There's something so humbling about this. Taking one step forward and simultaneously three steps back, but still keeping at it... So happy to see Felix continuing this series :,)
the thing is that that is the case for getting better at everything. you need to experiment and try to get to the next level and at some point or another, that means that on the surface it will look like you are taking a step back but that step back is necessary in order to understand your craft better overall. once you get to a really high leve at one thing, you will understand what is necessary in order to achieve the same kind of success in anything you do in life, and all that's needed for you to achieve that is dedication and effort
The book "drawing with the right side of the brain" is amazing, I noticed improvement instantly. Also how he said, draw a lit of random stuff, animals, textures, perspective. The next steps are color theory and how colors interact w each other. And you'll notice improvement so much faster with the right guidance! ✨️
11:47 The “in my head it was so much more” hits hard. It reminds me of this one art video I watched that explains how our ability to analyze art develops faster than our ability to create art. It’s probably why it’s so hard to see our own improvement.
I feel this a lot when it comes to music ideas sometimes too. I get my ideas down and have that exact feeling of thinking it was gonna come out so much better than I actually ended up feeling it is. I've gotten a lot more positive with that over the years, but, it was such a common feeling for me, so I related massively to that!
Such a gruesome feeling when an idea I have isn't executed just right, but it helps me a little bit when I realize other people don't know what I was trying to execute and they just see the piece for what it is. That way I can appreciate the piece for it's own charm and then try to execute my idea better later
It comes in waves, sometimes your skill exceeds perception and you feel like you've peaked, sometimes your perception is the better one and you feel like everything you draw is terrible
I started drawing as a 28 y/o man working as a server, the first years were rough but now I'm 35, a professional fantasy illustrator. It is never too late to start Edit: I'm so happy to hear my personal story inspired so many artist out there. It warms my heart
Wow WHAT!? I just checked your profile and thats so insaneeee!!! Would you mind sharing what exactly did you do to get to that point? 7 years is not a lot of time to get to your skill level! Looks like a master now to be honest! Did you have previous experience or we're you like felix who started from nothing? That's amazing. I've been drawing on/off since I was a kid but I never got to your skill level. btw: check his artstation! i googled his name and it came up lol
11:39 "I looked at it so much now it just pisses me off" felix just made every artist who tried to execute a grand idea and had middling results hard relate
Truly 😂 A lot of the times, for me, it's "I liked this so much better before I put in color but now it's too late and I already put in so much effort to drop down colors."
I picked up drawing 7 months ago exactly because I was inspired by him too! An important tip I always remind myself is that everyone's progress is different. Some days I feel like I haven't improved at all, but that's completely fine.
as a profesional artist, im so proud of you Pewds!! The next step I can recomend you to try is take references irl. for example the hands: (which i assure you, 99% of artists have trouble with) ask someone, maybe martzia to do the pose you have in mind and recreate it in your style. it doesnt have to be realistic or shaded or anything, just understand the basic shape of the pose. that will help you a ton with anatomy!
If not Martzia then a nice still life subject is a good start too. Drawing objects like bowls of fruit (classic choice lol), cups, or something along those lines is great too. Live subjects naturally move a lot so it can be mildly more challenging to start with
These videos make me want to pick up my pencils again. It was almost scary to start again I don't even know why. I miss the trance I would go into while drawing and not focus on anything else. I love what he said that drawing is more training your brain to see rather than teaching your hand to draw like the technical side. Love pewds and his life journey and all his videos ❤
I just drew today after a year of burn out, I love drawing, my expectations were so big for what I could do and I knew I could do it that I just postponed myself waiting for the perfect moment or a time that I wouldn’t feel tired, that never happens so I just went outside at the local library, my hopes were not big but I found tons of manga, it was paradise, ended up drawing my characters after such a long time, they are always in my head waiting to take life, I’m just so glad I could do it today
Same, thank you for the new post Felix! 👊 I honestly needed to see this new video as well. I was shocked, nonetheless but I won’t ramble.. 😅 from all your fans bro fist! Felix, thank you from another artist stuck in “artist block.”
"This is still better" about the thing you did months ago is a perfect summary of what progress can be like sometimes! lol You can always see new mistakes as you learn more. Stoked to see you keep at it, man!
I genuinely think that at this point, he's not wise enough to understand how accurate his drawing actually is. But he will come to that point. He will.
@PewDiePie Bro, the “Am I allowed to be happy?” hit so hard. You’ve improved so much at so many things over the course of the year, it’s truly inspiring. Your final pice looks absolutely fantastic, but even if it didn’t, you’ve gotten so much better at anatomy, perspective, drawing actual boys, even your landscapes look insane man! It’s unbelievable progress for a year and I truly believe you should be proud. I know your job kind of requires others validation, but putting that on hold for a sec, I hope you can come to see just how far you’ve come from when you started and be happy man, because you deserve it.
he did mention that he wanted to pursue architecture in one of the heavy rain gameplay episodes 🥹 as an archi major I would also love to see him draw more buildings
I feel like he's focusing too much on human anatomy which isn't bad to start with perse but I personally think he'll blossom when he draws environment/backgrounds. Like those artists with a couple subjects like humans, magical beings, and or animals but huge elaborate or simple backgrounds
can't wait for the next video "i spent 365 days learning animation" it feels like a great way to progress with the things he mentioned. it'll be great for learning anatomy, plus it's great for drawing things you wouldn't normally. alot of us get in a loop of drawing what we like, pewds with anime girl and me with futuristic cars or eyes, but animation has a way of breaking you out of that comfort zone by making you draw whatever the scene needs.
In my 33 years drawing (I'm 41 by the way), I never had a year so full of experiences like you did Pewds. Even if you think you can't see the evolution, you went from through s lot. Drawing by yourself, watching tutorials, actually learning from books, even learning perspective (my nightmare....), and you even went for the digital art. You've accomplished so much, and I think all other artists here can see that, and we are all happy and proud of you.
this is so true! as an artist, i myself have avoided doing things such as perspective. PewDiePie improved so much in just a year because he wasn't afraid to experiment with his art and see what he can do to improve and for that I admire him. i wasted a LOT of time drawing the same thing over and over again instead of tackling something I've never done before😭 If we don't try and stick with the mindset of "it's not good enough" then it never will be, and unfortunately that was my number one mistake through these years of drawing. I've definitely learned a lot from watching pewds videos so this time I'm actually going to start from square one and see how it goes
@@irisynth Being how old I'm, I know how that is. Even though I'm self thought, I know I SHOULD draw a lot better then what I do. There is so much I should study and try to learn, but I never do, for whatever reason it is. Even so, while we're alive, is never late to start.
