Space Battle - FFA - Marble Game
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 тра 2022
- In space battle, four space ships must fight each other for survival. The laws of physics are obeyed - if a ship is travelling at great speed, it will continue travelling in that direction until it spends enough time thrusting in the opposite direction.
They have the following weapons in their arsenal:
Railgun - Fires an unguided projectile at high speed, devastating at short to medium range.
Missile - Explosive projectile that homes in at the target continuously until it hits, dealing massive damage.
Point Defense Cannon (PDC) - Short range machine gun that primarily is used to shoot down Missiles, however can be used effectively against other ships in close range.
Movement is guided in relation to the enemy ship. The ship has four modes: slight left/right or hard left/right. The ship faces the enemy ship offset by a small or large amount in the chosen direction, and accelerates forward.
Changes since the previous version:
- 4 player support has been added. Players will automatically fire at the nearest enemy.
Colours:
Red, Blue, Green and Yellow
Which colour will win?

Man I love how when you zoom in enough you can actually see the ships themself
Whoever programmed the green missile AI deserves a commendation; some of those "creative" flight paths were essential in avoiding point defenses.
Ditto whichever blue crew member was tasked with dodging railgun shots
Oh and how could I forget Yellow turning on the railgun aimbot at 4:40 pretty much single-handedly getting them third place
@@Interesting_Failure They just had the better firing computer man.
More seriously though, Green's missiles performed what's commonly called a "time on target" attack, as far as I could tell multiple times over.
hmmm yellow got targeted in the beginning so much surprised they didnt die sooner
green’s raingun accuracy was insane
I need to add some stats to this!
Usually whenever i watch a marble fight i watch the marbles, but this is so well done i can't keep my eyes out of the center of the screen, this is incredible work you have done
Perfection. If this were an app with customization for ships, I'd download without a second thought. You should be very proud of this, looking forward to future endeavors.
Really good! Green cleaned house! :D
Very much looking forward to where this concept will evolve to, it's very interesting to watch. There's a lot of potential for various tournament-style series, 'maps' with different obstacles and properties, perhaps different weapons loadouts, as well as the other improvements I mentioned in comment on the previous video.
Keep up the great work! :)
Can you do something with fleets? Like, the ships used here seem to be medium-sized ships (destroyers or frigates). Can we have fighters or cruisers? Like maybe a cruiser has multiple railguns and a marble semi-dedicated to point defense, but has terrible maneuverability. And a fighter has only 1 or 2 "rooms" and 1 or two marbles, most of that dedicated to engines and maneuvering, but with a weak railgun and a chaff/pd module.
That's what I have in mind for the teams version! However I'm not sure if I'll even still be using marbles at that point, there won't be enough space on the screen to fit all the plinkos. One option I'm thinking is to have all the ships represented as marbles in a shared plinko, where it would determine their behaviour instead of directly controlling the ship. For example, set behaviour to aggressive (follow enemy), defensive (move randomly for evasive purposes) or flee (increase distance to enemies)
Realistically the first teams one I make will probably be very similar to this one.
@@lostmarbles2d What you could do, is have several 'classes' of ship in each fleet, and have marbles of different color (that don't collide with each other) bounce around within each ship-class silhouette, each responsible for a ship of matching color on their side.
@@SeanMirrsen Thanks, another good idea!
Maybe a carrier that launches fighters that are, essentially, missiles with a point defence cannon that has a very slow rate of fire?
@@lostmarbles2d idea: there will be a carrier flagship that spawns all the frigates and cruisers and stuff but they will be ai controlled and at the start there will already be a few frigates/cruisers and destroyers all will be controlled by ai and the flagship will be like the ship we know rn but bigger stronger and a area to spawn ships
Well, first choice got second place, second choice got first. I'm content. And this was awesome. A shield system (flickers for a few seconds) would be interesting, too.
Thanks! Am planning to add shields at some point yes.
Green's crew very obviously outclassed the other three ships-very good with missile volleys, where blue was better at avoiding combat and not getting shot at. So, when the two went in at each other at about equal hull durability (green having just destroyed red and yellow) there was no question who'd come out on top.
I just watched the red vs blue one from a few months ago today, what a surprise! My man red didn't go so great in either...
This concept is so cool. Please more episodes
This is getting fun, a 1v1v1v1, great job on that!
Damn, green was getting some wild railgun snipes.
