Blue and Cyan vs Red and Yellow - who will win?
Each player has a marble that goes through the following steps:
1. Build the fleet by adding ranks and files, can repeat endlessly until the marble exits the area.
2. Select a weapon - Cannon (basic projectile), Missile (long range homing, wide firing angle), Laser (very long range hitscan), Beam (damage in a line) or Nuke (massive splash damage)
3. Select a special - PDC (destroys enemy missiles and nukes), Speed (increase move and turn speed), Stealth (reduces range at which enemies can detect and shoot this fleet), or Copy (doubles the number of ships in the fleet)
4. Select a behaviour - will it advance cautiously or charge straight ahead?
5. Launch!
Once launched, fleets will automatically engage the enemy.
Friendly fire is enabled, and ships can collide, which will destroy both ships.
The planet is defended by a powerful beam. When a player's planet is destroyed, they can continue building fleets.

this is probably the coolest marble battle game style ive seen! it would be cool if there was fleet formations (squadrons, triangular, square, circular) and maybe different ship varieties? like fighters, destroyers, carriers, and flagships. lots of cool ideas to pull from for this! also maybe combining this with the galactic conquest marble war style for more war of attrition with taking planets and building up an armada. still absolutely awesome nonetheless!
what is a "marble game"? I've tried searching using Google, but results weren't really descriptive. This looks interesting, would appreciate if anyone could explain
@@volchonokilliR a marble game is a game where marbles randomly bounce around and interact with buttons or whatever surfaces they land on. the rules of the game are determined by the game board and by where the marbles land or bounce, and affect how the game itself is played just by random choice!

it was super interesting to see this one play out! the lack of nukes in the endgame was a bit disappointing, but it made for an interesting narrative-maybe both sides saw how powerful nukes could be and signed a disarmament treaty...

That heroicism of Cyan Fleet 23 was incredible, saving Planet Blue at 1% and destroying 3 ships before ultimately dying was incredible.
It seems like there's only a narrow window in which Nuke can show up - after it's unlocked, but before More is unlocked (and steals the shots that would otherwise be most likely to fall into Nuke).
I noticed this too. Red was going to get a nuke but got shot back to processing.
They agreed on the space equivalent of the Geneva convention.

I like to think that Yellow tried to end the war quickly by using a super fleet (its 2nd Fleet), however this caught the attention of the other nations and they mutually agreed for a moment that Yellow’s super fleet had to be destroyed.

Blue was the first one to come into contact with the Super fleet, using the remains of its 1st Fleet as a recon group. They were able to relay the information to the 2nd Fleet. However, this would cost the 1st Fleet their lives as Yellow’s super fleet would intercept the Blue’s fleet message and attack them.
The 2nd Fleet would arrive moments too late and bare witness the destruction of the 1st Fleet. The 2nd Fleet would then try to avenge the 1st and engage Yellow’s super fleet. Blue’s 2nd Fleet’s attempt would be in vain tho and ultimate be crushed before Yellow’s 2nd Fleet, but not without inflicting heavy casualties on the super fleet.
However, during Blue’s 2nd Fleet attack, Cyan’s 2nd and 3rd Fleet would lend a hand and flank Yellow’s super fleet and assist Blue’s 3rd Fleet in the destruction of Yellow’s super fleet.
News of this battle would quickly reach the other nations however, and they too would attempt to construct their own super fleets (as evident with their massive 4th Fleets)
It was a red & yellow vs blue and cyan battle.
Cyan's 38th fleet was just sitting there sniping reds planet from the darkness and red had no idea what was going on until the very end when it was already too late
Stealth seems to be extremely situational. Meanwhile PDC seems to be the king - survivability wins in the long run.
I would consider adding energy shield, that can absorb beams and/or lasers but does not stop missles.
Those squares of ships really remind me of the concept of linear warfare

The lack of nukes... oof. Also, PDC countering 2 weapon types, and there are only 5 (which counters almost half of them!) Lowering PDC's attack cooldown may help.
I'll suggest a special: Wormhole - After a while, a wormhole will open up in which ONLY fleets with that special can go through. The wormhole is placed beside the enemy fleet. Note that entering the wormhole preserves the fleet's current orientation, so it will need to turn around to attack enemies from the side.
Weapon: Spreadshot - As its name suggests, it fires in a shotgun pattern but its "bullets" don't go far. (This works well with Charge.)
How about a part of the map. Well, since it's in space, how about a small moon that has a little bit of gravity? Fleets won't intentionally collide to it, and when they do, their ships obviously get destroyed. This also affects their movement speed, and blocks lasers and beams. Missiles will benefit from moons as they have synergy with each other.
I did have a warp drive on my original list of ideas, but didn't implement it because of scope creep and having already spent a lot of time on this project. Your wormhole idea sounds interesting, maybe I'll implement that!