@@MagodoCaos1 44 year old artist here (started 7 years ago). I know the feeling of "I SHOULD be better". For me its not even lack of trying. It's lack of 'getting' stuff or the consistent failure despite trying so hard. I'm looking at the comments section of this video and I'm too scared to press the play button, because doing so means I'm going to hate myself for not being good enough.
@@CorpSanct I think its all about finding your own pace to do things. I think people learn and absorb things their own way, at any given time. I don't know if its your case, but you shouldn't compare yourself to others, some people take more, or less time, just be happy with your own growth. Pewds did a lot in one year, and so can you, doesn't matter if isn't that much compared to him. Let other people talk.
“am i allowed to be happy?” felix i almost burst into tears lmao you are capturing every artist’s experience with this series. it is accomplishment enough to choose to create art at all, to answer the artistic call within you. thanks a bunch for this series and for your vulnerability! really love your work!
Your digital piece for the 365th day was incredible. Not just the drawing, the rendering was amazing. Thank you for sharing this, it can be weirdly vulnerable to share art.
I deeply appreciate this video, I've been drawing since I was 6, and around my teenage years I slowly lost touch in it, it became so boring, I can literally draw anything, I've become so numb of the feeling of drawing something, sorta how Saitama felt about fighting. I am 31 now. The emotions you've gone through this process is the feeling I miss the most and seeing someone go through the ups and downs of improvement made me feel happy. I might just get back to Drawing again one day, thanks to you.
This series gives me so much hope as someone who is also trying to improve at art later in life in a world where most artists start as kids, I'm doing this journey with you man, love to see your progress!
I tried and I am so sad I kinda stopped in the middle because stress from school and now I havent drew in like a month. I kind feel sad especially because I want to go to Art school in 2 years. and I am aware and know I HAVE TO do it, but I am alone and my energy for it just fades qwq
I've had the same worry in different fields. I've been the 'drawing' guy but not the 'music' guy. But the reality is that kids are kinda dumb so it's not much of a headstart as might be assumed.. I think the larger thing is that it feels like if you didn't do something growing up you aren't "that type" of person but circumstances growing up were just different for people, a lot happens by chance. So just start now
9:04 "going through the pain of sucking again" is the most genius art advice there ever will be!! Because to grow and improve is literally that! So many people lose heart when they improve because of that pain but its part of it and you have to change the mindset of it or be depressed untill it looks a little better than before. You are doing a great job Felix! Good work, keep going!!
As an artist, seeing you jump from colour to linework and back to colour and then to digital was so so impressive!!! Colour is a completely other beast and the processes of paper and digital drawing are completely different in my oppinion and you did very good! But the brush marker black-and-white Blame drawings were simply amazing! Your urge to always learn more has always been so inspiring to me, Felix:)
I guess I'll leave this comment here just because I now felt I needed to say this, even though you might not see it. Felix, you have been one of my biggest inspirations ever since you used to play a lot of horror games still. Watching these "I drew everyday for X days" made me pick up art again, and I really challenged myself to draw every single day despite the struggles that comes with being a college student. It was arguably much harder for me to even manage my time properly, but I could've never had the courage and motivation to do something I thought I WAS good at but started again at scratch, if it wasn't for your drawing videos. My biggest enemy was myself, until you showed me the light to guide the way. I really thought 100 Days was a good stopping point, but you continued because you loved to make more and improve. And now whenever I'm down, I am reminded of the reason why I started and that progress is always slow but honest. It's currently Day 54 for me, but I'm already reaching levels I never thought I was able to reach. Your winning so much in life Felix, and I hope you'll continue to do what you do best: being an inspiration to everyone else. Thank you so much... seriously, and I'd love to see you continue making more art in the future! I wish you and your family all the best!
One quote I heard that I think is great for all creative ventures is, "Art isn't a leaderboard." That makes it so much easier for me to write knowing the stories are just different, not necessarily that one is better than the other.
When I was young, I read a lot of Edgar Rice Burroughs and I created my best story in English class because I wrote the story how I thought he would write it. Reading the works of writers that you like and looking for clues to what makes their stories good can help a lot in your own writing.
PewDiePie, thank you so much for inspiring me with this video. When I watched your 100 days of drawing video, I really thought about the reasons I never could be consistent with art in my life. Watching you just simply go at it changed my perception about how I could approach my art and I thought “What would happen if I really tried to do the same 100 days challenge?” And I tried it. I met a lot of struggles at first, but I kept at it. Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve reached the 100 days milestone and I plan on making this a part of my daily life from now on. I am grateful to have been inspired by you and other amazing artists. I wish you all the best and thanks again!
I've been drawing all my life, and I can see so much of my own inner critic in this. It's normal to progress "faster" as a beginner, because you basically start from 0. But then as you progress and get better and better, the progress also slows down. And it can feel incredibly frustrating, because you want to see immediate results, but that's just not how learning works. That being said, I'm genuinely impressed with how persistent you've been! Idk if it's my ADHD or depression or what, but I've never been able to draw every single day for long periods of time - yet alone a whole year! And YES study art books and tutorials! Draw different items, and perspective, study anatomy, animals etc. That it exactly how you become a great artist! It's genuinely so cool and so inspiring to see how far you've come in such little time!
One of the best thing Felix says here, is "Progress is not a straight line" In the middle of this he talked about comparing himself to his previous work and how he felt they were better, especially in comparison. It's so easy to get into a mindset that you aren't improving, that things aren't getting better in the way you want them to. But like he says, its a process, you do get better, just a different rates. There's a ton of things you have to learn to draw, and they'll all take different amount of effort and time to learn. Especially going from traditional to digital, as someone who's still learning digital art, it's rough. Just make sure you enjoy yourself, and don't be afraid to just, draw what you want sometimes. Amazing video, so happy he's still doing this! So happy that it's getting so much popularity!