Blue Starship: Regalia 88-R. A vessel from the planet Dura 3 that has won countless battles against adversaries in the war that nearly destroyed 60% of Dura 3's life giving moons. Having dozens of medals for bravery and combat prowess, her crew was prepared for anything. Handpicked by the commander of the platoon, the Regalia's next mission was to head to a neighboring solar system for assistance with the world of Numbri. Dura 3 and Numbri shared exceptional prosperity until a coup by tyrannical groups on Numbri threw the relationship askew. After weeks of traveling in hyperspace, the Regalia had Numbri in sight ready to help liberate their sister world, but an alarm sounded when the ship's communications began to faulter, indicating something less than friendly was nearby...
Yellow Starship: Perihelion '72. A drifter in open space by the name of Joel was a merchant by trade, carrying precious cargo destined for a galactic museum on a floating space station city called Oasis. Joel and his band of brothers were aiming for riches beyond their wildest dreams and had just escaped from a collapsing asteroid mine with tons of the purest and most stable superheavy element ever discovered in tow. Sailing the galactic ocean in a ship they built by hand originally started as a shipping vessel from the year 3472 with impressive weaponry mainly for show. While cruising in the middle of an empty pocket of space between stars, Joel began receiving communications from what he believed to be an Oasis starfighter. However, he then was told from his youngest brother it could be space pirates come to intercept their cargo impersonating the starfighter, reminding Joel that one mistake cost their father's life. With his hand on the trigger, Joel felt excited once again...
Green Starship: H.E.S.V. 006 codename "Salvation." Warping from the other side of the galaxy were sentient machines taking on the form of marbles. Petrified after their home world of Technesis was flung into the icy grip of space by a passing black hole, their only hope to save what remained of their home was to harvest extremely hot helium from burning stars to keep the core of Technesis from freezing up because if that core fades, their consciousness locked somewhere in that world would be lost as well as everybody still on that world. The ship they piloted had sophisticated armaments to blow parts of stars into separate bits and was able to withstand the scorching heat from blue light stars thanks to the alloy making up the ship's heat shield. On the way to a helium rich cluster of stars, they received an urgent message: Technesis was low on power indicating time was running out. Ready to blow everything in front of them to pieces out of desperation, they saw three ship shaped shadows...
Red Starship: Devastation Infinity. Hiding in the void lived a secretive society of pure evil. These beings only referred to as Voidlets hail from a pocket of barren space located in a gap in the galaxy's spiral arms, likely concealing their home in darkness. It is theorized only 3 habitable areas here can support the Voidlets and they are a moon orbiting a gas giant called Umbriel, a group of comets circling a red dwarf star called Haven 2, or inside of a rocky and barren megaplanet called Omen. Going into this void to exterminate the Voidlets is a death sentence because once in, there isn't a way back out without getting overwhelmed by them, they blend in too well. Venturing out only to extinguish what they call "noise" which in reality was other being's starships, they love the thrill of the chase and relish in coming home with their warship covered in debris. On the outskirt of the void is this starship fully loaded and on the prowl, and they may have found some new victims...
Location: Milky Way Galaxy, Orion arm, lightyear positional coordinates X = -94,000 Y = 117 Z = 35,000 from Sagittarius A. A battle is about to take place in the shadow of a lost planet only known as "Outpost" 4 lightyears from any star. Incoming cosmic rays from a lightspeed Salvation has disrupted the Regalia's communication, which tries asking for assistance. Incoming transmissions from the Regalia are heard by the Perihelion but is confused for the Devastation Infinity in front of them. Approaching is the Salvation with it's arms ready to fire upon the Regalia if they do not yield. Appearing from the void is the first threatening visage of Devastation Infinity stalking the vulnerable Salvation unaware they too are in danger of being attacked by the Perihelion.
The battle has begun.
Here's an idea I came up with
Railgun shots can act as point defense systems, if a railgun shot hits an enemy missile the shot destroys the missile and continues onward
Fun fact, when I first implemented it that's how it worked but I ended up removing it because missiles were being killed too easily and frequently. Maybe I''ll put it back in.
There should be something to help losing colors. In mjltiply or release, you can do a 10k+ marble. But here if you get more damage, you are already a bit dead
It was the same problem for the mini golf : if you get 10 more points at hole 2, you can still win but with 15 more holes, you will get approximatly the same than everyone else, but with the +10. Here i have the same impression
Thanks for the feedback, that's a very valid point. One thing I'm planning is to change the damage / health system to instead be impacts on the plinko that can be repaired, which should give a bit more comeback potential for losing colours.
i mean the other colors are just as likely to botch one of the later holes aren't they?
Potentially, use of extra weapons could be locked to damage taken?
(Railgun only under 600 or similar.)
