Aftermarket is a important part of the car hobby, but you need to support these companies. Example: parts for the Maverick, people begged for aftermarket parts. Now that some parts are being made, now the same people are complaining about how pricey the part is. some of the companies have already said they will discontinue the part because not enough are being sold.
I have a fun story. The owner of Ford Ram Air www.fordramair.com/ was BEGGED to reproduce the ram air for the '72 Gran Torino Sport by several enthusiast. He spent the money, and lo...they sat there...and sat there..."to expensive". At the time (2004ish), I knew of TWO of those original ram air units: One was in a car the other at Perogies. People think that everything should be cheap, we are lucky that often times things like fenders for the popular cars ARE cheap and available...
you all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know a method to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Dash Theo thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thank you for the video!! I have just one more question: I have a 70 trans-am, is basically same body and type of fenders. I remove both fenders to do some body work and now i don’t know how put fenders together, because the engine is on the car. If I lift up the car with the Jack, the sub frame “bend down”, probably because the engine weigh. Now, i put the fender with car on the floor or on Jack stands ? Thank you, from Brazil!!!!
So what was up withe bezel area and the lower valence alignment? Was very keen to see how that was rectified.....wow I was drawn in and then left ignored like a flat spare, lol.
Sorry Sky puppy. We'll be back on the Camaro after 6.7.19. We had to get the F100 finished. The header panel and valance will hopefully be seeing some love in the next episode airing 6.13.19
I have an '80 z28 and I did new door skins. On the driver side the bottom of the door is almost 3/4 inch gap while everything else lines up perfect. Is there a gOOd way to add metal to tighten up the gap?I'm a little disappointed because of the gap the old skin was compared to the new skin, and I'd really like to make a nice fit.
3/4 inch is a lot to make up. Were it smaller I'd use welding rod and worry it in so to speak. But that kind of width, I'm a little blown away that it is that off. email me some picts: jford@autorestomod.com
Sorry my camera is down, but I have all body lines lined up but there is a gap between 1/2 and 3/4.I was a little pissed off when I saw this gap and I have body experience but this gap get's me crazy. The door that came off had a pretty wide gap,and it was damaged so I needed to change the skin. The funny thing is it all welded together nice and fit sweet until I put the door back on.This gap is unexceptable.I'm thinking start over, and build the door frame to meet the skin.I'll just buy another skin and see what that looks like.I wish I could send a pic.I know the gaps from the factory on camaro's wasn't so gOOd.I guess this is where creativity comes in without it looking like a blind man put it together.I just wanted to ask your opinion, and see if my thinking is moving in the right direction...Thank You Sir...
What I don't get is why GM doesn't get into stamping out 1st and 2nd Gen Camaro fenders door skins and qtrs along with the Firebird, Chevelle and Nova. There's a shit load of money to be made here. Maybe if GM was doing this in the past, they wouldn't have gone bankrupt. People would pay big bucks for factory fitting panels from the big 3. When I say that, that means that both Ford and Mopar can get into the game as well as GM. Another thing I don't understand is why the repop manf can't repop to the exact factory specs. Is it a copyright thing?
The problem is mostly in the dies, The stamping dies are all gone, used up. I bet that the repops are fresh Chinese stamping dies. I heard that Someone had the original '55-'57 Thunderbird dies...but that they were so clapped out it was going to cost more than a new die to get them back up and running. GM, Ford, Chrysler, they don't want to be involved in the classic car business, believe you me, if they could make profits on producing the stuff, they would.
I do know it's box is not marked by Dynacorn. But, keep in mind that Dynacorn is a broker for companies that make the products many times. Same with AMD. The fender may be a "Golden Smokie Joe" from China (I made that one up) and companies like Dynacorn and AMD get them and distribute them. All I know is that the Fender is from NPD, it fit tolarably well and I might get the other one since the drivers side has "da cancer".
repop metal can be bad. the big difference is the thickness of metal. the cheapstuff is thin and will dent REALLY easy. AMD is the best stuff for crisp'est' lines and oem thickness sheetmetal generally. Thats what you want to get. BTW I just got totally lucky and got a drivers side NOS fender never mounted for 1000 bucks. First one in over a decade I have ever even seen for sale.
That RH fender( Firebird and Camaro's are even different sheet metal) must have been an issue with all '70's GM F-body cars. The one on my '75 TA, fits like crap from the factory.
Great vid. Like you guys said, all of them needs some work. I have some GM fenders that I'm installing on my 72 and they also need work. Nice work.
Thanks!

Fantastic video again. Happy to see another 2nd gen camaro getting love.
More Love to come. We'll be doing a toeboard repair, and interior refit as well as plenty of other things!

I would do it with the car on the floor. It will be as close to normal ride height as you are likely to get.
@@AutoRestoMod I’ll try this way... thank you!!!!!

Some models of cars had as many as 8 production lines. Factory Stuff didn't fit either but they, instead of ''you'', made it fit
I feel pretty sure you are right. I wonder what it looked like on the line when they were fitting parts...
Is the fender made by Dynacorn or Auto Metal Direct?

@@AutoRestoMod thanks. Too bad it can't be marked, made in USA. But, I'm with you, they are alot better than nothing.

That is lucky. AMD does some good stuff. NPD also works very hard to carry the best parts.
I love you videos always you guys are awesome but a Chevy in your garage ... LoL

Thanks for letting us know! I would Love to look at three or four unrestored Camaros to see how they fit.
19:40 Do NOT do that folks!
Ain't skeert. Never had it break a glass yet.
all talk and no action..
People probably say the same about you.
@@AutoRestoMod good comeback, hope ya get some likes on your comment. But again, a 26:35 video and most of it was jibberish. ZZZZzzzzzz.....
