Hi , I wonder if you noticed that in a episode of Andor when there in the antiquities shop that you see a map from Ahsoka . I wonder if you could see any other items that might be in future episodes in season two.
Great video. Can you do a video on Dash Rendar's Outrider? Rendar had so many modifications done on that ship that ever time he activated the ship he was breaking dozens of Imperial Laws.
Because of Starfield’s ship builder, I’ve been in this ship deep dive phase and I’ve gone through your library rewatching a TON of your ship videos, Allen. An unhealthy amount lol

I built a Millennium Falcon replica in Starfield by following a guide. Turned out super nice. Did wind up changing a little bit with the engine layout for lower power usage, but it still looks right.
I would like another video about this for the Slave I. Remember, it was once a prototype Firespray-class police ship before Jango and Boba Fett modified it to have all those exotic weapon systems and prison compartments to support their bounty hunting careers.
15:14 "Bolt large things onto your small ship." I mean, that's Hot-rodding in a nutshell. Ever heard of the Shelby Cobra? Take a car the size of a Miata and cram a 7.2L truck engine under the hood. The Millennium Falcon was Lucas' vision of a hot-rod spaceship.
In the original design for the Millennium Falcon, it was even more obvious that a hot-rod spaceship was exactly what he was going for. Basically a CR-90 the size of the YT-1300. It was over 1/3rd engines.
Kinda. Take that Shelby Cobra, slam it into the side of a semi, then take the front end off a wrecked AC Cobra (the UK version of the Shelby) and stick it on the front of the Shelby Cobra wreck, stick the W16 out of a Bugatti Veyron under the hood (somehow), add machine guns and a missile launcher, somehow figure out how to bolt multiple twin-charger assemblies out of Lancia Delta Group B rally cars onto that W16, then somehow figure out how to fit a full ambulance equipment suite in the trunk, add the interior of a Rolls Royce Dawn, let that interior get rained on and add nitrous. NOW you have the Millennium Falcon.
The Millennium Falcon is one of the reasons I love sleeper vehicles so much. What is a sleeper? A vehicle that looks like nothing special, may even look like garbage, and yet crushes your mind with performance WELL above anything else around it. And when it works, the Millennium Falcon is the perfect example of a sleeper.
Whenever I get into a discussion of favorite characters in Star Wars, I generally say "The Millennium Falcon." She has been a constant through everything after Epi IV. She has a personality, explained by her nav system (after Solo), and earns the love of her drivers, no matter the opponent.
I bet Chewie came up with the brilliant idea to coat the Falcon with stardestroyer plating. It's not just to be able to tank more damage; he knows how effective camouflage is for prey.
Han didn't fire the AX-108. He wasn't even in his seat and it was still going off on the Snow troopers. The Millennium Falcon was let off it's leash and shoot up the Imps.
A few other notes from legends (at least from the books I've read): One of the droid brains that helped control the ship's systems was sourced from a CIS tri-fighter control ship Part of the hull was rebuilt from a YT-1300P, the passenger variant of the YT-1300 after the falcon (then called the Stellar Envoy) smashed into a larger freighter in orbit above Nar Shada At one point the ship's digital control relays were ripped out and replaced with fluidics, then the fluidics were ripped out and replaced again The holo chess table and smuggling compartments were installed by a crime boss who once owned the ship A Jedi during the clone wars made modifications to the navigation system to track down a secret treasure which was supposed to help restore the Republic should it fall At one point before Han's ownership the falcon was decorated with war paint and used by a missionary healer to help a primitive tribe fight back against an oppressive force The landing struts have been repaired and replaced several times I recommend reading Brian Daily's Han Solo trilogy and Millennium Falcon, which are the sources of this bit of falcon lore
I think you mean the Han Solo Adventures (which is a trilogy), cause the Han Solo trilogy is usually used to refer the Ann C. Crispin books. But I'd personally recomend both along with the Lando Calrissian Adventures, as the three trilogies intertwine and complement each other quite well.
So the long and short of the Millennium Falcon is that he slapped as much powerful tech and weaponry he could fit, then suped up the computers to make the Frankenstein of cobbled tech all work with minimal involvement of the crew. Ya the Millennium Falcon is a god damn cheat code of a ship.
It's kinda bizarre when you think about its armament, TWO SETS of quad laser cannons, a set torpedo tubes & a ground defense repeating blaster, which is goddamn crazy for a civilian ship of its size, rivaling some of the most heavily armed MILITARY ships of its size, is the LEAST worth mentioning feature of the entire craft. That alone is enough to give a rough idea just how crazy the rest of the souped up stuff that got crammed into the craft.
I think it should be added that, though not a ship upgrade per se, Han had a secret compartment in his quarters with enough varied weapons, grenades, and explosives to equip a 10-man squad of soldiers.