@@lostmarbles2d As a comeback mechanic, you could use a jolting mechanic. A ship that takes damage would have its marbles jolted around, increasing the rate at which they impact the various activators. If a ship doesn't take damage for a while, the marbles slow down again. Also marbles could start going faster the more damage a ship has taken.
@@SeanMirrsen That's a cool idea! I have previously experimented with allowing the ship movement to move the marbles but it didn't have the desired effect. The way you describe it sounds like it would work much better!
green team showed em how it's done :D love the space battles concept
4 player battle in spaceship battle! How about some more obstacles?
I am planning to add asteroid zones that would make small impacts on the ships. I have no plans for large obstacles as it doesn't really fit with my vision for space battles, but maybe a derelict ship or two would make things interesting :)
@@lostmarbles2d What about using some of the Lost Marbles or Death Stars from previous videos as asteroids? ;)
This idea that you came up was genius keep up the good work you are maybe my favorite marble content creator.
Thank you!
This scratches an itch
the grid in the background causes me to think of cosmoteer
Quite possibly my favourite to date
I love how you spell ‘manoeuvres’ at the start.
Rocinante vibes...
Love it. 🥰
Very good, I found the way everyone played it satisfactory and do you plan on releasing the download of this game someday?
I haven't yet figured out how I want to enable downloads, I've been thinking maybe Patreon.
There's a lot of additional work that goes into making these sims playable. For example I would like to make it that number of players, colours and stats are configurable. I also have some ideas around making it playable for users, nothing concrete yet.
Oh uh, I have an interesting concept for this mode to have, escape pods. Essentially, if a ship is close to blowing up, up to 3 marbles can use escape pods to either breach an enemy ship (prob gonna be too technical to accomplish) or act as a kamikaze (would be easier to accomplish). Feel free to include my idea and I hope it does not turn into something game breaking like the black hole issue, lol
Cool idea! I had already planned to make breaching pods (marbles into enemy ship), however escape pods would be an interesting idea in relation to having a different method of "killing" the ships.
@@lostmarbles2d what if also they were able to take over the ship but it would only be the marble(s) that breached it meaning the ship won’t be able to be as well maintained also if they beech the ship then the original marbles of that ship sabotage aka disable their escape pods so that way the new ones can’t escape again.
I'm not entirely sure what you changed on the graphical representation of the ships (the arrows), but it seems like there were a lot of times where a projectile would go through the arrow without hitting the hitbox of the ship. That was something I didn't really notice in the 1st one. Still really well done though :)
Thanks! The arrow scales with the screen size, so when zoomed out a large distance the action hit box of the ship is much smaller than the arrow. I tried implementing a mini camera to show the immediate surroundings of the ship so that you can see how close the shot came, but the screen became too cluttered.
@@lostmarbles2d those side cameras showing the ships and their marbles could maybe zoom out when an attack is closing in on them to show if the railgun shots or missiles get close? As much as we love watching the marbles bounce around, its not insanely important
@@fusionwing4208 That's an elegant solution, thank you!
how are you doing these simulations?
So is there some kind of programm or do you programm them yourself?
I program them in the Unity game engine.
nice
Ngl this is mikan’s space fight with more ships and health bars
Ngl, but I mixed up your original original red/blue Fight thinking it was mikan’s
Srry
Part II please!!
Very Good! But Red and Yellow ships looked like noobs compared to the ones from blue and green team, not fair :(
There should be some escape manoeuvres or a better counterattack to protect the ships.
8:39: Green: Hmmmm, maby this way? *Shot railgun*
Blue: Nononof *Dies*
Green: Dat was ez
Multiply/Release x Space Battle when?
What was the point of the piloting commands if the ships fly themselves anyways? I couldn't tell what effect they had on the flightpath.
The pilot commands determine the angle that the ship maintains relative to the enemy ship.
Wow
Is this a game that will be available to the public?
Would be awesome as a game like that Marbles Race game for streams where the chat can take part and duke each other out XD
Not yet, but it's on my longer term plans!
s p a c e
:D
E
??
I am enjoying that there is a BG now, but the grid is now pretty difficult to see, it might be smart to use a better contrasting color or increase the line thickness
My money is on green like last time
This must've taken a long time to make
Yep, lot of time and money (for assets)
Is there any way to play this ourselves? It looks so cool
I've been thinking about making a downloadable version, stay tuned!
Hey at the start dint it look sus?
5:16 red: Help me, help me, nigga
Is game playable? Were can I bought it?
It is not yet playable. I plan to make a playable version, will likely put it on my Patreon.
@@lostmarbles2d THX for info :) can wait when it will hapens
ok this is good one (spoiler in reply here(
green literally killed all enemy
Green got a lot of hot shots on blue
