
Glad you're both enjoying the videos!
@@BenCollinsDrivessee the fact you take the time to reply, even more amazing
I remember seeing this at donnington park as a kid around the year 2000, racing against TVRs, loud as hell!
Thanks for the video. I just love that Gt1 era. Just so much more exiting than the GT3's we have today.
legend car. love it!
Same here man.
I'm am one of those people who know the Lister Storm from games and I thought it was the coolest car in the game. I can't remember what I played, but there was a McLaren F1 race car available in the same class and was the car to beat, but I wanted to race the Lister most of all. That black livery is iconic to me, genuinely envious of Ben being able to get up close and drive what is an incredibly rare and deeply cool car.
It's like a mythical, unknown, unlockable beast.
In Gt3 its green and yellow, thats my favorite version.
This and the 550 were by far my favorite cars in Simbin's GTR sim. The Murc was also a cool car, but the Lister was just such a blast to drive. Ahhh.... those days :D
This car was sooooo far ahead of its time- LEGENDARY!!! I remember seeing it in a world of Vipers, Ferrari F40’s and McLaren F1 GTR’s and saying “what is that!!!????” Totally the Batmobile on steroids! its engineers KNEW what they were doing! Easily in my top 5 greatest GT cars of all time!! I’ve got almost every version in 1/43 scale, now if only they did a 1/18 scale model- anyone listening out there? Love this car!!!🤘
Cracking video Ben! Who doesn’t love a Lister Storm 😍 Great seeing Justin Law - have missed seeing him at FOS lately.
Tiff raced these back in the day, 24hrs Le Man. Fantastic to see one on track again.
The car sounds so amazing...that Jaguar v12 doesn't purr like a kitten...but roars, and screeches, and growls in all the right ways. I love the Ferrari F136 music, but this 7.0L Jaguar comes quite close to the orgasmic.....
A fantastic looking 90's monster. I can imagine it being quite thirsty with that engine. Great video
That is a raw sounding car!
Sounds fantastic 😮 V12 and straight cut gears 👍
I am building my dream V12 supercar 😎
It's sooooo good
Fantastically enjoyable watch…more please 😊
Speaking to the designer is a great touch. Brilliant stuff Ben. 👍
Glad you think so!
What an absolute weapon of a car! I got to see this thing run at Laguna Seca, back in 97. Awesome stuff! Cheers, Ben!
So sick. Must be epic at Laguna.
Super video, Ben. Great in-car footage, commentary and brilliant interviews; bravo
Love it, don’t know how your commenting on that drive😂 send it and enjoy
Harder than it looks to talk and drive these things!
@@BenCollinsDrives credit to the driver, keep up the content, absolute legend 💪🏼
Thanks for showing us this, Ben. Absolute favourite race car of a time, this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was a fabricator and pit crew at Lister on the car .There are a few inaccuracies in this video.
Julian Baliey was good in the car also rumoured to be the first black Stig
I did an essay at school about the lister storm
What an amazing experience to watch this and imagine. Thanks for a great ride, big cheers 🥂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely brilliant video drop. Love this type of racing. Fast agile and aggressive
I am in the middle of a sleep deprived nasty bout of Influenza, Haven't felt this crap in a long time..... Until Now.
Watched this twice so far volume way up and immersed in the glorious sounds my laptop and Dolby 2.1 system and sub provide.
Cheers Ben and Straight 4 Studios, I feel bloody great now :-)
19:49-21:10. On repeat with max volume. Goosebumps and roargasm. Thank you!
Lister Storm GTL is my favourite!!! I do love this one though👍
Very niche!
Loved this great work lads .Awesome car and sound
What a machine and solid work horse. Fantastic footage and thoroughly enjoyed!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A tyre garage owner in Broxburn owned one of these Lister's, he drove it from Edinburgh Airport to Glasgow airport in 24 minutes !!!!
Hunted by the traffic police he was nearly caught but just made it back to the warehouse and the staff surrounded the car with hundreds of tyres , hidden in plain sight it sat there for years , red in colour when I first saw it I thought ugly ford Capri body kit , then it left me on my Suzuki gxr750 like I was on a moped . 😂
hilarious
Great video . Made by proper professional enthusiasts. Thank you .
We try! Glad you enjoyed it boss.
I remember selecting this car in the GTR 2 sim back in the day because of the sound.
This is one of those cars I'm only vaguely aware of because of Gran Turismo, so I'm chuffed to see and hear it going round a track in the actual metal!
Will keep an eye on Project Motor Racing too, certainly.
Glad to hear it!
Excellent! Beast of a car. Race Sim Studio do an Assetto corsa mod of this car and a few others of that era. You can buy it for a few bucks. Now you should do a virtual lap of Silverstone in the same car, and see how it compares, on your other channel.
Maybe when the game comes out we'll have to do a comparison...