If you include Legends in the mix, the history of this ship goes SO much further, and actually explains a lot of the weirdness of the Millennium Falcon and how it actually should NOT be considered a good example of a production YT-1300. The ship started off as YT-1300 designation YT 492727ZED, and was operated by the Corell Industries Limited Shipping Company under various names. Under this owner the ship that would eventually become the Millennium Falcon was kept stock, apart from minor modifications to try and wrangle this "hot-blooded", temperamental ship. Yes, the Falcon was a lemon from the start, and future modifications would only further hurt its reliability. This was actually due to an incident when the ship was fresh off the line, a refueling droid failed to stop filling the tanks when it was supposed to, resulting in a fuel overflow the VERY first time it was ever fueled up. And yes, it is possible that the ship was used to push cargo containers. Again, I do not believe that was the original design intent but it's more than likely an "ascended" repurposing, with CEC adding it to the list of many roles this versatile ship class can handle. After Corell Industries went bankrupt, YT 492727ZED ended up in the hands of various independent pilots. Some had great success with this ship, setting record times and winning races, while others... got marooned on a desert planet with a load of frozen fish. These pilots of course would make their own small modifications here and there. Nothing too big, but they added up over time. Kal and Dova were the first named owners of the ship, the first to use it for smuggling, and the first to upgrade the hyperdrive in any significant fashion, during which the ship flew under the names _Jackpot,_ _Hardwired_ and _Wayward Son_ before Kal's death in 44BBY In 29BBY the ship came under the ownership of the Republic Group, under the name _Stellar Envoy._ In Legends the ship is in fact confirmed to have made a background appearance in Revenge of the Sith, but I won't really go into detail as that's a bit of a point of contention and it's not really a relevant moment. As the Stellar Envoy the hyperdrive was upgraded further. Then came the infamous crash. Offscreen but near the end of the events of Revenge of the Sith, the ship was sent to Nar Shaddaa on a secret mission where, upon leaving hyperspace, it impacted against the hull of the bulk freighter _Jenridian Valley III._ This left the ship a wreck with only the rear end salvageable. And THIS is where the shear craziness of how heavily modified the Falcon became started. The _Stellar Envoy_ was purchased as scrap by Bammy Decree, a starship technician working for a crime lord. The ship was rebuilt using components from another wrecked YT-1300, specifically a YT-1300P, and once again used for smuggling - this is most likely when many of the changes to the ship's interior layout took place, giving it an interior that's far less efficient for cargo hauling than a stock YT-1300F, but better for passenger transport and high-value low-volume goods transport. However, the ship was captured in its first mission as the _Second Chance_ and impounded by the Empire. And the the Rebel Alliance got their hands on it. Stealing it from the impound yard, the ship was once again renamed, this time to the _Gone to Pieces._ The Alliance is also the owners that gave it its final, iconic name, the _Millennium Falcon._ That wasn't the end of the story, though, because obviously it was not in the hands of the Alliance when Lando got his hands on it. Quip Fargil was assigned to fly the _Millennium Falcon,_ but he got cold feet during an operation and deserted, taking the _Falcon_ with him. In guilt, he gave the ship to Dr. Parlay Thorpe, who used it as a frontier hospital ship. Thorpe was the one who equipped the ship with its bacta tank and extensive medical facilities. Thorpe eventually sold it to Molpol's Traveling Circus, where it was used as the pleasure yacht of the circus owner. However, during a Sabbac tournament, he lost the ship to another player as collateral, who in turn lost it to ANOTHER player, who in turn lost it to Lando. Lando continued to use it as a pleasure yacht, and under his ownership the ship was fitted with many of its current upgrades, until it became the ship seen in Solo... or something similar at least. And then we all know how Han got it and what he did to it. And that's the "Star Fax". I guess that means you can call me the "Star Fox"? Get it? ...I'll see my way out...
and if you ignore the terrible retcon that is the disney movie, the falcon has a lot more cohesive history. including that Han did at least two complete rebuilds of he control system in between winning it from Lando in an ACTUAL sabaac tournament, in which both played honorably (though Han pulled a fast one to make the falcon the ship he won from Lando. ) and A New Hope
@@kenbrown2808 Everything I mentioned except for the short mention of Solo was Legends. And I only mentioned it because it would make sense that, as Lando's personal ship, the Millennium Falcon would probably have been used as a yacht, like it was at the start of Solo.
@@VestedUTuber in the book, the falcon was on Lando's lot, because he was using an actual yacht to go to the Sabaac tournament. the disney movie ignores the fact it was already established that Han knew Lando for quite a while - including teaching him how to fly the falcon, when they first met. (since Lando had never flown on his own and was looking for someonee to teach him.)
i don't understand why so many find the idea that the YT-1300 was used to push cargo using the forward clamps so terrible. its literally the only logical original propose for the ship to be built they way it is.
@@MrChickennugget360 the original purpose for the ship to be built the way it is, is Lucas thought it looked cool. the whole space tugboat idea is someone's retcon to try to make it into a heavy freighter instead of a light freighter.
Don't forget the placement of the turrets that always has a role in a battle because the millennium falcon can hit you from everywhere because the turrets have a 360° view and rotation (if you put the sencor that lando had it would be even better) and can almost rotate at 90° so the only thing that you can do is having a very short ship and go in between of those turrets and dangerously close to not get hit and that is if the ship isn't moving Unlike the venator let's say that his armament is on it's sides and the upper part only the belly is undefended and if you say that it has missiles i agree but they aren't for ever And this is something that everyone ignores, the placement of the armament
@@raymondcroteau if you are talking about the millennium falcon yes i wsnted to say that but i didn't know how and i thought the comment got too long but good that you noticed 👍👍👍
Hence what Han would call the “money lane,” the area where the firing arcs of the dorsal and ventral cannons overlap where a target was at enough distance and positioned near enough to the centerline of the Falcon to be targeted by both cannons at once.
