I’m in agreement with you Alicia-stay home if you don’t want to wear a mask. Clearly people who coz a scene are doing it for clout. Hell I got my primer shot yesterday for the COVID 19 vaccine but am I going maskless? Nope absolutely not and I will always be masked up no matter what. I even bought one of those keychains for myself if you don’t like pressing buttons, opening doors, etc. I even have a small pack of Clorox wipes in my bag too along with my hand sanitizer.

People must be dense. These airlines have made it clear their customers are required to wear a mask on the flight. If you don’t want to wear a mask, I can’t blame you, but just don’t fly until the requirement is over. I’m not flying again until I don’t have to wear a mask on the plane. It’s not that hard to do.

I’m a flight attendant for a major airline and this year has been so challenging. It is crazy to see how selfish people can be.
Certainly people who simply refused to put on masks are being a-holes and deserve to be flown off. But for a flight attendant to try kicking off a family cause they’re two year old is eating is absolutely dispicable. The flight attendant said it was cause of the kid on her lap. Dispicable

Nope. Kids aren’t immune to Covid, seem to catch the new variant and do poorly with increased frequency, and they can also pass the virus on to others. It’s a virus, it doesn’t care if you’re a toddler. FTR I have a 2yo, he will not wear a mask. Screams and freaks out, he’s scared of them. It’s for that reason he hasn’t gone ANYWHERE this entire pandemic. Our house? It’s both the departure gate and point of destination so far as he’s concerned. Same goes for my 8yo. He will wear a mask so he’s gone outside with my husband several times. Outdoors only, far away from others. We explained why once and he understood. Let me say that again, an 8yo understands why masks, distancing, and vaccines are important. Again, not yet double digits, comprehends this. Why don’t you?
I'm glad they were able to get back on. How does a toddler get denied to eat. You can't feed a child with a mask in. The parents did have theirs on. That's why they got back on. Good for them. Unnecessary drama.

The flight attendant isn’t wrong. The rule for all U.S carriers is that 2 years and older wear a mask
They're also suppose to social distance and they're not. Then you're eating and drinking next to someone not of your social group without a mask.

For the first response, that is certainly an option. In these times, I would much prefer to be in control of where I go and stop. However, we have to consider several drawbacks. First, having disabled children is tough to handle on a plane, let alone a car. So to expect parents in their already stressed state to do all the work is a bit much to ask. Second, traveling in one's own car for a long distance can be a risk for not only the people, but also the car itself. If the distance is too long, both the people's nerves and the car will wear out. Third, as a more plausible argument, rental cars are also at a shortage for this past week. Thus, how are you going to find a rental car if that's the option you want? You might say to stay home for Easter, but it's unreasonable to slap one logical policy onto a whole family dynamic. (e.g. This may be the last Easter to visit Grandma; Let's take a break: we deserve it; etc.)
For the second response, parents in general are unhappier than single people in particular aspects (and depending upon each person's disposition). Thus, a plane trip is the fastest and easiest method of transportation for a family over long distances. Now, let's take the label of "parent" off of the adults and view them as simple customers. Is it reasonable enough to kick someone out of a business just because of your fallible policies that don't make provisions for special cases? If Starbucks had a policy of kicking someone out just because they wore blue clothes instead of green, would that make it right? No. If a policy does not make room for the disadvantaged, then it should not be a policy at all. Everybody else on the plane (so far that I could see) was wearing a mask, and if masks are all that they're cracked up to be, then they should not have a problem with a disabled boy and a 2-year-old girl - carriers of the virus or not. Especially if the people are already vaccinated.

They were wearing the mask and the child was eating. That flight attendant got some issues and unprofessional. She could have asked them how old was the child etc

The adults obviously put the mask on when they realized they were going to be kicked off. Too little too late follow the rules it’s not that hard. The airline said they kicked them off for the adults behavior not the kids. They got their act right after being kicked off and they allowed them to board again. Saying that 2 year olds have to wear masks is essentially saying you can’t fly if you have a 2 year old. Where did the age two come from? There’s no science to support that age limit. Meanwhile Europe is being far more realistic with its age limit for masks.

I’ve flown 16 hours nonstop to Hong Kong (pre COVID) a good percentage of the mostly Asian passengers wore masks for the whole flight. I don’t understand why some people can’t do it for an hour or 2 🤦🏾♂️🤬

my god I don't know where to begin. These people clearly have no idea what covid can do to your body. I'm a fit 28 M, wear a good quality mask even goggles when I am out and about and still somehow contracted the virus. Although mild symptoms, let me tell you its nothing like the flu symptoms and it took over a month for me to feel my normal self and still have some lingering side effects

Video said airline complained kids were not wearing a mask and then showed the dad with his mask off. Then goes on to say the airline is saying false rumors are spreading. I mean the video conflicts with what the news reported so I kinda see what they mean.

