    I have a Avid Mark IV I started building in 1990 and it's been sitting forever. Really enjoyed your video and would especially like to get more information on the improved and wider gear. I've subscribed and hope you will post more info.

      Thank you Howard, I will get on that and make a video for you showing the gear and difference.

      I don't remember the guys names but if you search Avid on barnstormers you should see an add pop up for them. If you watch my gear video I think I posted the Link.

    Excellent walk-around. Waiting on FAA to get my Avid C registered up here at 49CN. What gas mix do you run, or are you running the automatic oil feeder.

      I live in CA so all of our gas station gas has ethanol in it. My tanks are fiberglass so the ethanol will eat away at the tank, be aware of this. If you are able to get non ethanol gas I would run 91 oct. So what I am running is 100LL mixed with Amsoil Interceptor mix. Hope this helps and send me some pics or videos of your Avid, Congrats!

    Nice video, I have a 670 in my Avid IV and have a radiator from a Rotax 912 just below the cheek radiators. I now have to put tape on to restrict the air flow. I was admiring your hangar, who makes it?

      I would like to see some pics of your set up. I am going to go the 670 route and admire peoples set ups. The hangar is made by Winkler out of Canada. Great company to deal with and I really like the hangar itself, but I hate the door.

    Nice brief - nice bird. I have a B with Jabiru 2200. I used to have a C HH with 582. I didn't like flying the 2 stroke as much as I like the present 4-stroked B. I find it curious that you have the exhaust mounted to the firewall as opposed to the original design to the engine mount. The motor does move a good bit on its rubber mounting w/changes in torque and in original design exhaust with it. I would think having the exhaust supported to the firewall would create an issue. How's that set up working for you?

    • @dcavidflyer3073
      @dcavidflyer3073  2 роки тому

      Thank you. I like the Jabiru 2200 option. I have not had any issues with the 582, even thinking about going with a 670. The power to weight ratio is hard to pass up. Yes the fuel is horrible but doable. I have about 200 hours on this set up and have not see an issue. I am not the builder so I can not contend to why it was mounted this way. Looking around I see there are others out there with with the same set up though. The large exhaust mounts seem to allow enough movement not to interfere with the joints of the pipe. Where did you find a motor mount for the Jabiru? I am coming up on needing a rebuild and am looking at all options.

    Great job with the video's! Your very thorough. If you don't mind sharing... how can i find the (upgraded) rudder pedal assembly that you spoke of? I just picked up a model c Avid (sn 250). The tabs for the master cylinder have cracked off the tube. I want to replace, not repair the assembly. Also... What main gear are you running?

    • @dcavidflyer3073

      Ken glad to help the best I can and welcome to the world of Avids. For the rudder petals replacement you can try searching here, avidfoxflyers.com/index.php?/forum/21-for-sale-and-wanted-you-got-it-i-want-it/. This is the Avid Kitfox forum, where you can try and find parts for your Avid along with posting help questions. You can also try calling the guys over at KitFox and see if they still carry the early model rudder peddles, which I think fit an Avid, or if they can point you in the right direction. For my gear I am running a set made by a guy back east. You can find his ad on barnstormers here, www.barnstormers.com/listing.php?userid=51790. Real nice guy to work with. Also if you want to drop some money and get some badass gear you can reach out to the guys at Shock Monster. store.tk1racing.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=272
      Hope this helps.

      @@dcavidflyer3073 Thanks, The standard is to wrap a thin metal strap around the tube. It stops the weld from braking. Kitfox now just welds a triangle to the side of theirs Either or.

    Hi
    I have Mk4 speed wing here in England. I’ve just recently done a load of work including flapperon and hangers refurb.
    I have an ivoprop, on a 3:1 ratio C box. Which seems to work quite well. Do you fly with a bit of flapperon set? Mine flies nose up if I don’t have about 5 deg set.

    • @dcavidflyer3073
      @dcavidflyer3073  2 роки тому

      Hey. I did not build mine so I am not 100% sure where the natural set point of the flapperon lays at. I do know I need a little nose up on the trim for straight and level flight. Let us know when yours is flying would love to see it.

      Thanhs for the reply, I think the problem with mine is, the wings are too short. I can’t fly fast enough, (without pushing the engine hard ) to get the nose down a bit. Setting the flapperons at 5 deg helps. I’ll keep a look on you Chanel.
      Steve.

    • @dcavidflyer3073
      @dcavidflyer3073  2 роки тому

      I really enjoy it. If you are tight on funds, and space, but want your bird dry, they are perfect. Check out Winkler, great company to work with. Only thing looking back I would not have gotten it as tall. Also the fabric door is trash. When I move my father and I will be building larger, metal, sliding doors.