In SW legends, (Truce at Bakura I think) C3PO actually points out that the Falcon was better at running from the enemy than actually engaging against fighters, or larger craft. Even Wedge and the fabled Rogue Squadron pilots thought Han was one of the few skilled pilots in the galaxy, crazy enough to fly the Falcon as if it were a starfighter.
Yet even back in the legends, it was one of the most fortified, agile & well-armed ships of its size in existence, capable of holding off a small squadron of x-wings at the hands of a capable pilot. To say that the ship was actually BETTER AT RUNNING even after considering that fact gives you an idea that this ship can quite literally outrun anything & everything.
There's a quote from the Firefly universe, specifically the Serenity movie, that really speaks to me when thinking about the Millennium Falcon. "Ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. Know what the first rule of flying is? [....] Love. Can know all the math in the 'verse but take a boat in the air that you don't love? She'll shake you off just as sure as a turn in the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down... tell you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens... makes her a home.”
Seeing this makes me wish for a modern ship-based Star Wars MMO. Imagine starting with a humble OEM freighter and steadily modding it throughout your career until you have a beast like the YV-929 that makes any port official's eyes start bulging out. It'd be like your own cozy heavy hauler home that just so happens to have a bolted-on naval cannon. Scale that up to guilds & even player-led corps that can collectively field their own fleets and the possibilities are endless. Then again, maybe I just want Star Wars with EVE shenanigans like a player corp hijacking an ISD, painting it with sand camouflage, and naming it Vader's Mild Discomfort. Or Death Squadron suddenly getting jumped by a player-led fleet the size of the B-R5RB Bloodbath.
There's a lot of different directions to go off on with modifying CEC ships (mostly due to their lego like nature) but the one I'd most like to try is starting with a YT 1300 and however many YT-XC "minifighters" I can house on board and automate to make a droid fighter squad.
There's a book in Legends/EU where Han, Chewie & Luke make a temporary mod to the Falcon. An airlock that can attach to Luke's X-Wing cockpit. It can't be used in atmosphere, they still have to take off & land separately. But it gave Luke the option to join them after they enter space. Hmmm. Could we launch Buzz Droids from a hatch?
I saw somewhere that when Lando had it - it was decked out as a luxury space yacht. It only tuned into a student dorm when Han got a hold of it. Oh - and I do have a homage to the Falcon in my personal Starfield fleet.
if I had a stock YT-1300 freighter, first thing I'd do is replace that old janky cockpit with something much newer and more streamlined. There's way too many buttons to keep track of in that thing. Second thing I'd do is bolt on a modified or even custom built hyperdrive (I have a genius design floating around in my head). Then I'd increase the power of the engines any way I can. I'd also substantially increase the armor, shielding, and armament, buying aftermarket cannons, having spare backup shields (in case one goes, the next in line can immediately jump into action), and tactically acquiring capital ship grade armor plating from a scrapyard. Finally, I'd modify the front to be able to carry a loyal vulture droid wingman (or two if I can fit two).
One of the Star Wars novels that I read went into detail about Han replacing the wiring of the ship with something called a Fluidics system if I’m remembering right. Something about power travelling faster through the fluid lines than it would through conventional wiring. The faster power moved the more responsive the ship became. I could be misremembering slightly. But that was the gist of it.
If I recall, he put fluidics in the ship because of a job where the environment played havoc with conventional electronic control systems. When the job was done and they landed on another planet, one of the books talks about how Chewbacca took great pleasure in ripping them out and chucking them as far as he could.
He scrapped that wiring system because it had numerous problems and constantly leaked from multiple spots. It ended up being too much trouble for him and Chewie. He latter ripped it all out and rewired everything from scratch. I believe it was from the original Han Solo trilogy.
Essentially the millennium falcon is my old mercury grand Marquis with the SVT cobra DOHC 32v V8 supercharged engine. The heavy duty automatic with enhanced cooling package, the police grade axle and the monster brake upgrade. Along with the other stuff I did to the car for going fast. The car is one fast Q-ship
Sounds like the Ford Executive Motor Pool LTD Crown Vic I had. It had the Police Interceptor engine/axel, and would throw you into your seat just for thinking about accelerating!
Could you please make a video comprehensively comparing different Lightspeed-engines from different SciFi-universes, both cinematic and literary, and maybe ranking them in terms of top speed, maintenance, range or something along those lines? Would be super awesome!
I've often seen people liken the Millenium Falcon to a souped up big rig. But I would really like to see exactly what that rig would look like. Since it usually isn't actually carrying cargo, it would just be the main cab/motor. HEAVILY armored plating, and turret guns capable of taking out cars in a few shots. An engine capable of outspeeding most police interceptor vehicles despite its size, and enough fuel stock for long journeys at higher speeds. And add in some kind of super computer for running its systems such that its 'expert driver' could basically just turn the wheel in donuts and it would still self navigate to its destination.