Would the passengers cheer if the pilots were kicked off for not wearing a mask? I have bad news for all the those passengers. Once the cockpit door closes the pilots unmask, and stay unmasked till the cockpit door opens. They share the same recirculating air with the passenger cabin. Nobody complains.

As cabin air is recirculated, it goes through HEPA filters that remove most particulates including viruses. Again these are dedicated.
Lastly, the aircraft's HVAC cycle dumps the entire volume of air in either cabin overboard.
So the probability of covid getting into either cabin via the HVAC system is extremely low. At this point, I'd be more concerned of surface contamination via the cabin crews.

I got fired by Amazon for refusing to suffocate in a soggy mask in their hot warehouse. I was literally physically inhaling the mask directly into my damn mouth whenever I was trying to catch my breath.

Airlines and their customers are there to fly from point a to b, as long as all follow airline policies, no one flies to deal with people’s (or trouble makers’) personal issues or personal affiliations. If you can’t follow policy , don’t fly.

Can you find a fun kids one. Maybe you can do a craft project and let them decorate it. Practice in the house wearing them for 3 minutes. Then 5, 15, 30, then an hour. All the kids in my country have been wearing them without a fuss. Not sure the difference. Try to make it a game. Maybe say they have super powers with it on. Like it makes mean virus "BUGS" run away. Let's go chase those bugs away! But it is better not to expose them at all if possible.

I’m just ready for masks to be in the past- whatever your stance is on it, this pandemic is bringing the worst out of everyone and causing lots of things to bubble to the surface from all the stress of the last year and a half .
Tensions were rising palpably before the pandemic. The mask issue is a red herring here, and taking them off isn’t going to solve the problems that lie underneath. Your mask is keeping you safe as the variants are on the rise.

@@lindamcdaniel2419 I agree we had very strict laws in my country from the get go, they did not even sell tobacco or alcohol, public places like parks and beaches were closed, no gyms or reastaurants were open etc. Dec is our early summer and I know many that had covid my husband and I included and we were very good at social distancing and sanitizing. Still struggling with fatigue. Masks helped nothing, winter is coming and we are still waiting for the public's vaccines. They are only done with the medical staff and some seniors and it has been two months already. I still want to know what is the world going to do about China? It is just to coincidental that when Trump took a stance against them this broke out and hurt the world's economy.

@@alessandrac1940 Since I wrote this comment I got covid and while it mostly a cold with loss of smell and taste for three days, I have decided to wear masks indoors whenever there is enough people, but I still do not believe in mandates. I suffer from severe congestion episodes (which was my worst symptom with covid) whenever I get allergies, cold and now covid, and if masks help reduce my chance of getting that then it is best for me. But not all people are like me and if we understand finally that covid is not going away and sooner or later health “experts” will have to accept it is endemic, then mandates of any sort cannot keep in place. Except for hospitals and senior home care places, no masks should be mandated.

True, COVID isn't going away and we are past the point where masks should be mandated everywhere. BUT it still makes sense to mandate masks in high risk settings like planes and hospitals cause u are in close contact with ppl. I still keep my mask on everywhere i go but most ppl i know don't.

This is so stupid. Airlines charge whatever they want for food, drink, 2 pounds over on a bag. All they need to do is create a policy that they read at the ticket counter or the gate to each passenger, that’s written in red before a purchase is made… That if they refuse to wear a mask, they forfeit their ticket and are charged an additional fee as well as being escorted off the plane or not being allowed to board if they don’t agree. Charge them $300 if they refuse to wear a mask even after being warned, and you will see a lot less of this.

@B N I wear a mask and have asthma and I’m perfectly fine. I had to change to a new one because my old one was a bit hard to breath to.
Also what does being claustrophobic have to do with a mask? You sit in a tight space that’s it, it doesn’t affect your breathing in any way.
Also, the kid who died probably had a defected mask (or a tight mask) and probably should’ve worn a better mask.
Plus, a humid environment doesn’t affect anything. Your mask will slightly get wet. That’s it.
And heart problems don’t have to do with anything either. All the heart does it beat and deliver blood. And carries oxygen. A mask protects you while also providing you air.
I’ve flown aa, jet blue, frontier, and spirit recently and none of them bothered me about my baby.
