This at 5:23 is so true and why I picked Ramlethal over Anji despite me liking Anji way more. The last one clashes with the "Take responsibility" attitude. However on the opposite side, I enjoyed the framing offered by a Valorant video I watched on Ladder climbing tips & mentality. The guy called it the 33/33/33 rule. 33% of games you're gonna win no matter what, 33% you're gonna lose no matter what and the other 33% are where you should put most of your focus on. It's a bit different in that game since it's team + matchmaking based, so there are objectively more games where "Outside factors" determine the outcome. But I think it's at least healthy to consider that not all games you play in FGs are going to be created equal just for your sanity to structure what you should focus on. I don't mean it in a way where you use it as an excuse, but maybe more so in a way that it is more objective to not treat every loss as equal.
I saved that one for the end because it's rare, but it can be a thing. Couple of examples 1) not sleeping well the night before an event 2) being irresponsible before an event (drinking too much before pools for example) 3) issues with power for a game (BB uses the most power out of all ps4 fighting games, so if someone sets up a daisy chain, the game lags) Usually the first 4 things are the things you should be focusing on imo, but there are rare times when something on the outside happens and messes with you, so I thought it was worth mentioning.
@@LordKnightfgc Yep, mind you what I said was meant more to compliment the last part and somewhat the video rather than to go against it. It's also coming from a more relaxed/casual approach. Speaking of BB, the one time I went to EVO, during my losers match both me and my opponent's stick disconnected / lost power at the same time during last game either last round or one round up for me. I just remember being ahead in the game state, like life advantage + resource advantage + corner oki. They instantly re-connected and I was controlling my opponent's character after we unpaused the game and vice versa. We settled on restarting the game and only playing the last round for the set. I'll never see a hiccup as fucked up as this one ever again. Sad to say, but I did not clutch the last game. It made for a very exciting match though.

It's all just mentality, there is an open minded mentality, and complacent mentality. Complacent usually happens to people with an intermediate understanding of a fighting game's mechanics and usually switches between their favorite "Mix" option alongside a few neutral options (while not understanding the benefits of one over the other). That type of mentality is normal auto piloting works cause if it still works why fix it. The moment it stops working repeatedly is usually a rude awakening depending on the temperament of the other dude behind the screen. An open minded mentality usually adjusts to a players habits or makes observations at the very least when confronted with the issue. Less likely to just give an excuse but to actually figure out whats happening, those types of players usually have more patience to endure long sets win or lose. Coming up with strategies they prefer against a specific scenario
What if you just wanna pick characters you like and just prove you can win against any other character Personally, I just don’t like picking the strong character solely because they’re strong.