I’d say, because the ship is a light freighter and on the smaller end of cargo ships, it is closer to a transit van than a 16 wheeler. Look up the super van or the van that Top Gear put the engine from the Jaguar XJ 220 in it, and the jag can hit speeds of over 200 mph so it’s not just any crate engine

Last time I checked according to the lore predating the newer films I remember that the ship was supposedly fitted with the brain from an R5 droid, which accounted for it's "peculiar dialog". The deflector ironically was "borrowed" from an imperial source until later the dish from a CR90 Corvette was installed following the battle of Endor. I remember catching the same information about the hot-wiring of feeding raw power directly into the weapons from the power core. Supposedly this was an illegal modification. Guaranteed that because it was declared to be a pirate ship in it's initial concept, were an inspector to board this vessel he'd find everything on it to be a violation. I'd hate to pay that ticket and spend that jail time. What blew my mind was finding the original concept art of the Millennium Falcon and it's worth noting that while the CR90 was originally going to be that ship (thus the blueprints differ in both respects). Obviously they changed their plans for legal reasons, thus we have the legend we have today. It establishes that the side walls are about roughly from foot to hip in height with the mandibles being considerably beefier. During the filming of Empire Strikes Back, the mock up built for the stages of Hoth and Bespin was built at only 1/3 the actual size with the only canon size version constructed being the partial built for the A New Hope set. What this means is the scene where Han is standing between the mandibles is only slightly larger than the actual side wall height and considerably smaller in the mandibles. Also, a fun fact is that this mock up being unfinished also led to the stories of the Pembroke UFO sightings. One of the means they had of moving it was connecting pipe lines to a compressor throughout the body so that when needed, one person could easily push the set Falcon around. Think Air Hockey, since it's where they got the idea. This also led to one footnote in that story of the Falcon where they described this happening. If I recall correctly, the ship's current unique appearance inside and out was penned out by someone who studied under Wernher Von Braun. NASA engineer and founder. His work also gave rise to other familiar ship interiors of the 70's and 80's, including the Nostromo. Reality is such a strange thing.
This is my favorite of the dozen or so videos I've seen so far. The beginning was really effective at giving you mechanical mod cred. She didn't have super great smuggling compartments, and she didn't have much space, I think he was being ironic, All her mods were to keep them from getting into this situation that they were in, And he was putting on a brave bragging face when he's talked about her smuggling mods. +100 entrrtaining and informative
It's an Amazon delivery van with the drive train of an F1 car, armor of a military Armored fighting Vehicle, and the wheels/brakes/suspension of a Baja 1000 4x4 off-road truck.
Never realized that this was the Video I've been waiting for... I've always loved the Millennium Falcon. My favorite moment is watching it bank and pivot through the Asteroid Field with John Williams' score blasting through the speakers!
The Millennium Falcon is a tough little ship...even survived Ramming a Separatist Warship during the Battle of Coruscant at the end of the Clone Wars! I mean, true, it was called the Stellar Envoy at the time and this was in the Legends Continuity, but it still happened!
Great video three modifications I would add, would be security scanner as you walk up the ramp, whole body scan, add a shower and toilet facility long hall no place to wash and pee, have two AX ground buzzard laser canons for crew protection.
I have owned a few vintage Mustangs over the years and don't care much for newer ones but I actually like yours, it looks really nice. You should be proud of it especially since you worked hard and paid for it yourself.
Allen I also bought a 2003 Dark Shadow Grey Mustang. I've kept it all this time because it's a Terminator (I'm sure you know what that is) but I really need to sell it because I don't drive it enough.
Thank you so much for this. The Falcon is one of two ships that i absolutely love in all of sci-fi. The other being the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. Your video on the Falcon gives the ship so much more depth. If you don't mind my asking, where did you acquire all this information on her?
Man i do inspire do have as much knowledge about ship parts and features as most starwars fans cause all m knowledge is just barely surface level. Watching/listening you list specific parts is just incredible.
I have a 66 Mustang with a 289 Hi-Po engine, a 63 Ford F-100 & 66 Ford F-100 , the 63 also has a 289 Hi-Po engine and the 66 has a 390 with a four barrel Holly so I like you Alan love vehicles !
Slightly off topic but this made me realize how damn good the CGI was in Solo. Like, the moment the falcon just going full ridiculous speed looks amazing by itself.
I always expected Han Solo to be announced as a Force sensitive. The way he flew the Millennium Falcon so many times is beyond what we'd expect from a regular pilot.
@@theMedicatedCitizen There are other characters that have a stronger than average connections (.e.: Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren). See how they perform...
That's only partially true. There's actually several factors. Yes, the droid brains hated each other. They also had one commonality between each other - their hate for the Empire. Which is actually the Legends explanation for why the ship refused to jump to hyperspace in Empire Strikes Back. It didn't want to run, it wanted to stay and fight. And then there's the fact that the ship had an infamous Compression Coil (TM) for all your inconvenient starship breakdown needs, found in multiple Sci-Fi universes including Star Wars, Stargate and Firefly. Also, some of the adaptors for the motivator were the wrong spec.
@@VestedUTuber sometimes legends liked to explain things that did not need to be explained. I do like the idea of 3 droid brains that don't always get along causing issues with the Falcone.
@@scottthewaterwarrior This has been a thing for a while, before the Disney buyout and the Great Canon Purge. But it's always been mostly a footnote detail.
So… did the Falcon use its class 12 hyperdrive to get from Hoth to Bespin in ESB? It’s kind-of hard to figure how it managed to do so in sub-light speeds, since it was obviously another solar system
iirc Canonically there's a month or so long time jump from when the Falcon evaded the Imperial fleet and when it eventually arrived on Bespin, so no hyperdrive
I believe so. According to Geetsly’s, it took about a week for Han Solo and co. to reach Bespin. Without it, it would’ve taken them literally at least thousands of years to cover the same distance.