What's it worth if you need 10 years to be good at something others master in a few years? Just is a waste of time, by then maybe you're even into the same things again or whatever.
@@nexusserc If it's something you truly want to learn and get better at, years won't matter. If you think 10 years is too long to get good at it, you might not enjoy it as much as you think.
@nexusserc not try to lead you one way or another. But if you put the effort in, it may seem small, but progress is progress. As long as your moving forward, it's still a good thing, even if it's small.
@@nexusserc That's the issue. You tend to care about others' progression more than yours. You forget your own progress which is why you keep going down again as you don't appreciate the little things you get better at. Art realistically takes more time, especially if you try to draw different things. Some may specialize on backgrounds but aren't good at drawing people.
this inspired me to get started with my goals! Not drawing, specifically, but the message this video implies is just to get started. And that's where I struggle the most. I am impatient, and if I don't see great results after two tries I'm done. But this gave me the push I needed and the mindset I should have.
Here's a fact that may or may not be reassuring: If you put in the work, you WILL get better. It may take longer than others, but you will. Even if you yourself can't recognize it. But the important thing is you have to enjoy what you're doing. If oyu don't enjoy it, well that takes away all the fun, doesn't it? But at the same time, you have to also know to get good, you're going to have to get through some of those not great stages, and this applies to anything you want in your life. Most people who do businesses, *most* people fail the first couple times, or if they don't, they realize things to improve as time goes on. That's how it works! That's how we improve and get better. Ya gotta start somewhere though, but if you never start, you guarantee failure.
Me too! It inspired me to dedicate myself to my own goals and gave me a push to get started again. As someone with ADHD and a chronic issue with starting something and never being able to finish it, Pewds’ progress has really helped to encourage me and also gave me a new outlook on the whole ‘talent vs practice’ thing. Just because you don’t believe you are talented at something, it doesn’t mean that you can’t practice and become amazing at it. If you enjoy it and it brings you satisfaction and personal growth then that’s all that matters. Pewds helped to teach me that :)) what a guy
@@Melavaaa so I can't skip some parts of the video and see the results at the end? I can't watch the video in faster speed? I can't get the point of the video especially since this is the third video in his drawing series? I can't use the previous video as reference to this video? Interesting.
Genuinely, thanks for this. It was a random UA-cam recommendation, I don't watch your content with any regularity at all, I hadn't seen any of the previous videos of your journey, but this was amazing. As a kid I thought art was cool, but was "too cool" for it, being labeled the math and science kid. Then later in life when I grew up enough to realize how silly that was it felt too late to get into art, I tried it briefly - VERY briefly - and hated what I drew so I gave up on it, saying I couldn't do it, I was too old, I didn't have the motor skills, and any other excuse I could think of. I saw this video a three weeks ago now, and it inspired me to try again. But to actually give it a shot, not half-ass it, to not let myself run away because it was tough or I wasn't happy. To sit down and dedicate some real time and effort into learning, to watch UA-cam tutorials and just actually sketch for hours. And in two weeks I can proudly say I suck, miserably, but I suck noticeably less than when I started, and I feel like I have an actual direction. I can look at my stuff and say "Wow, that's awful, I really got the proportions wrong, I really need to work on my line work, I really need to lower the eyes". I can see where I'm going wrong, and I'm starting to learn how to actually learn how to draw, how to look at what people draw and see how I'd go about applying that myself. Where before I'd see something someone drew and think "Wow, that looks so nice, I could never do that in my life" now I think "Wow, look at how they did that, look at the shape of the face, the perspective, how it's posed - how would I go about doing that? Where would I start? What are the proportions they used?" It's been super fun, and it's a lifelong regret I've managed to rectify, specifically thanks to the push from this video. The idea that I could try something just for fun, that it didn't have to be in furtherance of work or employment, that it doesn't ever have to be for some grand purpose, is so foreign to me it was super difficult to take that first step. Thanks!
13:04 "Am I allowed to be happy?" Yes! I'm so glad you're somewhat forcing yourself to see your improvement because it's so easy to hate everything you do with art and forget where you started. Don't give up! I'm super excited to see you keep growing on your art journey!!
Felix, as an artist who’s been drawing for over 16 years, there will always be one thing-it could seem big or small-that you’re gonna be annoyed about with your own art (mine is hands and lineart, I’ve resigned myself to having a sketchy style lol). And that feeling SHOULD be there. That means you’re always going to be creating, always trying to improve. And the people around you will marvel at what you make. And they want you to keep creating because they genuinely love your art. Being an artist is a blessing and curse in multiple ways, but the pros very much outweigh the cons when you see how far you’ve come and how people are impacted by what you do. Your art style is beautiful btw 💚
As someone who's been drawing for 10 years, but haven't been consistent in it, I found out that trying different things and media is really where the fun is. When I got tired of color pencils I picked up markers, then watercolors, then gouache, now acrylic paint. It's so much fun and learning how to use something you've never tried before makes you want to keep going! Also, color theory is pain in the ass, but it's so worth it! Everything looks better when the colours are good. Keep going, Felix! And have fun with it! You're doing amazing and your consistency is really impressive
Definitely agree with this! Sometimes you've got to enjoy different elements and aspects of drawing! Once it was sketching poses, then it was inking poses, then cel shading, next techniques. It's quite fun!
Impressed. The growth is impressive. The drawing is good too. I love that you realized that you don't always have to be the best at something, in fact it's totally ok to suck at something and still do it, if you love doing it. Eventually you get better but sometimes it's not about that. The goal doesn't always need to be world domination. Sometimes it can simply be enjoying the doing of the thing.
There is this guy that appears on my reel that says “did I improve this drawing?” I think he is an inspiration to go to the next step (especially for shadows and colors)
I've always dreamed of doing this kind of slow progression practice myself but always had something else going on and put it away, again and again. Respect for actually doing it for 365 days. This inspires me to be better incrementally, not giving up.
