    We jump back into the 1970 Camaro and install the nice reproduction fender for the car. Our Camaro SS had an older repop fender that was less than nice. We wanted to upgrade to a newer better fender. We install it for initial fit. We show detailed instructions on how to remove the 1970 to 1973 Camaro fender.

    Those reproduction panels can be a real pain in the ass to fit correctly. Nice job with the vid.

      Yeah, we plan on addressing the pain this Saturday and showing the results 1/31/19

    Thanks for the video, Jeff. I'm cheap and I'm poor and it's because I'm poor that I'm cheap. Actually, it probably looks better to be that way than to be wealthy and cheap. In my effort to save money, I will use the metal from the old body panels for other projects when possible. To save room I cut the usable sections out and recycle or trash the rest. I know that this isn't a new idea, but I thought that I'd mention it. As for the fender, even though I'm a Ford man, the process in fitment involves the same attention and effort; I look forward to the future videos with how you deal with this repop's idiosyncrasies.

    I've got an old "Motors" manual, on a lot of old cars, they directed you to cut a hole in the inner fender to access some of the HVAC components. Some of the cars may have even had a stamped outline showing where to cut. Forward thinking, those guys.

      Thanks for the kind words! There will be more. This week (01-31-19) we are showing how to fit the fender for a decent lineup.

    While you're waiting for the rims to come back from the soda blaster... put new bushings in the door hinges

    Might want to change out that heater core while you are at it, that is not a fun job with the fender on and its sure to go bad once everything is back together if you dont
    lol.

      We plan on a whole AC refit, from hoses to compressor. We'll probably move to a Sanden instead of the factory GM unit though.

    Those fenders are 70 to 77. So is the hood

  • @keithfirebird7618

    I didn't see any fender / hood bumpers. If you didn't take them off, then they were probably never put on. I've seen a lot of cars at shows, that are missing those and the ones for the doors.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  5 років тому +1

      The Camaro is completely missing all hood bumpers accept for the two front ones; and one of those is missing the rubber.

    not a problem with your fender but your car. yeah right. The old one fit fine. repops are junk js

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  5 років тому

      I go back to this: FIND an original fender that isn't beat to death and or rusty. The fit is decent on this part. And I stand by the fact that 90 percent of these cars as old as this will have damage. Hopefully well repaired damage, but damage. This Camaro has header panel damage, valance damage and an older reproduction fender.
      Fun fact: I have installed original sheet metal that needed just as much massaging as this will require. SO, reproductions need fit and fiddle, some are better than others; at least they are out there and one call or click away. I dare say that this whole thing we do would be WAY harder if you couldn't call up National Parts Depot and say "send me a clean, non-rusted, non-dinged or bent fender for $200 plus shipping".

    Love this video, working on my 71 putting this same fender on, question on the 2 9/16 bolts on the bottom. Do you happen to know the exact bolt size? Thats just the head size correct? and clip?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  5 років тому +1

      9/16th wrench. We got the kit from NPD. It is the AMK kit. Check the about section under the title, we put the parts lists there.

    • @williamcharles9480

      That's probably a 3/8 inch bolt with an 18 thread per inch count. In other words a coarse thread 3/8" bolt, but an automotive design fastener that's different than the typical hardware store stuff..

    Oh please. This junk fender against OEM parts? I just dealt with this same fender on a same camaro and its junk! Oval out those holes and bend and push that china part around to make it fit.