Ya, that was some of what Han's repairs were doing, switching over to the back-up hyperdrive. Apparently rather than flicking a switch it's more like putting on a spare tire. Requires a little effort but it's easy enough to do as long as there's no bad weather and people aren't shooting at you.
@@nagger8216 No, you'd still need the hyperdrive for that kind of distance. The minimum distance between Hoth and Bespin is 1150ly, It would take 15 generations to cross that at relativistic speeds.
You know, I actually understood most of that, the detail on modifications especially relating back to old cars I personally get, it's like the robot in the Real Steel movie, wear yourself out beating me up.
If I had a stock Y1300F I would probably see how light and fast I could make it, we're talking using the lightest(probably weakest) materials possible to have the best thrust to weight ratio possible. Honestly, I would just want to see how fast that ship can *really* go.
Love this. The Falcon wins hearts easily. My other fave was the Slave I, from Jango and Boba use of it. Wow. Very happy with the array of ships in the Star Wars universe. We never get too much of a story of the Slave I which is a pity. As a former police enforcement vehicle, its capabilities are amazing. I always wondered if Anakin, not as Vader but as a smuggler would've enjoyed the gritty build of these two ships and how he'd have modified them with amazing use cases in mind. Anakin and Solo aren't that different as guys that like to upgrade things, as well as Chewie. At the same age, these guys as a team would've been formidable smugglers. Has the end story of the Falcon been written? I hope not. Hope it's out there being upgraded and loved by enthusiasts who understand her.
As a preference I’d pick an A-wing or a modified light speed capable tie fighter… but now with 3 kids and a wife a freighter is starting to look like a more viable option… happy new year gen tech may the force bring you subscribers.
Nothing like the pleasure you get when you put together a vehicle and get it running then there is the pain in the but when you have to keep working on it to keep it running .
In the novels there was a point where some of the ships systems were replaced with “fluidics” which apparently is the SW term for hydraulics. The fluidics caused numerous problems but eventually Han came up with the credits to replace the fluidics with whatever the original parts were, I’m guessing electronics.
Not a tow vehicle, a tug vehicle. Towing is pulling from the bow in front of the cargo, tugging is guiding from different directions, pulling from the bow, changing direction by pushing on the starboard and port sides or pushing forward from the stern and in the case of big cargo, like say guiding a cruise ship into a small port, four or more tugs are used.
Perfect timing! My girlfriend recently gave me the 1/43 scale DeAgostini Millennium Falcon model for my birthday, I'll release segments on the construction.
It's definitely at least twice the initial value of the ship, seeing as by the time we see it the Falcon is actually an "ugly" built from two different YT-1300s, both of which had previously been wrecked.
Someone says something almost identical in Starfield. You get hailed by a ship in space saying, "We've been trying to contact you about your ship's extended warranty." I promptly blew him up.
Yeah. I wonder if center cockpit interferes with the cargo mandibles. A while ago I had a fanfic idea of space pirates robbing the cargo shuttle from Rogue One. They would use a passenger version of YT-1300 so the crew had room for gunners and tractor beam operators, and mandible operators to snatch the crates. Then I wondered about a sister ship to be modded specifically as a gunship to provide cover. One would be port, and the other starboard cockpit to keep track.
@@konstellashon1364 It does, as the access hatch normally used for loading cargo via the short-ranged tractor beam array in the mandibles is replaced with the cockpit corridor. Same goes for the "Armored Hull" variant, except instead of the cockpit corridor it adds an array of fly-by-wire sensors as this variant is instead flown from the auxiliary control console in the forward hold.
@@VestedUTuber 😎 cool, thanks. The only purpose I can see for center cockpit is more passenger cabins. And the armored variant. I forgot about that one. Am I missing anything?
The falcon is like the GMC cyclone. I've one for a couple of years, and it was fast. In fact, it was faster than the buick GN I traded in for. Your story about the mustang reminds me those cars. I currently drive a Audi RS6 and it's also a very fast car.
I built a mercury grand Marquis with a DOHC 32v supercharged engine I liberated from a wrecked SVT cobra. A lot of the suspension I built myself to stick it to the ground and the automatic transmission was a nightmare to tune right. I managed to get a 4 piston brake calipers for a mustang to fit ( though I had to use much larger rotors). My beast looks fairly clean but grandma style, and aside from the push guard ( that I hung a pair of hella 550 fog lights on ). The idea is fast but stealthy
I think it was in the Legends books that Han upgraded the shields (again) with military-grade shields. There was a scene where to test the new shields he hovered a bit off the ground, retracted the landing struts, and then shut off the repulsorlifts and bounced the full weight of the Falcon off the ground. And in another book, he replaced the quad laser cannons with turbolasers. Basically, he took advantage of his war hero status and Leia's position in the new government to get all the best toys for the Falcon.

The way you tie things together and then later on introduce entirely new ideas/concepts/theories and then reinforce the whole thing with relevant and often possibly directly related references... man. UA-cam is full of copycat (most car reviewers -- me being a huge enthusiast myself), podcast type, you name it. You are one of the original few left. I can't sit here and give you advice because I'm just some dude commenting on this...but man what you're doing... it works.
They didn't, tho. Rey had a hard time grasping how it worked, thankfully it was similar to other ships he flew, just like Anakin flying the naboo fighter when the only thing he ever piloted were pods...