You should! it doesn't have to be for long periods. Whatever it is, set a timer for three or five minutes and do that everyday. Eventually you'll set the timer higher but until then, you are still doing it daily :]
Bro pewds you're a mad man, your progress is amazing. There's this quote that I've read, "Draw what you actually see, not what you think what you see.". It helps me a lot on my drawing journey that I finally understand values, tonal values, details, etc. It's all in the eyes, brain, hands. Learning from the masters really helps, I hope it helps you too.
I find the quote very interesting, because when beginners try to draw what they think/imagined it feels extremely wrong/difficult. Hence they improve their skill by observing the world and train their eyes, minds etc. Eventually they can actually draw what they think -- human imagination, ideology combined with reality, and that’s imo how the greatest art pieces are born.
"If i'm having fun, I would remain consistent" the term that I always wanna use! it may sounds irrational to others, but I'm glad to hear from him as well. Maybe we gotta do what just work for us all along without feeling too much unnecessary pressure
Your line sensitivity is absolutely amazing. You also have a great sense of colour and form with more smart practice you'll be improving IMMENSELY. I am honestly extremely impressed with your progress and wish you lots of fun in the future of your drawing. I have a bachelor's in graphics design and animation currently working on my masters so I feel qualified enough to say this you're doing absolutely amazing. Seriously congratulations the further you progress the more stagnant you will feel, but never forget your perspective of your progress is entirely different than that of other people just keep going, don't give up and don't be afraid to take a break if you do burn out. I wish you all the best!!!
Hey this off topic, but I wanted to ask you if you think the masters is worth it?🥲 I also have bachelors in graphic design and have been considering master’s, but I’m not sure
@@kamillaazim4862 I mean depends on what you want to do with it I am getting my masters in 3d animation and game design to broaden my horizons but also in my country it's beneficial. I get a little bit of a higher starting pay and a bit more PTO. Honestly it's not necessary. A lot of my friends from uni are not continuing their art education. There are also other options like courses with certification you can participate in etc. for me it is beneficial for a lot of reasons but might not be for you... For sure look into it tho
@@kamillaazim4862 for me it is based on the benefits I get in my country as a student and also after I gain my masters. Not a lot of people from my course went for masters. Some of them are attending certification courses for more specific stuff like VFX etc. definitely think on it if you have the ability but it's not necessary. Currently most employers think more about the portfolio than education anyways
That was incredible improvement for a year! My art has been at a standstill for years- I understand what you mean when you feel it peaks- like you just like a certain style or feel nothing can top it… that was like years worth in one year so don’t be so hard on yourself - I really hope you continue! As frustrating as art can be, it really is relaxing when you are sketching and sometimes the best drawings come from ones you didn’t even mean to be good 😁
That "am I allowed to be happy?" was- I can't even put it into words but I had to pause the video and think to myself. Felix may not have been someone I was always watching as a kid but I always found his, like many UA-camrs journeys, inspiring. And hearing him go through the struggles I've found myself in despite what others say about my work just hit my soul fatally. For what it's worth, your improvement is very apparent. Getting in that block where you think you'll never improve is dangerous to your creativity and it is hard to break but you have to remember what you love about what you do and take a step back to simply enjoy the process. I hope this helps anyone. I'm currently halfway through 3D animation and I still feel this way. It's never too late to start working towards your dreams. Even if you fall in a ditch, you can dig yourself back up. It's not the end for your imagination.
I think if everyone tried drawing for a period of time people would have more respect for those that can do it well. The same goes for basically everything.
So, as someone who's been in fine arts, 3d animation and film directing studies(now I am a 2d animator professionally), you are doing fucking amazing. You are hard on yourself, because you already see and understand your way to progress. Keep it on pal, and you will put all of us, who have done this for years to shame! Your work is superb!
You should be so happy and proud! This is honestly so inspiring, and as someone who just started drawing on procreate and being confused (but excited to learn), this was so wholesome and encouraging
I think this might be one of my favorite series on UA-cam seriously, I feel so deeply inspired watching it, it's not simply the progress but the consistency and he being so open about the process, how it really isn't a straight line and how that can be frustrating even when it's something you like and you choose to do and keep doing
"I felt like I could do more" is so relatable. I've been having really bad art block for a couple years now and seeing your dedication makes me want to pick up my sketchbook again. Great job and I hope you continue your art journey, Felix!
I have a degree in fine and applied art. Felix it's time you get away from anime and start drawing the world around you. Train your eye and your mind to draw what you see and not what you think you see. Practice loose sketches in 2min, 5min and 10min increments. Study nature and the anatomy of the body. Copy artists and start looking into more unconventional mediums. Play, as you have with your mediums, and never shy away from making mistakes with colour. I will reiterate my first argument, move away from anime and start drawing the observable world in realism. Once your eye is trained to recognise proportion and depth, you'll be able to draw anything without reference accurately. All the best and amazing drawings!
I don't normally watch your videos as your style of humor just isn't mine anymore. But watching this video has inspired me to keep trying with my own art. I've struggled for so long with my art just not looking like how I want it to that I've started to give up, but if you can go quite literally from not knowing anything about drawing to that amazing in 80 days, and then to improve so much further to 365? You've inspired me, so thank you
4:20 this is a genuine part of being a good artist, in a way. Having life experiences, witnessing new and different things in person over time as you age, gaining perspective. All of these things make you better art. A large part or art is understanding the world. It's not so much the creative part as the technical part of art, which might not immediately come to mind
Yep the photoship experience 100000000000000% helped him-i think even more than he gives it credit. A visual library and just knowing form, colour theory etc would be a massive improvement to any beginner artist and it explains why he caught onto shapes so much faster
Every artist who makes the switch to digital feels your pain. It can be so demoralizing to know in your heart and have proof that you can do better but still be unable to because you don't understand the new toolset yet. I don't know you, but I am proud of you for the sheer determination and I truly believe you made the right decision by sticking with drawing the things you find fun as it helps to keep motivated.
