Dude! That's the first video I saw from this channel and now I want to watch all the videos you have! I really like your style and your skill is amazing
A video on character design would really help. I’m currently drawing a manga for a lesson I’m doing in my schools japan club, and I’m trying to do 3 different 1 shot manga stories; 1. A comedy about an over worked teacher with a frequent spree of bad luck 2. A horror 1 shot based on the works of junji ito, about a small town that’s becoming infested with a hive of wasps that crawl into your skin and manipulate you into eating human flesh 3. A shonen style action/ fighting manga that’s based on medieval Europe and a detective that creates mechanical weapons and investigations to solve mysteries. A video on character design would greatly help me create more impressive and interesting works for this manga drawing lesson and also give me a wider amount of information to work off of for the content of the lesson
I dont know how youre doing this but its fun to watch you! Instead of some other UA-camrs that are just bla bla bla over and over you somehow just keep it going!
My biggest takeaway is don't be scared when inking and do my strokes quick and accurate like I did in my sketch 😅 And never be shy to add some more detail
learning the difference between how to draw a line and how to use a line and why that distinction is important has helped me a lot, building up muscle memory so my hand and arm knows how to make the mark so i can focus more on what the mark represents and what it's trying to define. it's something i had to grind at for awhile, but eventually you just start building that mental visual library and reflex so you know how to lay things out. learning to relax and just let your body do what the mind sees is kinda difficult at first but one can pick it up faster than you think with dedicated effort.
Any tutorial about using ink nib is greatly needed. Most vids just seem to be " make sure nib is clean and put it in the ink" that it not how much pressure you use or how to actual draw with it.
So basically, training yourself to draw based on the sketch as a guide instead of training your brain to just copy the sketch you already made, teaches you to not only draw quicker and more dynamic but it improves the quality of your final piece due to you not aiming for "perfect replication" and losing the spunk
I always wanted to draw in the Berserk art style. However, I ended up drawing in the Disgaea art style as a means of skipping the 50+ years it would take to get that good. I did this so I could express myself to others effectively before the fandom I draw for dies.
My issue (digitally) is line weight and line variation I like drawing with a somewhat thicker min-size, I dont enjoy the 1-pixel minimm size so I set it a bit higher in CSP Due to this, I also don't like drawing with a LARGE brush size, so I set it smaller around 25px But these two methods CANCEL eachother out, I would be drawing with a smaller size brush but a lower minimum size So while there IS some variation, it's barely noticeable when you zoom out, and all my lines look the same width I try to go in and add some artificial variation in there, but as you said; it gets tedious and I just want to get the whole thing over with I keep fiddling with the default brushes, ones that start small and suddenly in the middle become thick if you apply higher than normal pressure, but again; the 1px minmimum size throws me off completely It would be easier if I was still d oing manga-style arts with just pure thin lines, but that got bothersome real fast when I discored how easier it is if the lines are thicker, less mistakes that way... I know it's all practice, seeing which works and what doesn't, and adjust your work accordingly, like drawing on a larger brush for the outlines and stick to the 25px or smaller size for minor details, but that also drops out of my mind during the moment when being frustrated that it's already taking me too long thanks to my sketching taking 80% of my time
I have found that erasing only a part of the sketch after inking and then going back to inking to make it be as dynamic as the sketch allows the personality from the sketch to stay. For example, I erase one of the sides of the face but leave the rest after I finish the first pass. This then helps me to make the second pass match and maintain that restored sketch personality when I erase the rest and go back in to restore the rest of what I erased. That and refining the lineart like for tip #1. It depends on what I'm working on as to which one I choose and when/where. Becoming more confident in the sketch has helped speed up the process.
Would it be a good idea to do the complete line art (including hatching lines, etc) before coloring, or should i use darker coloring for the "Shading line art"?

This. An artist I follow described the inking process as "improving" the sketch, not simply tracing it.
oh, crap! no wonder, I've been doing it wrong all these years!
Sometimes(in my opinion anyways) it's also just better to let the brain fill things in. Sometimes the drawing just looks nicer that way.

Thanks for all of your videos
I instantly recognized the Elden ring character leveling screen at 5:47 😂
Any tutorial about using ink nib is greatly needed.
That eraser pen is amazing. Definitely need to add that to my bag.

The thumbnail summed up my line art
I always wanted to draw in the Berserk art style. However, I ended up drawing in the Disgaea art style as a means of skipping the 50+ years it would take to get that good. I did this so I could express myself to others effectively before the fandom I draw for dies.
We want your next video to be how to detail like you said pls! By the way you're doing a great job bro!
0:17 LOL that CD part had me choking 😂😂😂😂😂
Your tutorials are so entertaining to watch and learn 😂...literally best tutorial I watched on YT where I don't get bored
4:19 Ohh Wow Pen Pressure Sensitivity on Paper! 😅😂

I really love your videos,I got a sketchbook for Christmas and I watch a lot of tutorials including yours
I appreciate you
My issue (digitally) is line weight and line variation
I like drawing with a somewhat thicker min-size, I dont enjoy the 1-pixel minimm size so I set it a bit higher in CSP
Due to this, I also don't like drawing with a LARGE brush size, so I set it smaller around 25px
But these two methods CANCEL eachother out, I would be drawing with a smaller size brush but a lower minimum size
So while there IS some variation, it's barely noticeable when you zoom out, and all my lines look the same width
I try to go in and add some artificial variation in there, but as you said; it gets tedious and I just want to get the whole thing over with
I keep fiddling with the default brushes, ones that start small and suddenly in the middle become thick if you apply higher than normal pressure, but again; the 1px minmimum size throws me off completely
It would be easier if I was still d oing manga-style arts with just pure thin lines, but that got bothersome real fast when I discored how easier it is if the lines are thicker, less mistakes that way...
Not even a minute in and I already hear Sonic Unleashed music, you have my immediate respect.
I suck at drawing but these videos are so helpful! And funny! 5:24
LOL
5:30 I was so fully absorbed in the video and in contemplation and this caught me so off guard, I howled with laughter. Well done.
Du hast ein englischen kanal lol wusste ich gar nicht.😂
Dud!,your drawings are crazy!!
These are great tips, but what about Digital art, or colored art? I feel like some of the tips don’t carry over.
Thank you @ Draw like a sir because you helped me to draw a body or human!