The kessel run was done In record distance actually, at least that’s what it’s known for, and by taking a shorter distance you cut time, but the 12 parsecs are a unit of distance not time
I mean, it did have a Class 0.5 hyperdrive. But then again it never really managed to go to Plaid. Wait... does that mean Spaceball One is faster than the Millennium Falcon?
15:17 Ok, so what was the Falcon shooting with in RotJ? In the battle scene above Endor, we see the Falcon chase a couple of TIE Interceptors around the Nebulon-B frigate. In both cases, we see laser visual effects and hear laser sound effects, and in the second, we see these laser blasts coming out of the Falcon's forward mandibles. Not the turrets, not the ground blaster, the mandibles. And we know they wouldn't be the concussion missiles because no one in their right mind would waste ordinance on Imperial snubfighters. And then, when the Falcon and Wedge's X-Wing are in the Death Star destroying the power core, we see and hear Wedge firing missiles (or torpedoes), and we see and hear the Falcon fire lasers out of the front (again, not the turrets or the ground blaster). Why does no one ever talk about this? Not the Incredible Cross-sections, not the Essential Guide, not the YT-1300 technical manual, no source seems to have caught this.
Incredible Cross Sections did mention additional weapons hardpoints, but only in the context of the concussion missile launcher (which is what it actually used against the Death Star's reactor, they just made an effects goof) and the hidden chin-mounted blaster cannon. The YT-1300 technical manual doesn't specifically specify weapons hardpoints beyond the turrets but it does emphasize how easy it is to simply add bolt-on upgrades. I wouldn't be surprised if the ship had an additional rapid-fire weapon mounted between the mandibles just for the Battle of Endor and then removed later. Unfortunately, though, there's no direct lore supporting this, just an educated guess based on the lore we do have.
@@VestedUTuber as I said above, my belief is Special Effects error. Adding another Turbo Laser or Blaster Cannon is possible, but wouldn't mounting it alongside the cockpit make more sense? Like a TIE or Y-Wing. Maybe if they had established that they could only get one gunner for the Falcon, and the other turret was set to fixed forward? Idunno. PS: not hating on you. Looked thru your recent post history and have mad respect for you right away 🙏
@@konstellashon1364 The problem with putting it alongside the cockpit is that it's not on the centerline of the ship. That would make aiming it awkward because it changes the positioning of the weapons relative to the centerline when the ship rolls, you'd have to constantly correct for that.
@@VestedUTuber I see your point, but wouldn't that be personal preference? Depending on what the pilot is used to training with, a cannon in line with the cockpit pov, or in line with the ship center axis each can have pros and cons.
Lol, would not have expected Alan's first car to be a v6 convertible mustang. Even if it objectively sucks, it's better than a lot of people's first cars. So I recently finally got an alignment for my car, it's been a nightmare trying to find a local shop willing to touch it because of how modified it is. Which is funny because the excuses I've gotten were all tailored towards the average joe that doesn't know anything about cars, and my friend had no problem aligning it in record time on his shop's fancy alignment rack when we installed everything. The problem is that he doesn't work for that shop anymore, and two different rear control arms broke which threw it out of whack. Anyway, so this shop agreed to sort it out, but they were not pleased once they saw what they were working with. It brought a little tear of joy when I read on the invoice writeup that the vehicle was "drastically modified". Damn straight it is, that's what about 30k worth of mods looks like. Poor financial investment? Of course. Really fun car? Yes.

You doing Okay Allen? You're not looking so good. Hope it's nothing serious.
Great video. Can you do a video on Dash Rendar's Outrider? Rendar had so many modifications done on that ship that ever time he activated the ship he was breaking dozens of Imperial Laws.
That crap looks absolutely hideous and disgusting. Would not buy if it was the last food in the store.
Because of Starfield’s ship builder, I’ve been in this ship deep dive phase and I’ve gone through your library rewatching a TON of your ship videos, Allen. An unhealthy amount lol

Ship also had a maneuver rating per 6second action round. T/E interceptors were nearly 4x faster than stander commercial cargo ships and get 12 actions compare to 3/with co-pilot you get 6.
WotC 3e Star Wars early 2000's, Ships of the Galaxy was ok and fun to play around with.
WotC 4e Saga Edition suck and had a bunch of limitations which the first two books didn't have.
Creating unbalance encounter ships are fun, Saga crack down on that.
All current editions of Star Wars still keep the average travel time from a planet to its nearest moon, base off of earth to moon distance flown within 30minutes.
WEG was done with abstracted dice pool to settle actions out comes, but space combat speed was set in hard numbers for nerds to power game number crunch.

Now factor in human reflex times at notice laser weapon locks on your craft and dodge/ rolling out of the way for how far range you can attack from.
2.) My past two game shops take the Falcon as base and add a set of quad booster engines for interceptor speed blockage runner speeds. We bent the rules to near breaking for engine speed/ weight size tonnage. In short it cost 1,000credits just to turn all the booster engines on. Then 8,000credits per 10minutes of flight. With 16 engines set in four sets of quads emplacements. Down time was measure in days after 30minutes of emergency flight speed.
b.) WEG lore on hyperspace travel detection and tracking, .. in short we created a 9m/20ft missile that could be fire in hyperspace to run down an escaping ship like Star Trek firing at warp9. cost 10,000credits.