Because of your second video "drawing 100 days" I picked up my sketchbook that I haven't touched in 20 years and I haven't stopped drawing since. I'm a little sad I didn't keep it going when I was a teenager but happy I found it again and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't have dove back into it without Felix. I'm so grateful for that.
i also used to draw a lot when i was a kid and just stopped one day when life wasnt good, seeing your videos make me feel that i could pick up art again! i feel like picking up a piece of who i was before everything, thanks man!
Art is definitely not a linear experience for sure, as someone whos been drawing for 8 years now I have months where i see my old art and sob cause its so much better than some current stuff, while i have other months where I skyrocket in skill. it ticks back and forth and lot of it is a gap in growing observational skills and jetlagged practice trying to keep up with that. you have improved so much though!
What makes me so happy, as a professional artist myself, is that I like to think a lot of people will watch this series and go “hey I could do that” or will maybe be inspired to try for a bit just because it is fun. Because seeing the progress from the start feels much more attainable. And art IS FUN man! This also made me smile because it reinforces the daily joy that drawing brings, still to this day. It made me remember when I was a beginner. Love it still, at the end of the day, even after 13 years since I began. ❤ happy drawing y’all
8:15 I like how you addressed that here. What people dont know about me is that in order for me to get this good in to where i currently am now, I have to restart from the basics like 15 times, literally learn how to draw the head, proportions and what not so its imbedded into my muscle memory. My friends tell me its time consuming and it really feels demotivating, however I do understand thier frustration. But as youve said before on one of your videos, is that "youre not doing it all again from scratch, youre doing it all with experience." so its not as slow or demotivating. Kinda the opposite really, youre just watching yourself not suck as much
It is good, but he’s saying that the 80 day one is better, plus the anatomy of the upper torso is off and the pose is stiff so its easy to understand why he dislikes the drawing. I guess he’s being a bit hard on it tho, the coloring was really successful.
He is becoming a better artist. At first comes the fun, then comes the criticism so that the disorganized, flat, uninteresting or unintentional matures. It is always like that. When you were a kid you just did stuff (walk, eat, drink, etc), when you grow up you get critical about things (walk elegantly, not eat like a pig, drink with restraints, etc), you mature. He has matured, his critical view on things is coming and this in turn will let him build an artistic identity, a creative tendency which is his.
When's the manga coming?! Love the lesson that improving isn't a straight line. Artworks go through "ugly" stages when you're trying new things, it's important to not get discouraged by that and to stay the course. I think you've inspired a lot of people with this art series, keep it up ✍
A future manga author/artist in the making and he doesn't even realize it. Pewds always had a natural talent for art in general, he just needed a push to learn how to properly demonstrate his creativity through pen and paper. You'd be surprised how good you're at something once you finally learn how to do it.
This actually made me a little emotional. I think this is so cool and so great! Falling into a hobby/ interest is so nice. Especially drawing for the sake of drawing. It’s so nice… ❤
This might be my favorite pewdiepie series to date. And I have been watching you since 2012. Truly it’s inspiring stuff and I hope to see more of it down the line, even if it’s not every day anymore. Good work Felix. Proud of ya
This is the first video from you I’ve ever watched (I know I know) but this was truly inspiring and although I went from pretty much not even caring about you… I’ve never felt so much pride in someone I don’t know. Great job dude. Really great job.
I genuinely don't understand why people are hating PewDiePie because he is good at art now. To me, all of the haters just sounds like jealous artists. I find his dedication and visible progression to making good art very inspiring.
As a professional artist that has been drawing all my life... in the words of Jake the Dog, "Sucking at something is the first step to being kind of good at something." What you said about success absolutely hit the nail on the head -- rarely is improvement ever linear. I hope that you've fallen in love with drawing and keep at it, your work is better than you think!
7:00 branching out is the best way to improve overall. Peaking with anime girls at day 80 is totally normal. Doing side quests into landscape sketches, still life, city scapes, animals etc. is a great way as a beginner to learn the feel pens/ contrast/ composition without the difficulty of human anatomy. We're able to spot the slightest imperfections when it comes to human and even anime drawings. Starting off with a more forgiving subject is helpful in that regard. But at the end of the day having fun and being motivated to draw anything is the most important, regardless of what is drawn.
Dude! I am so proud of you Felix! You're absolutely crushing it! It's always nice to see people get back into art and find fun and fulfillment. I am super impressed that you've managed to work out all the problems that took me years to get past (ADHD really didn't help). I hope you take all the positive feedback and keep on your art journey. If you ever want any advice I'm here to help! Keep being awesome!
As an artist that has a mountain of scraped art because "it's not good enough" mindset. But after watching your journey it really inspired me to continue and power through while learning from my mistakes in my art.Thank you Felix!
PEWDS! Geniunely congratulations AND thank you (for making this video)! Its been incredibly inspiring to see your journey, both for professional artists and those who are getting there. Content like this is much needed right now when lots of us are feeling a bit overwhelmed, afraid to take the plunge and follow our passion. Thank you for showing us that it is a worthwhile quest! Can't wait to see what else you'll create!!
my art style has been slowly improving over the past few years, i draw relatively often, usually a few drawings/week. ive been unhappy with how little my art has been improving, and this video just reminds me of how i need to focus more on my art and spend more time on it if i want to get good. this video is a peak example of how if you put effort into something, you can do pretty much anything, great video
The actual grasp of rendering the artwork after one year is kinda crazy!! I couldn’t even grasp what rendering was until like 2 years ago and I was drawing for ages😭 the improvement is so incredible and I’m proud to see the progress
The pain never stops Felix, been drawing for decades now, learning to make my own manga, and it’s always painful. What makes it worth it though is that piece you keep going back to, the one you compare all your other work to? That grows into multiple pieces you become proud of. Pretty soon you have a portfolio of work that amazes even yourself. I’ve looked at work I’ve done in complete disbelief that I was the one who did it, and I was there! Please, not for us, but for yourself, keep it going! Books are great, but youtube tuts are amazing too! It would be so cool if, one day, you dropped your own manga, completely drawn by you.
It’s amazing to see how much you’ve grown, not just as an artist but as a person. I remember the first ever video I watched was you playing flappy bird trying not to swear, since then, your journey has been inspiring to watch. I’m proud to be a PewDiePie fan, here since the beginning.
