🤗I have both Mamei and Plowmanii, and yours looks like a Mamei. The Plowmanii leaves have more texture, and are darker, bigger and thicker. Also, the ruffles on the petioles are more prominent on a Plowmanii, and Mamei has more silver on the leaves. But I 100% agree, it's very difficult to tell them apart. To me, the Plowmanii is a Mamei on steroids :D
And here in Australia quite often the P.Silver Cloud is being sold as a Mamei. I guess it doesn’t REALLY matter unless you are selling them so you’d want to be accurate 😊 Thanks for another great vid

Heyho, I just wanna say no matter the species, this is a gorgeous specimen u got there! I tried to have a closer peek at the petioles, which was difficult, but they looked round to me instead of flat and ruffled (mamei and plowmanii have ruffled petioles). So I'm wondering if it may be P. peltatum otherwise known as sodiroi aff. It may also be a pastazanum silver or a cross of mamei/plowmanii with pastazanum. Would love to hear your opinion comparing your plant to the species I named :) I got sold a mamei that was definitely a sodiroi aff/peltatum 2 years ago and it took me a little to find the proper ID. I have recently questioned the difference too. A local nursery owner told me that the Mamei has red blushing in the sinus and the Plowmanii doesn't have the red.
And I would argue it's more other way around 😀 Mamei has slight blush at the sinus area but Plowmanii has more prominent reddish color at sinus. Also Plowmanii has more pronounce ruffles on the petiole (and around the leaves)
In my humble opinion the silver cloud is rounder and the ruffled petiole is more pronounced also alot of silver, true mamai has less silver and less petiole ruffles
The easiest way to tell is the petioles. Mamei have flat petioles with ruffles at the top, while plowmanii have cylindrical petioles. Yours doesn’t appear to have flat petioles, so I’d say it’s a plowmanii.

Claire does 2 bonus videos a month and a giveaway thing. Where I do 1 bonus video & 1 live group chat session each month and do shoutouts in my main channel videos

as for planters,poundland has the grey ones for a £1!so bought 2 and drilled holes in one then place in the other as a tray.2ft long

Soooo mine are a bit more flattened. I didn’t show it in the video but there’s like mini ruffles by the leaf join too 🤷🏻♀️

I got a climbing Mamei that does well. I also got a Plowmanii and it refuses to do anything. Plants are weird sometimes.