@@WardenWolf Nice! I've seen some amazing Millenium Falcon builds in the StarfieldShips sub. Personally, I went with an Outrider-centric build
I would like another video about this for the Slave I. Remember, it was once a prototype Firespray-class police ship before Jango and Boba Fett modified it to have all those exotic weapon systems and prison compartments to support their bounty hunting careers.
I also like the fact that Jango destroyed all the other prototypes in order to make sure nobody else could have one
15:14 "Bolt large things onto your small ship."
I mean, that's Hot-rodding in a nutshell.
Ever heard of the Shelby Cobra? Take a car the size of a Miata and cram a 7.2L truck engine under the hood.
The Millennium Falcon was Lucas' vision of a hot-rod spaceship.
makes sense lucas was a hotrodder himself back in the day
In the original design for the Millennium Falcon, it was even more obvious that a hot-rod spaceship was exactly what he was going for.
Basically a CR-90 the size of the YT-1300. It was over 1/3rd engines.
Han could have made the Falcon pretty again, but looking like trash is a deceptive facade.

100%. Though to be fair, it _was_ as reliable as it looked.
Gosh you're so right, she's the ultimate sleeper!
It's not just to be able to tank more damage; he knows how effective camouflage is for prey.
chewie highkey a genius for that
The camo got even better later after it was painted black!
Han didn't fire the AX-108. He wasn't even in his seat and it was still going off on the Snow troopers. The Millennium Falcon was let off it's leash and shoot up the Imps.
The pre Kessel run Millenium Falcon is so beautiful though.
Lando was using it as a luxury vessel, so he fitted it accordingly.

A few other notes from legends (at least from the books I've read):
One of the droid brains that helped control the ship's systems was sourced from a CIS tri-fighter control ship
Part of the hull was rebuilt from a YT-1300P, the passenger variant of the YT-1300 after the falcon (then called the Stellar Envoy) smashed into a larger freighter in orbit above Nar Shada
At one point the ship's digital control relays were ripped out and replaced with fluidics, then the fluidics were ripped out and replaced again
The holo chess table and smuggling compartments were installed by a crime boss who once owned the ship
A Jedi during the clone wars made modifications to the navigation system to track down a secret treasure which was supposed to help restore the Republic should it fall
At one point before Han's ownership the falcon was decorated with war paint and used by a missionary healer to help a primitive tribe fight back against an oppressive force
The landing struts have been repaired and replaced several times
I recommend reading Brian Daily's Han Solo trilogy and Millennium Falcon, which are the sources of this bit of falcon lore
both good books,
I think you mean the Han Solo Adventures (which is a trilogy), cause the Han Solo trilogy is usually used to refer the Ann C. Crispin books. But I'd personally recomend both along with the Lando Calrissian Adventures, as the three trilogies intertwine and complement each other quite well.
@@scottthewaterwarrior yeah that's the one I was thinking of. The ones that take place in the corporate sector
Yeah, it his version of a "Man Cave." lol

I love that one of the most famous starships in all fiction is basically a tractor trailer hot rod that’s held together with duck tape
Kal and Dova were the first named owners of the ship, the first to use it for smuggling, and the first to upgrade the hyperdrive in any significant fashion, during which the ship flew under the names _Jackpot,_ _Hardwired_ and _Wayward Son_ before Kal's death in 44BBY
In 29BBY the ship came under the ownership of the Republic Group, under the name _Stellar Envoy._ In Legends the ship is in fact confirmed to have made a background appearance in Revenge of the Sith, but I won't really go into detail as that's a bit of a point of contention and it's not really a relevant moment.
@@kenbrown2808
Everything I mentioned except for the short mention of Solo was Legends.
Don't forget the placement of the turrets that always has a role in a battle because the millennium falcon can hit you from everywhere because the turrets have a 360° view and rotation (if you put the sencor that lando had it would be even better) and can almost rotate at 90° so the only thing that you can do is having a very short ship and go in between of those turrets and dangerously close to not get hit and that is if the ship isn't moving
Unlike the venator let's say that his armament is on it's sides and the upper part only the belly is undefended and if you say that it has missiles i agree but they aren't for ever
And this is something that everyone ignores, the placement of the armament
Just make sure you have the dorsal turret set so that it won't shoot the satellite dish off!
Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down... tell you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens... makes her a home.”
shiny
Han's favorite quote would be "I aim to misbehave."
Hey, I'd happily play that game. lol
But that was the gist of it.
the han solo trilogy.
If I recall, he put fluidics in the ship because of a job where the environment played havoc with conventional electronic control systems. When the job was done and they landed on another planet, one of the books talks about how Chewbacca took great pleasure in ripping them out and chucking them as far as he could.
@@patrickchapman8583 cool. Thanks for the update. It’s been awhile since I read them.
He scrapped that wiring system because it had numerous problems and constantly leaked from multiple spots. It ended up being too much trouble for him and Chewie. He latter ripped it all out and rewired everything from scratch.
I believe it was from the original Han Solo trilogy.
Essentially the millennium falcon is my old mercury grand Marquis with the SVT cobra DOHC 32v V8 supercharged engine. i think eckhartsladder has done that already
Have you checked out Generation Films? Not sure if Allen, Ben, or Ben has already done something similar but it seems to ring a bell.
Tesla is working on one right now.

I love your presentation. You sound like a mechanic who worked on those things for years.

Don’t forget the cape room!