I hate how when Felix was talking about him hating his newer work and how some of his work before looked better I knew exactly how he felt. I constantly go through this feeling with my art and I always end up hating everything else I make after and even in some cases to the point where I lose any enjoyment in drawing but seeing Felix stick with this for a year (not to mention improve as much as he has) has given me a bit more motivation to continue drawing so Felix if you ever see this comment by some miracle I just want to say, thank you!! 😭😭💞💞
dude... you already surpassed me so much... a lot of those drawings were great, maybe not finished but the base was very good. You humilliated me haha I'm been suffering with inktober but watching your progress, you got better at drawing than me in just one year than me who spent years and years drawing, but it shows me that I'm not taking it seriously, you have practiced a lot and searched how to get better, whereas each time I was dissatisfied with my drawings I stopped for a while before coming back to drawing. It encourages me. And seriously you are so good now that you could easily take commissions (you draw muuuch better that many people in the commissions pages I am a member of) The last drawing was incredible! It is normal for artists to hate some of their pieces when actually they are not bad at all, I can see that with your drawings, trust yourself more!! Great, reaaalllyyyy great progress!
Same, I'm genuinely upset with myself that I haven't been as dedicated as Pewds in a much longer timespan. It just means I have to take it more seriously as well. Absolutely wonderful job on his part
Feeling like you peaked is a CORE part of the art experience!!!! I'm so fucking proud good god. Watching you go from knowing nothing to what you've shown in the video is literally mind-blowing. Thank you so much for being diligent about drawing every day. It's just... I can't explain it. I love it so much. Seeing the process that all artists go through accelerated and condensed into one video is so pleasing, nostalgic. This is my favorite video on the channel now, previously it was your first book recommendation vid, it got me into philosophy. Side note I'm an old fan, I remember the Skate videos being one of the first things I saw from you and had been watching since. As I grew up I kind of diverged and started doing my own thing like... living my life instead of watching youtube all the time. But whenever I check back in it makes me so happy to just see you grow and become a new person. And then I check in today and you have a soN???? And you're drawing now, I just... I'm so happy for you Felix. Seeing your life through the years is really something special. I'm so happy this channel exists :)
I've genuinely enjoyed seeing you taking up drawing again, and how much you've grown to love it. I drew a lot as a kid and a teenager, but somehow I just stopped in college when I started comparing myself to others. There are times when I see an artist and I feel like one too, even though I don't draw as much. Today you inspired me to take up drawing again. Thank you! I can't wait to see more of your artistic journey too.
from not having picked up a pencil to drawing fully rendered characters within a year. you have achieved A LOT and you should most definitely be proud of yourself and well done on sticking through it :D that last piece blew me away, the clothes rendering, the pose and the colors are all amzing, great job! i wish you good luck with the rest of your art journey, we believe in you!
You inspired me to start drawing. I'm a complete beginner (couldn't draw a straight line lol), and i started like 80 days ago. I did improve a lot for my standars, but this is just the beginning. Your art is amazing and you inspired me to start and keep going every day. THANK YOU FELIX, i'm looking fordward to see your next art milestone!!👊
Thank you, Felix. I've been growing watching your vids since I was 11 years old (2013), and now I am 22. You won't believe how much your videos have helped and influenced me throughout these years. I've seen you grow, your ups and downs but it never change my opinion about you, and finally watching you live happily with your lovely wife and son, and doing things you enjoy, I can't express how happy I am for you. You're the one that cheered me when I'm at my lowest with your funny videos. I learnt english mostly from your videos, and you're my main inspiration on start reading philosophy and working out. There's so many more things I wanna say, but I hope you will keep on uploading. I can't thank you enough. Brofist 👊
You’re so hard on yourself! The progress is incredible. The fact that you’ve stayed consistent and have gotten this far is so inspiring. You remind me to not be so hard on myself because I’m not always doing as bad as I think. Neither are you. Thanks for sharing this journey with us! 👊
This man just revived my desire to learn even more. I saw what he did on the ipad and I was like "you need to put in more work man.. " Great effort on ur end man
As someone in art school, you being hard on yourself is a totally normal part of being an artist and your progress is fantastic!! It's awesome to watch someone fall in love with art and drawing
So cool you kept going!! That feeling of "the sketch is better then the finished painting" is something a lot of digital artists have and there is ways around it :D Going from line drawing to full color, which is more shape-based, is a huge jump. Your brain is used to seing and interpreting lines now, but with shading you have to know a lot about light, 3D objects, perspective and so on. So don't be hard on yourself, you are doing extremely well :D took me like 6 years to figure all this out.
I would love to see Felix redraw his day 80 drawing he loves so much, it'll give him such a confidence boost because surely then he'll see how much he's improved!
"i looked at it so much it just pisses me off" is such a relatable sentiment, there is so many art pieces I've made that I've had to keep checking on to see if they look bad to me yet or if something looks very wrong that I missed, eventually it all ends up looking that way but I guess thatch a good sign of improvement for me!
Don’t know if you do this a lot, but my art teacher told my class to never erase anything but just draw it again with the change you want, I think it gives you a better sense of understanding of what does and doesn’t work in your project. Granted it was mostly graphic design but in the rare occasion that I try to draw it is helpful to see the improvement even if it’s small. You’re doing great and actually giving me motivation to start drawing again!
Illustrators definitely do this too! I'm currently taking an online art course where all lessons must be done in ink. We definitely get the same benefits from treating each line like its permanent that you do in graphic design.
Hey PewDiePie! Congratulations on your amazing artwork and extremely long challenge! I just wanna let you know that you sparked my interest in drawing and im extremely thankful for it!
I've been drawing since I was a kid, but always did anime, up until just a couple years ago I wanted to do something different, anime/cartoons were getting old. I decided to try and do portraits, my first-ever portrait was of you! I was so happy with it that I had it framed, but now looking back I can see all the flaws in it, it wasn't bad but compared to what I do now I can tell a big difference. I'm yapping but there's something so important about keeping old work so you have something to look back on to really see how much you've improved, we all get caught up in the "now". Good job to sticking with it Pewds!

