- Install your Camaro sport (bullet) outside mirrors 1970 to 1981 Episode 415 Autorestomod
There are a lot of Mirror choices for Camaros. Many of them as bad as the swivel head sport mirrors installed on the 1970 Camaro RS/SS we are working on. We choose to update the car with a correct D35 Optional Custom Mirrors or Sport Mirrors from National Parts Depot under Part number: C-10186-18A (LH) and C-10185-7A (RH)

I just finished doing this exact same thing. Without it, you’ll never get perfect gaps. Everyone calling him a hack has never built a show car
Great vid Jeff, this is very typical of what you see on these second gens when it comes to sport mirrors. I'm about done with my mirror restoration and have a playlist dedicated to these mirrors, just because of the issues I have run into. On my next vid I will have a GM pdf downloadable link for the passenger side mirror placement for anyone who needs it. Also the reproduction OER mirrors are a little larger than the originals. This becomes very noticeable once the two are side by side. Again they are a nice unit, but for $300+ a set, I feel they could have got them the correct size. This is why I decided to go ahead and restore my original sets.
Thanks for the measurements for mounting the mirror remote bezel. Came out almost as good as yours did. Also did the zip tie trick to hold the cable out of the way so the door glass doesn’t pull it.
You are welcome!
Great video!! It gave me a good idea of how to do it on my 78 Nova. I want to add the bullet mirrors like the 75ss/77rally sport Novas had.
Glad it worked for you we appreciate you watching.
Jeff, in order to do this right on the passenger side, there is a bracket that goes inside the door. If you do not use the bracket the mirror will eventually loosen and mess up the holes drilled in the sheet metal. Unfortunately the bracket is not reproduced.
True. We don't have the bracket. If you (or someone else) had one I could get measurements off of we could show how to make one maybe.
Use washers
Thanks NPD.
Thanks for the help on theses cars
Sitting here watching Fords focus and this just popped up. 1st LOL
Very useful demo. Ty
Soooo...happy!
The drivers side large front guide hole will match the plastic mount bezel lower front that has a knob that is to line up while installing it. Since the plastic mount is the same part no. for both sides, then the large guide hole will be the last hole facing the rear on the pass side. It looks like the aftermarket plastic mount doesn't have the knob on the bottom of the mounting plate cause you didn't mention it. See my1970z28.com/COPO/mirrors.htm
I installed these mirrors on my 69, the drivers works fine but the passenger side is of limited value visibility wise. Question one of my mirrors is loosening from the base, do you have an old one you can look at from the bottom in, is the base bolted to the mirror head that I can just remove it and tighten?
Most of the sports type mirrors, Ford and Chevrolet, are held together with Phillips head screws, so you should be able to take it off and tighten the head to the base. I put sport mirrors on my 1969 Fairland wagon from a Gran Torino Elite, and the passenger side mirror is marginally useful. My. Mostly for looking at the quarter panel on the Fairlane lol
We take so much for grant it, ln modern cars. I'm working on a 99 Ford and everything is SO EASY.
Will those mirrors work on a 68 Camaro? Thanks for doing 1st and 2nd gen Camaro projects.
Not sure. I know that they weren't an option until 1970. Most part houses only list 1970-81.
@@AutoRestoMod thanks. Looks like an adventurous person might be able to fit them before a paint job.
Ha Jeff I’ll buy old the mirrors
We're putting them on the mower...how much? LOL
Prefit everything. I.Hate.Drilling. Fresh.Paint!!!!
ALWAYS!
National Parts Depot has no parts for pinto or bobcat =(
AutoKrafters does.
His arm flailing gets worse every episode. He’s like one of those inflatable guys at a used car lot. Other than that I like the channel.
He is me. I am flailing my arms. I'm working to keep the attention of people who like to complain...
Who cares?