Loved this video! Thank you!
I have a 66 Mustang with a 289 Hi-Po engine, a 63 Ford F-100 & 66 Ford F-100 , the 63 also has a 289 Hi-Po engine and the 66 has a 390 with a four barrel Holly so I like you Alan love vehicles !
The ship: *Exists*
Han Solo: MORE!!
In legends, the three droid brains hated one another and would sabotage each other, hence;why the falcon was so unreliable
I don't remember the droid brains thing, when did that get added in?
@@scottthewaterwarrior
This has been a thing for a while, before the Disney buyout and the Great Canon Purge. But it's always been mostly a footnote detail.
@@VestedUTuber Wait, was it like only ever in guidebooks? Cause I don't remember any of the novels covering it.
You would think so but they very clearly never enter hyperspace. I think they got around it by saying those systems were ridiculously close
Ya, that was some of what Han's repairs were doing, switching over to the back-up hyperdrive. Apparently rather than flicking a switch it's more like putting on a spare tire. Requires a little effort but it's easy enough to do as long as there's no bad weather and people aren't shooting at you.
@@nagger8216
No, you'd still need the hyperdrive for that kind of distance.
A great story for sure, what I can’t wait to see is the info on the ship Luthen Rael piloted in season 1 of [ANDOR]
The Falcon didn't have a kitchen until Han married Leia. He and Chewie installed one so she'd be more willing to fly with them.
Brass Tacks: the Falcon is OP AF!! And quite rightly!!
Awesome view from your apartment!!! You're blessed
Kinda wonder now what sort of modifications Anakin would have added if he ever had it.
Nothing like the pleasure you get when you put together a vehicle and get it running then there is the pain in the but when you have to keep working on it to keep it running .
With all of the aftermarket parts The millennium falcon is the Honda Civic of the Star wars universe and could you do a video on coreillia please
In the novels there was a point where some of the ships systems were replaced with “fluidics” which apparently is the SW term for hydraulics. The fluidics caused numerous problems but eventually Han came up with the credits to replace the fluidics with whatever the original parts were, I’m guessing electronics.
10:15 well not yet at least 🤣
Loved the mustang story, nice touch. 😊
Love this! Could you do one like this for the Ghost/Phantom?
6:39 sounds like a program code that was changed by the whole dev team without them writing // notes
Would be interesting to see the credit cost of all those upgrades vs the core cost of the ship.
Probably fair to say most were "liberated" from the empire at no cost to Han or Lando haha.
It's definitely at least twice the initial value of the ship, seeing as by the time we see it the Falcon is actually an "ugly" built from two different YT-1300s, both of which had previously been wrecked.
1:27 _And they ALL ate their words later on! _*_Nobody mocks our lady!_*
Nice video. Now you got me wondering what's up with Luthen's haulcraft in Andor.
Loving these starship/engeneering side of starwars explained! love to see more!
The falcon is invincible
Someone says something almost identical in Starfield. You get hailed by a ship in space saying, "We've been trying to contact you about your ship's extended warranty." I promptly blew him up.
Yeah number 74 that’s what I’m saying sup tech man
I believe Doc's outfit had blueprints for all her base and modified configurations. Minus what Han and Chewie for field repairs.
Are we ever going to talk about the YT-1300 variants? Like the centre cock-pit style?
@@konstellashon1364
It does, as the access hatch normally used for loading cargo via the short-ranged tractor beam array in the mandibles is replaced with the cockpit corridor.
Only learned if the "Millenium Collective" from your video. Between thus and the "big block" generator set make it too hard to pick a single favorite...
The modification is so out there, if you ever saw the movie ‘The Thing’, basically, same ship type.
Great video Allen. Such a cool ship!
So, it’s the Honda of ships!
So what I'm hearing is that the Falcon is an extremely fast pocket battleship designed to survive any encounter.
Dude, your channel totally f*&ks. Like every video touches on some deep and often relatable idea. 100% a fan of your growth. We love to see it. I can't sit here and give you advice because I'm just some dude commenting on this...but man what you're doing... it works.
It’s cool how Rey and Finn conveniently knew everything about flying the handily-placed Millennium Falcon…awesome video man!!
They didn't, tho. Rey had a hard time grasping how it worked, thankfully it was similar to other ships he flew, just like Anakin flying the naboo fighter when the only thing he ever piloted were pods...
Dang good video again, Mr Allen
The kessel run was done In record distance actually, at least that’s what it’s known for, and by taking a shorter distance you cut time, but the 12 parsecs are a unit of distance not time
love how serious you are 😂
Serious question: Could the Falcon achieve... LUDICROUS SPEED?!
What about... STUPENDOUS SPEED?!
Not without Liquid Schwartz.
Only if it can moichendized
I guess we just have to shrug it off as a special effect error. ☹️
Not interesting lore, unfortunately.
@@konstellashon1364
The problem with putting it alongside the cockpit is that it's not on the centerline of the ship.
Yes.
It's a DAMN good thing Obi-Wan had the sheer good luck to happen to hire the conveniently-located greatest ship in the galaxy.
Heres a fun game to play. Take a shot every time Alan says robust in this video.
You should check out Revan's ship, the Ebon Hawk
love to see another nerdy gear head 😁 love your unique perspective, always well thought out!
A good fixer upper has charm.
I want to see one of those ships kitted out for direct engagement. That would be insane, make it a space ac130.
