I am happy to see that you came back to the fab and rebuild of the gear. It was actually kind of exciting to see that you experienced the same issues that I had with the gear squatting once completed. It was truly a time to crunch the numbers. When the plane sits on the gear supported by it own weight is one thing but taking into consideration of the landing loads or side loads and keeping the gear from splaying out will be another. Good job Jonas. Does not look as if Ill be able to get much flying this year due to just getting into the crop harvest season but hope to get plenty of taxing in. Rick Clendaniel
Hey Jonas! I enjoy your channel and have for many years. Congratulations to you and Silvia! I and another EAA friend were taking turns hand pooping an old 1929 Byrd for a Young Eagles first flight on the 4th of July and I wanted to lend a tip on hand propping after my friend cut his hand nearly off. The technique is to take the blade when it is parallel to the ground and with one hand on the trailing edge, pull the prop with you as you walk away. Walk by and away from the propeller; less chance when done right to become an obstacle of the prop. Keep up the good work and my best to your beautiful wife.
It’s uncanny how often you’re going thru the same stuff I am with my projects! I’m just staring at my old landing gear/drum drakes designing a new setup. Looking forward to hearing how your went!
Ha that’s kinda cool! The Brakes are awesome. I probably need a stronger plate that holds the calipers. They tend to twist a bit. The brakes have a quite a lot of force.
Nice 👍 But remember, don’t just design to make it go right, design for those situations when it doesn’t go right, i.e. Safety Margins and Risk Mitigation 😉 Great videos, great project, thanks for sharing 🙏 Ps - you could invent some sort of remote ‘engine kill switch’, just in case ‘chocking the wheels’ for starting fails. Seen too many UA-cam videos of “Runaway” aircraft 🥺
It's super cool to see the technical solutions you come up with and how quick you adjust or make your own parts.... man be more careful when you test... perhaps ask someone to have a second look 🙂
A couple pieces of roofing flashing with some oil between them under the tires is a good way to test gear, it'll let the tires splay out easier, what you want in a test. A deeper cabane will make weak bungees work more effective. More drag and weight of course!
9:26 take 10 minutes or less to make a set of tire chocks and tie them together and throw them in the plane. I've seen some of the places you've landed, you could definitely use them ✌️ p.s. congratulations on the new baby! 😁
If you can put the bungees on by hand, it will be to loose. Look at the old pipers. If you think the bungees are too tight, that should be about right.
It looks like you have thought everything through. If some part of it doesn't work the way you thought it would, That's the way we learn from our mistakes. Can't wait to see your next one, Flying! In the next one, maybe you could include How sylvia and the baby are doing!
*_Very cool you can do your own work._* The first video that introduced me to your channel, you were building your own plane. *_Is that a project you are still working on?_*
Looks awesome! Man, real shocks are so much better for suspension dampening. Maybe it's not needed in such a light airplane and I do like your idea of using the MTB shocks for rebound dampening only.
Such a tease! Just when it's getting good! Really enjoyed every aspect of this video, lmao the VPN Ad, ooh my goodness lmao, Sylvia needs more twang in her accent. Def looking forward to the flight video. Cheers!
G,day Jonas from Sydney Australia. Thanks for showing the manufacturing of the composite fibre air duct. I would not have envisioned its airflow to the back cooling fins. Just a thought: some plumbing PVC pipes have thick rubber O rings for use in landing gear suspension. 🌏🇭🇲
Those bungie cords will develop a set over time. So you will loose a lot of your spring when the aircraft is just sitting around, they also don't like extreme cold.
i put a J3 cub shock cord ring betwee the axles with a steel cable back up in case the shock cord broke and i biult mine just like yours simple and fast to do
Ben Kairys has a dual brake lever on his stick that he likes a lot. I think he even sells them 3D printed, but I'm sure you have the skills to do it yourself.
Nice mods I love it all can't wait to see you having fun with the airbike. Did anything ever happen with the ski models I Just rewatched the ski landing it was so cool
Hello Jonas I have been following your youtube channel for some time , really like the content, I know might be strange but Im trying to contact John Roberts to get some landing gear for my S7 project but he is not answering his email so I wanted to ask if you had his new contact info ?

Good luck! Glad to see more aviation videos coming back! Hope the capella is on its way back as well!