It legit reminded me of animenz and his unravel arrangement

Hi nick

Subscribe to this man right here his a goat
There's something so humbling about this. Taking one step forward and simultaneously three steps back, but still keeping at it... So happy to see Felix continuing this series :,)
the thing is that that is the case for getting better at everything. you need to experiment and try to get to the next level and at some point or another, that means that on the surface it will look like you are taking a step back but that step back is necessary in order to understand your craft better overall. once you get to a really high leve at one thing, you will understand what is necessary in order to achieve the same kind of success in anything you do in life, and all that's needed for you to achieve that is dedication and effort
Discipline and dedication can get anyone very far!
THATS HIS NAME OOO
This is the first video I see of him in my life and I'm so pleasantly surprised. Gorgeous art style 🥰✨️
Yo wait who made that video again I swear I just watched that like a few days ago
This was very thought provoking, great insight
It comes in waves, sometimes your skill exceeds perception and you feel like you've peaked, sometimes your perception is the better one and you feel like everything you draw is terrible
He's even hit the point where "the more you learn, the more you realize you don't know much", that's so good lol
ye
It's called the dunning kruger effect.
I started drawing as a 28 y/o man working as a server, the first years were rough but now I'm 35, a professional fantasy illustrator. It is never too late to start
Edit: I'm so happy to hear my personal story inspired so many artist out there.
I've been drawing on/off since I was a kid but I never got to your skill level.
btw: check his artstation! i googled his name and it came up lol
that's amazing.
I love your style! How can I find you on instagram?
FANTASTIC WORK one of the best artists ive seen on youtube, you need more subs!
Sir we need a video rn!!! I DEMAND IT
So glad this series is continuing, great job Felix.
i love that album

So glad he's still continuing this side quest. Atp, drawing for x days straight is a main quest.

11:39 "I looked at it so much now it just pisses me off" felix just made every artist who tried to execute a grand idea and had middling results hard relate
Dude it's such a universal feeling for artist
Truly 😂 A lot of the times, for me, it's "I liked this so much better before I put in color but now it's too late and I already put in so much effort to drop down colors."
What if PewDiePie convert to Islam? Because he is disappointed.
It was so relatable when he said that, so many pieces of my art just make me disappointed, but they look "good" to other people
I think the eyes just looked lifeless is what upset him
Im 22, 0 art experience ever, and I just ordered a drawing tab for digital art. Thank you for this vid, it was the last push I needed to jump for it
Yay! This stranger on the internet wishes you the most wonderful journey ahead 💚
I picked up drawing 7 months ago exactly because I was inspired by him too! An important tip I always remind myself is that everyone's progress is different. Some days I feel like I haven't improved at all, but that's completely fine.
I picked up a drawing tablet for pc and ended up playing osu!
❤
@@Heddyxon I picked up a tablet to play osu and now I'm learning to draw because of Pewds
as a profesional artist, im so proud of you Pewds!!
Painting marzia would be such a cute video idea
Or taking a picture of hands or a person as a reference is also good, better than the creepÿ wooden drawing doll 🗣🗣🗣
If not Martzia then a nice still life subject is a good start too. Drawing objects like bowls of fruit (classic choice lol), cups, or something along those lines is great too. Live subjects naturally move a lot so it can be mildly more challenging to start with
Agree so much ! Wonderful progress !
Don't be too hard on yourself. If I could change something in my process, it would be to enjoy it even more !! =D
Im glad that hands invoke a universal feeling of "ughh"
As an artist who has been burnt out for a few years, this truly warmed my heart and re-sparked something in me. Truly, thank you Felix
Same. I didn't draw shit in years. Time to change that!
I honestly needed to see this new video as well. I was shocked, nonetheless but I won’t ramble.. 😅
from all your fans bro fist! Felix, thank you from another artist stuck in “artist block.”
What if PewDiePie convert to Islam? Because he is disappointed.
"This is still better" about the thing you did months ago is a perfect summary of what progress can be like sometimes! lol You can always see new mistakes as you learn more.

@@starstenaal527 the whole thing is a little stiff, though not too bad.
I really LOVE when you draw buildings 7:18 it just has a really cozy vibe to it and I feel like you're already having some sort of personal style
he did mention that he wanted to pursue architecture in one of the heavy rain gameplay episodes 🥹
as an archi major I would also love to see him draw more buildings
@ right I remember. He definitely has a good eye for perspective. I hope he continues to draw buildings or landscape 🥹🫶🏻
Yes it look’s awesome
I loved the architecture drawings so beautiful
I feel like he's focusing too much on human anatomy which isn't bad to start with perse but I personally think he'll blossom when he draws environment/backgrounds. Like those artists with a couple subjects like humans, magical beings, and or animals but huge elaborate or simple backgrounds
can't wait for the next video "i spent 365 days learning animation"
it feels like a great way to progress with the things he mentioned. it'll be great for learning anatomy, plus it's great for drawing things you wouldn't normally. alot of us get in a loop of drawing what we like, pewds with anime girl and me with futuristic cars or eyes, but animation has a way of breaking you out of that comfort zone by making you draw whatever the scene needs.
He probably have dozens of experts willing to provide feedback at any given moment

I might just get back to Drawing again one day, thanks to you.
bro was suffering with success
This series gives me so much hope as someone who is also trying to improve at art later in life in a world where most artists start as kids, I'm doing this journey with you man, love to see your progress!
Adults have more self control and willpower, those help a lot with practicing something like drawing imo!
You’ve got this!!
So just start now
big fan blue :)
Good work, keep going!!
sucking again 😩🥵

As an artist, seeing you jump from colour to linework and back to colour and then to digital was so so impressive!!! Colour is a completely other beast and the processes of paper and digital drawing are completely different in my oppinion and you did very good! But the brush marker black-and-white Blame drawings were simply amazing! Your urge to always learn more has always been so inspiring to me, Felix:)
There is so much in art and it is also fun to try new things 😊
True bro.
How are you an artist

As someone who has Autism, ADHD, depression I get what ur saying bro
@@Stormwolf4 Maybe. Maybe waiting such a long time to get mediocre results is just as sad as never trying tho
Pewds helped to teach me that :)) what a guy
bro commented this 3 minutes after the video came out, what are you on about
@@Melavaaa so I can't skip some parts of the video and see the results at the end? I can't watch the video in faster speed? I can't get the point of the video especially since this is the third video in his drawing series? I can't use the previous video as reference to this video? Interesting.
