    Wonderful Vic, I always anxiously await the next hummingbird update. As to power plant selection, did you ever consider an LS V8 engine (or other all aluminum automotive engine of suitable displacement) in lieu of the 540 Thunderbolt? Even with the addition of liquid cooling, it appears the various aluminum V8s from the sprint car and air boat industries are of similar weight to the Thunderbolt and have higher horsepower numbers, at about 1/3 of the cost. It seems Vertical Aviation isn’t promoting the V8 power plant option like they used to, perhaps there is a promotion agreement with Thunderbolt that has caused that. Just wondering if you ever considered an alternate power plant.

      I’ve always thought it best to build the aircraft in a way in which it was designed. I’ve been around a number of the LS engines, on RV 10’s and even helicopters, and they don’t have the reliability I think is desirable. in multiple cases the RV’s have since been re-engined with Lycoming engines, for which the 10 was designed. I’m not knocking those who try to pursue alternative engines. that’s what experimental aviation is all about. But for me, when I am done building I want to go fly and not have to tinker.