Awesome concept, interesting weapons and utilities, well balanced (mostly: the lasers felt useless in the wake of the beams and I can't speak on nukes since we didn't see any) overall tremendously well done! (Another thing, I didn't notice the point defence countering cannons but a different commenter said they could, maybe remove that part of their functionality? Missiles seem relatively weak as it is.)

Point defence only hits missiles and nukes, taking 3 shots per nuke and 1 per missile.
Missile advantages are range, splash damage, and much wider firing arc (can fire sideways), while other weapons have to be facing directly.
Compared to beams, lasers have longer range and shoot faster, so they are good at picking off individual ships consistently. Also, if lasers are mixed with stealth, a fleet can actually sit out of range of the player bases/planets, slowly destroying it.
But I do agree the balance needs some work!

Nukes were seen, and they completely eradicated anything they hit with ease. There weren't many though.

Ranks seem inherently better than flanks, cause of the beams and maximum range, so I'd buff their movement speed as if they are were more airodynamic

I'd like to suggest Targeting Computers and Carriers as special abilities, where Targeting Computers would be the reverse of Stealth Devices in that they increase the range at which the equipped fleet can detect and shoot at enemy ships, and gaining the Carrier ability would turn the ships into carriers which spawn little attack ships instead of their normal weapon, and then the little attack ships would fly out and do the attacking without regards to the mothership's firing angle (but be vulnerable to the PDC ability). You could also maybe do Shields as a special ability, as a health increasing one. That could be kind of boring but so is just 'doubling numbers' and the copy ability still worked pretty decently.
Also i want to say I loved this a lot and if you ever make this downloadable and/or playable I'd love this even more.
Carrier seems like a missile a lot. They also can be shot when not aligned and are vulnerable to PDC.
Unless you wanted the fighters to be able to act as PDC as well and shoot incoming missles / fighters, there would be no difference IMHO.

It took me 13 minutes to realise that PDC meant projectile destroying cannon
I love this. A couple thoughts though... Having the bases (big dots) randomly float off screen is annoying, especially when its getting attacked (you can't see what its health is at). Secondly, I'm confused since yellow got defeated early on, but still kept spawning fleets. Is the only reason for the bases the win-con? shouldn't they be out if they don't have a base? It took me a while to realize that they're on teams (red-yellow vs blue-cyan)...
Anyways, like I said, I love stuff like this. I'm just a bit confused on a few things. Keep up the great work :D
The win condition is to destroy both enemy planets. I originally had the marbles be destroyed with the planets, but due to the balance of the game that means that the remaining player will definitely lose which is boring to watch.
@@lostmarbles2d You could always have 'refugees' flee to the surviving planet, including the remaining engineers and military of the destroyed planet, giving the remaining player a second marble...

Thanks! I did briefly think about what this would be like as a game, but it would take a lot of time and effort to achieve, especially if it's multiplayer.
Any first prototype of such a game would probably be single player with a very limited feature set.

Why was the yellow planet removed once he blue one died? The ships still spawn, if anything the ships would spawn on the remaining. Planet or not at all but with the remaining marble being 2x fast?

I'm another person who'd love to play this one. This is probably my favorite out of all the ones I've seen you do, it's 100% great.
Cool concept, but why does blue get to produce more fleets after their planet is destroyed? Feel like pretty much all the fleets that actually took down red and yellow shouldn't have existed considering, otherwise, what's the point in going for the planets? I get that it's a team game, but no lowered resources, no nothing, just good to go?
If you manage to reduce the enemy's output by 50% you've already won, because in the time it took to make this video I wasn't able to make the balance such that there is enough combat mechanics and combat variation. That was very much the idea, but during recording it would be very boring for the team that destroys the first planet to proceed to obviously win, so I changed it.

Hmm. Would've preferred if the fleets weren't just blocks like that, I think. Made the beam weapons far too powerful.

@@lostmarbles2d Could you try it with changing 'charge' to 'defend'? Defenders can stay close to bases and since there's no charge, armies would have to skirmish for longer. Could be long but battles would be amazing.
@@CemDincarslan I did experiment with lack of charge, but the fleet movements weren't as interesting as I wanted. But adding an option to stay back and defend would probably make it more interesting!

I am really confused as to what stealth does.
It reduces target acquisition range and attack range.
Target acquisition range is what fleets use to determine which enemy fleet to target next. This is basically the nearest enemy fleet, with some bias based on facing angle. So if Fleet A is distance 5 and Fleet B is distance 9, you will target Fleet A. But if Fleet A has stealth, this effectively doubles and you will rather target Fleet B.
With attack range, if a fleet with missile launchers has attack range 10 and shooting at a fleet with stealth, it needs to be at range 5 or less before it can attack.

I dont see the stealth doing anything
It reduces the range at which the fleet is selected for targeting, and the range at which enemies can shoot at it. For example, enemy fleets will rather target nearby fleets that are further away than the stealth ship, and when they do target the stealth ships they need to be closer before they can start firing.
