    I live in Los Angeles. We had a respectable slot car scene about 25 years ago. At the time I was building open class chassis and motors. Then it all dies off. I recently discovered a shop with a 1/32 scale track and my interest (which started in 1968) was rekindled. I found your videos. Not only has the technology changed a lot, the techniques for making a fast car have evolved immensely. There are now tools and jigs way beyond anything we had back then. Now, all I need to do is enjoy your videos, but avoid getting sucked back into the sport as I once was!

      I guess you can’t un-invent technology 😁. The general progress has been higher rpm motors and lighter components. This leads to a greater need for accuracy and balance in what you are creating. I am sure people did some of these things many years ago but it made less of a difference with slower and heavier cars.
      Glad you are coming back to slot car racing, enjoy.

    thanks for the compliment. I am 50 years old and in the hooby I have been doing it since I was 10. It was love at first sight, and a platonic love. I left it for nunos years due to the economic situation, I have all the tools. When I saw the tool they use to cut cars, the truth was, I killed myself. I congratulate you because this. Beautifull. hug from Argentina.

      Thank you Daniel. I have also been doing this hobby since I was 5 years old. I have never stopped.

    Here in Argentina, the crown regulation is that it cannot be under the chassis, because if the crown were to pass under the chassis, it would touch the track and break it, apart from the fact that the crown is destroyed.

    How are you. I'm from Argentina, and I love watching your videos, because I always bring out something new. In this fourth video I learned how to take (with the gauge) the distance between the axle and the front end of the chassis, to know if the pillars, (or bushings) as we say here in Argentina. they are aligned and not crossed. For example, when I assemble the entire rear axle, I balance everything, even the axle. I congratulate you for the videos, that you always learn something new. greetings from Argentina.

      Hi Daniel. Glad to hear that slot racing is going well in Argentina. I am very impressed that you balance the axle. It sounds like you do a great job at preparing your cars already. Thank you for watching and leaving a great comment 🙏

    Great video again! I have never seen those type of bushings, but I will be on a search for them. Hope someone will post who makes them here in the US.

    Q - what solder and flux can I use on aluminium and brass - I looked up lucky bob but it's very expensive. Have you a recommendation for a specific solder and flux please?

    Would you employ the same method for installing ball bearings?

    • @CleaveTech
      @CleaveTech  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Ron, ball bearings or ball races can be installed in the same way but often I use glue to hold them in place because the holes in open chassis are designed to match the ball race perfectly. It is on my list of videos to come in the future 👍🏻

      @@derekr7814 It was a chassis jig that I purchased from SCD in the UK many years ago.

    James, what is the manufacturer of the bushings, and where do you get them? I can find adjustable bushings here in the states but they're quite different, and not always good quality. Thanks

      Hi Scott. I bought those bushings a long time ago. I think they are “Vitula” bushings.

    Do you use a 3/8 reamer if needed to enlarge the bushings?

      @@slotsoffunwith1345 I haven’t found a need to use a reamer with my chosen bushing/axle combination. The holes in the bushings are a good fit on the axles.
