📼Video Summary:
This video covers a complete tour of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. The Millennium Falcon is a modified YT-1300 Corellian Light Freighter. The starship has had many owners including Lando Calrissian and Han Solo. The outside features of the ship include the mandibles, docking ports, sublight engines, heat exhaust vents, rectenna dish and the quad laser cannons. The inside of the ship includes the main hold area, 3 other hold rooms for cargo, the cock pit, crew quarters, engine room, gun turret access, escape pod access, quadex power core, fuel system, sublight engines and the hyperdrive. Due to heavy modifications to the ship - it is considered the fastest starship in the galaxy.

YOU LIL GIRL
Over 40 years since I first saw Star Wars and this is the first time I've seen anybody describing the Falcon as a pusher tug boat in space. This makes SO MUCH SENSE to me. I've always wondered how it could be a freighter with such small cargo holds. Thank you.
Same, I can't believe I've never seen this. It makes so much more sense seeing how the weird shape of the ship's front grabs the cargo. It even explains why the cockpit is awkwardly stuck off to one side!
Space Barge :P
same here! I always wanted to know how it could be called a freighter and be so quick and agile. I was not aware of the escape pods in the lower rear of the hull either. The 3D model shows everything better than a physical model for clarity along with the detailed explanations. Makes a fictional item seem so real.
In my mind it's like the cab of an articulated lorry.
@@brianconlan4215 Yes, in essence that's what it is. Or really, a barge pusher in space. Like we have here in the United States for pushing the long containers up and down the Mississippi River.

What's remarkable about this video is that it's better than the tour of the Millennium Falcon that I saw on Disney+. That video had no commentary, no text to tell you what was what, and was so random in what it showed you couldn't get a clear sense of where things were in relation to each other. Your video is clear, concise, gives the viewer a definite sense of where things are in relation to each other, and is just plain fun. It just goes to show what a difference passion and attention to detail can make.

I can't believe I've been a Star Wars fan for this long and finally learned that the Millennium Falcon isn't exactly a cargo ship, it's more like a semi tractor. For years I've been looking at cutaway diagrams of this ship and wondered, "OK but where do they transport the cargo, the ship is almost entirely living space?"
same
Considering that we have never actually seen one of these guys pushing cargo before its an easy mistake.
Exactly. My first thought when I saw the cut open diagram was "Man if I was in the business of moving cargo, this would be a horrible ship to have unless i was moving extremely small volumes of highly profitable / illegal items.
The millennium falcon is heavily modified for speed though it doesn't have standard sublight or the original hyper drive engine. They're upgraded with a "massive" turbo as such on the sublight engine with some extra heat vent stuff and the hyper drive engine was replaced altogether for one fast than most imperial ships up to cruiser class.
Yeah. Usually small cargo ships are pretty much all cargo space with a bridge and a tiny cabin attached and that's it.
The Falcon looks more like a personal cruise ship. One meant to give a sense of space and feel comfortable on long journeys.
I particularly respect how you added elements only mentioned in some novels and EU materials. Thanks.
I have to say, this is probably the best interior of the Falcon video on UA-cam. Please consider doing one on the Slave I (I refuse to call it a FireSpray).
Can’t believe the Falcon doesn’t have a toilet.

They might now show it in diagrams
Darth Sidious: What the hell is an aluminum Falcon?!
Ah yes, a robot chicken fan
galaxiesaver Actually the original name for the element was “alumium.” Then the guy who discovered it changed his mind and started calling it “aluminum.” He was British by the way, Sir Humphry Davy. Then British chemists decided they didn’t like aluminum because it didn’t sound “classical enough,” so they started calling it “aluminium.”
What do you mean they blew up the Death Star?!
@galaxiesaver funny how it's been called that for a long time though, isn't it?
What a piece of junk!!!
I think the thing that makes the Falcon what it is, are the three droid brains wired together to act as the main computer. A slicer droid to handle the comms and hack codes, an R2 droid to handle navigation, and an assassin droid for tactical. They always fight and compete for resources which are always overtaxed from the extensive upgrades to the ship.
This is incredible. Thanks Op.
I recreated this in Minecraft. It was a very fun build. Not only is it extremely accurate, it's fun just to run around in.
Space Balls really nailed it when they just put wings on a Winnebago.
And it has space breaks and a toilet!

...with a "I love Uranus" bumpersticker.
Could not still get over the fact that the cockpit is on the side
And the British side, at that.
Yeah what's up with that lol
I always thought that was weird, like it would be so difficult to pilot it.... but then again, it's Han Solo we're talkin about
Considering it's supposed to be a freighter in space, it would hardly be a problem. In fact, as shown at 1:20, it could actually be an advantage. The ship was never designed for dogfights or for navigating narrow corridors at high speed. The way Han uses the ship, having the cockpit centered would probably be better, but he was originally a smuggler, he wanted his ship to appear unremarkable and blend in, so he left the cockpit on the side. Then he probably got used to it.
@@ironcito1101 “...or for navigating narrow corridors at high speed.”

Where's the bathroom?
Over by the engine room I think 😅
They go outside 😂
All that modifying & Han removed the bathroom by mistake
He outfitted the ship with a plastic bottle ejector. It's much more efficient for a smuggler on the go to "refill" a Mountain Dew bottle and chuck them out into space. Having a bathroom took up valuable cargo space needed to move weapons and blow.

"Docking hatch on the top of the ship." I've wondered for decades where Lando went to rescue Luke from the bottom of Cloud City.
I'm blown away how inefficient space is used in that ship. Corridors, open spaces, divided rooms that need a detour to access, to many entrances.
And wanky ads. You forgot that.
It makes the ship an ideal smuggler's ship.
Personnaly, I was blown away how efficient and practical are the proximity of the main entry to the cockpit, the cockpit to the gun area, the cockpit to the living room, the main entry to the smuggling area compartments.
And i did not know that this model was designed to be modular for the buyer, which explains even more why there are corridors on the center of the ship.
And i am always blown away as all these was imagined in 1970 by GL and its crew :)
@@DarthRedbeard look I know it's intention wasn't to get a realistic model. They propably couldn't know it was going to be such a succes. First priority was for it to look cool and that's it. The original design looked too much like the Space 1999 Eagle, so Lucas asked for a saucer design and the result was what he have.
Nice work. Trivia: Originally the cockpit could rotate, and the normal "space mode" was sideways like a sunfish, but going "saucer" mode for landings. They abandoned this idea as superfluous though as the Falcon twists and turns so much while manouvering in battle.
Sounds cool. I think they might've recycled the telescopic cockpit idea for the B-wing bombers.
Wait, another ship without washrooms? Great animation BTW.
I imagine sometime in the future someone will actually build a working one of these.. Would be cool too see.
Gotta love how there's no access to the most critical systems...
That's partly true on tanks of today though, sometimes you gotta remove the entire engine to access a critical component. I'm sure there's a lot more minor access panels and crawlspaces that aren't shown here though to access some more cramped areas, but I'd guess more major maintenance overhaul would be done in spaceports where they can partially disassemble the ship due to it's modularity.
Would be great to have a first-person walkthrough of this model.