@@MelavaaaI assume they meant the previous videos inspired them
Genuinely, thanks for this.
What are the proportions they used?"
It's been super fun, and it's a lifelong regret I've managed to rectify, specifically thanks to the push from this video.

Woww.Pewds crying but he knows that my videos is better
Instead of feeling discouraged, this inspired me, I kept going with drawing. Thanks :)
Same, apparently people are hating but this is motivating me alot
Love to hear this don't stop consistency is key
@@Lunkie envy, low self esteem and ego. That's why they hate pewds
Felix should redraw his 80 day whatever every year to see how much he has improved! I love when artists do that :3
There is this guy that appears on my reel that says “did I improve this drawing?” I think he is an inspiration to go to the next step (especially for shadows and colors)
Angel Ganev? He's such a gentle tutor for other artists
angel ganev mentioned?!?!??!
i never knew this guy existed but after watching just a few of his tiktoks, my mind is blown. good shout out
Marc Brunet came to mind. He mostly just touches up folks' coloring and it's actually wild how big of a difference color alone makes to the pieces
@@Sirawxy Yes, exactly!
Draw what you see, instead of drawing what you thing you see. Then draw what YOU see, that others don't see
"If i'm having fun, I would remain consistent" the term that I always wanna use! it may sounds irrational to others, but I'm glad to hear from him as well. Maybe we gotta do what just work for us all along without feeling too much unnecessary pressure
That's what fun is supposed to be!
Drawing is such a therapeutic thing to do! This should be a universal challenge.
It's not so much the creative part as the technical part of art, which might not immediately come to mind
haha funny number
This is so true 😭
Do you know what app he used to draw his art digitally? I’m using procreate rn and I’m finding it a pain to colour stuff in
@@Cussifi procreate
@@Cussifiim pretty sure he is using procreate in the video
Because of your second video "drawing 100 days" I picked up my sketchbook that I haven't touched in 20 years and I haven't stopped drawing since. I'm a little sad I didn't keep it going when I was a teenager but happy I found it again and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't have dove back into it without Felix. I'm so grateful for that.
Keep going 😊😊💯
i also used to draw a lot when i was a kid and just stopped one day when life wasnt good, seeing your videos make me feel that i could pick up art again! i feel like picking up a piece of who i was before everything, thanks man!
That’s the same for me but the art styles and genres change as well
What makes me so happy, as a professional artist myself, is that I like to think a lot of people will watch this series and go “hey I could do that” or will maybe be inspired to try for a bit just because it is fun.
Kinda the opposite really, youre just watching yourself not suck as much
11:36 “I look at it and I hate it” I thought it was really good, and honestly this whole video is inspiring
8:55 WHAT!!?? THE FULL BODY IS SO GOOD???? WHAT IS HE SAYING???
That's what I'm saying 😂😂😂. He's too op.
It is good, but he’s saying that the 80 day one is better, plus the anatomy of the upper torso is off and the pose is stiff so its easy to understand why he dislikes the drawing. I guess he’s being a bit hard on it tho, the coloring was really successful.
yes and its traditional too ...
yea it looks amazing idk what he's talking about 😭 that is amazing progress
I think you've inspired a lot of people with this art series, keep it up ✍
Yooo! You were my childhood, I wasn't expecting to see you here! I love your work
A future manga author/artist in the making and he doesn't even realize it.
Proud of ya
I grew up watching him
now he is a dad doing what he enjoys
I wish you a happy life
Should make a manga, will make you draw bodies more, landscapes, action scenes, and perspective. Will give you something to work towards as well!
This is a dope idea, I think Pewds would benefit greatly from an end goal.
They won't put in the work so they hate instead, sad really!
They just dog shit
I'm pretty sure that good ilustrators will see the true
Ummm can you please shut your danm mouth buddy 😢 please don't say anything about my PewDiePie you animal
Wise words indeed.

At some point, "it's not good enough" becomes "it's not the best work, but I'm satisfied"
Hey bro I just wanna say thank u so much for ur wonderful tutorials.
my art style has been slowly improving over the past few years, i draw relatively often, usually a few drawings/week.
ive been unhappy with how little my art has been improving, and this video just reminds me of how i need to focus more on my art and spend more time on it if i want to get good. this video is a peak example of how if you put effort into something, you can do pretty much anything, great video
WOW. THE FACT THAT YOU EVEN EXCELLED IN DIGITAL ART IS INSANE.
It is so real though, i hate myself for stopping when i got dissatisfied and hated my drawings, because that made everyone soooo much slower.
Great to hear you're starting your art journey. Keep going!
make video
You should make a video showcasing ur progress 🥳❤
if there's one thing i wanna have it's felix's consistency for everything he does
Pewdiepie inspired me to get back into drawing again and its amazing to see his progress in all of this
Thank you, Felix.
Great effort on ur end man
As someone in art school, you being hard on yourself is a totally normal part of being an artist and your progress is fantastic!! It's awesome to watch someone fall in love with art and drawing
So cool you kept going!! That feeling of "the sketch is better then the finished painting" is something a lot of digital artists have and there is ways around it :D
Going from line drawing to full color, which is more shape-based, is a huge jump. Your brain is used to seing and interpreting lines now, but with shading you have to know a lot about light, 3D objects, perspective and so on. So don't be hard on yourself, you are doing extremely well :D took me like 6 years to figure all this out.
I would love to see Felix redraw his day 80 drawing he loves so much, it'll give him such a confidence boost because surely then he'll see how much he's improved!
second this!!
a great idea!
Up
That would be so sweet it would help to see direct progress compared to the past and it can be really fun for him
"i looked at it so much it just pisses me off" is such a relatable sentiment, there is so many art pieces I've made that I've had to keep checking on to see if they look bad to me yet or if something looks very wrong that I missed, eventually it all ends up looking that way but I guess thatch a good sign of improvement for me!
Pewdiepie has retired so successfully