One of the best kinda dudes right here! Good job on the landing gear, Jonas!
Nice 👍

Poly bushing would work l think in the axel
Real good problem solving, Jonas.
Nice work on the gear and the cooling shroud. Loved the add!
Ton of work, safety cables excellent choice.
You two are HILARIOUS!!! 😂😂😂
That's the first NordVPN commercial I ever LOVED!!
😂
Great to see you working of plane related building
You can use motorcycle spring
The trouble with a motorcycle spring is they work under compression. He needs extension springs.
Silvias southern accent haha..that was great. Very cool cowl build, can't wait for the flying video

That's a good idea! Yeah i should have made the cabane a little deeper.
I love your advertisements. Of course I leve the dest as well.
Please Be Careful, Jonas!!
Hey Jonas, Mike P. may be calling you about that new fangled material you used to make that custom air intake! 😂👍👍
Well now farmer Joe i ain’t no plumber but that gear is quite interesting. Why not just use a regular shock that’s more reliable?
Nice ram-air mod. You made it look easy.
I don’t much appreciate you pokin’ fun at us prairiebillies on yer fancy UA-cam channel! But seriously folks, impressive fab skills Jonas!

Send it!!!!
*_Very cool you can do your own work._* The first video that introduced me to your channel, you were building your own plane. *_Is that a project you are still working on?_*
I am it’s just taking a little longer to get back on
Careful.
Sweet! I’m looking forward to seeing it fly!
Come on strut suppliers! Send Jonas what he needs for a solid shout out!
Something about tig welding galvanized steel and putting the part on a airplane
Stoked! It's been such a long wait, getting back to this plane.
Every kid's dream, Oversized RC airplane with a sled motor,it's an upgraded radio flyer lol....
Good job, good film, and talk about leaving us on a cliff hanger!
Glad to see the Airbike up again. Great work on the gear and engine ducting. Would love to see a b-roll video of a half-hour hop someday.
Ok, earned a sub
LETS GOOOOO
turn for the worst
Jonas, please tell me you have Mark Patey on speed dial?
Your commercials are very entertaining! 😂
Glad you like them!
Looking to add brakes to my Legal Eagle. Can you say which ones you used for your Airbike? Just going to run the actuators to the joystick I think.
Looks awesome! Man, real shocks are so much better for suspension dampening. Maybe it's not needed in such a light airplane and I do like your idea of using the MTB shocks for rebound dampening only.
🤞🤞🤞
Love you Jonas. Guess I have to get back to asking God to send you more than just one guardian angel! :) have fun
Biggest issue with bungee is hot cold spring rate.
MAD
I really appreciate the videos of your metal fabrication. Very nice!
Hello from Minnesota!! Great episode!
Jonas,good job, start up ! 👍!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍
A turn for the wurst, or worse?
Haha both.
Looking good mate.
Making stuff and flying!! Hell yes.
Very nice!! I think this looks like a super fun airplane.
maybe you could try 2 buggies horizontally tying both tubes instead of in the same tube
So awesome! FLY BABY FLY
Awesome, wondered what happened to the air bike.
Such a tease! Just when it's getting good! Really enjoyed every aspect of this video, lmao the VPN Ad, ooh my goodness lmao, Sylvia needs more twang in her accent. Def looking forward to the flight video. Cheers!
Oh Lord!!! Stand back, I built this shit myself!! Lol Have a smooth Glide Captain!❤
nice! :)
😎
More, please! 👍
Really missed your commercials!
Yes, very funny and shows another one of Jonas's many talents, LMAO every time !
Kinetic rope might be a better solution 7/8" Love the Old girl is almost ready
Maybe that also exists in flat (strap) form. One ring of that fits over Jonas' bungee attachment points would then be all that's needed.
It's great to watch you fabricating your creative ideas. You really put the "mental" in "experimental."
There was a reason it was abandoned 😂it’s literally held together with zip ties and bubble gum! Interesting to watch though!!
I feel like 4 trampoline springs in place of the bungees might be what you need, may be less weight also
Well freakin upload it already then!
Glad to see you back. Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊John Ken

Your dangerous…I like it

Nice Jonas 😊👍 But where is the oh 💩 switch? 😳

hoping to use the skis this winter. I may have another airplane ill be using them on :)
Cant wait for the next video!
You may want to look into some garage door springs in lieu of bungies.
Another good video. How’s the farm and hangar/barn?
Sweet.. 1 down 5 to go..
haha true!

Yay 👍👍
0v0 Safety Glasses ‼️
please consult with brighter minds before you fly this thing. your curiosity may spell the end.
YEEEE HAAAAWWWW gud buddy! 🤠
Who is the vendor for the shocks you are looking at using. I can't read it on your video
Seems to me that you should concentrate on being a comedian. Nice to see the plane coming along though. Regards, Jim the Brit in NI UK
Why don't you wrap the bungie straps from side to side?
You’re such a tease! Lol good stuff
Cliffhangers
Put a rollerskate facing sideways under one tire...
Teaser!!! LMAO
Nice. Do you guys make adult content?
Put it on a peace of carpet or something next time will help that
1st to like the video
