Long time customer of LN here. Charles is the best! His 911 air cooled cylinders have given our racing customers more durability and horsepower than either the Porsche cast iron or Biral and they are much stronger than the cast Mahle Nikasil cylinders. Love the way he has reacted to the market and come out with products that will help keep our favorite cars on the road and track for a long time to come.
Very proud of what Charles has built. He’s come a long way from when we stood side by side @ the Dunkle Brothers swap meet in 2000 with his first CNC air cooled cylinders. 🏁👍
I became a first time Porsche owner in 2021, buying a 996 from a dealer, sight unseen. Actively looked for two years. I wouldn't be in a 996 (which I drive daily, track, autocross and show) if it wasn't for LN Engineering. Have the IMS, spin-on filter and low temp thermostat. The factory tour was great. I can't wait to see more of this. I think PCA should organize a trip of all the 996 986 vehicles that owe their lives to LN Engineering, and we will descend on the shop.
Great tour! As said several times already, highlighting the cottage industries that support the marque will be well received. It’s amazing what some of these businesses can create.
An ex president once stated “you didn’t make this”. On yeah? This is a superb video which makes me so happy to confirm that we can still do precision tech. I have their IMS in my 986 and am very happy. Looking forward to future videos in this series. Thanks.
Navarro is a great guy and provide a great service. Only dealt with him over the phone back in 2009 but very helpful and saved my boxster from the junk yard, back when their sleeves were somewhat more affordable. Inflation and fame does its thing I guess. Hopefully will never have to use his services again, fingers crossed.
Education on the bore scoring issues, frequency (incl M96 v M97), causes, repair solutions, and likelihood of continued risk of scoring would be very interesting. There is just not a lot transparency on how prevalent it is and why.
it would also be nice to see some mentioning of the Cayenne 4.5 and 4.8 engines that have been effected with the bore scoring issue also. It wasn’t just a 911 problem.
Tremendous video showcasing a top notch company! Growing up I thought billet was pronounced like "filet." :) In re bore scoring, I've heard a theory that the colder the climate the car is driven in, etc the more susceptible to bore scoring, have you heard anything along those lines?
We'll cover this in the video series, but the short story is that data point to bore scoring happening more frequently in cars that live and are driven in colder climates. One way to minimize the chances or slowing down the onset of scored bores in a cold climate (or any climate) is to not let the car warm up stationary. Turn it on and start driving it gently right away. This will get the engine up to temperature more quickly and the cylinders/bores to the correct clearances more quickly.
As a retired Audi/VW ( 47 years )and Porsche ( 1973-1982 ) tech I really enjoyed this video and can’t wait for more of a tour of LN.

looks good! I wish I were still able to do that kind of work daily.
Cool video! As someone that dreams of rebuilding my M96 engine someday, I really enjoyed this!

Happy to hear your Boxster survived.
Fantastic, I was just researching converting to a 3.8 perfect timing!
Excellent tour!

You will definitely want to tune into the bore scoring educational series. Look for it March/April most likely.

The engineers in the crowd approve!
I’ll second that motion!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
I swear I saw my M96 block in that video. 🤣
Fantastic video!!!!
Glad you liked it!
