Homemade Bulk Electrolyte Drink Based On LMNT Recipe

- In this video we make homemade electrolyte drinks in bulk. We make a 30 serving supply and also a gallon.
It's based off the LMNT recipe off their website for people that want to make it at home science.drinkl...
For ease of measurement I tried to get as close as I could with Tablespoons and Teaspoons. But for the highest accuracy you can weigh everything using the recipe from their link above.
ALSO....LMNT is great to travel with. I bought a variety pack and brought it to Cancun. It tastes great and is easy to pack in your suitcase
Here's the recipe. If you have any corrections please let me know in the comments.
One serving with 16-32 ounces of water is.....
1/2 teaspoon of salt
400 mg of Potassium Chloride
1/4 teaspoon of Magnesium Malate
30 Servings in Bulk is
5 Tablespoons of salt
2 Teaspoons of Potassium Chloride
7 1/2 Teaspoons of Magnesium Malate
Mix it well. Maybe even mix it in a coffee grinder to make sure it is mixed well.
* One serving from the bulk mixture is 4 grams, or just under 1 Teaspoon.... per 16-32 ounces of water.
To make a gallon
3 Teaspoons of salt
3/8 Teaspoon of Potassium Chloride
1 1/2 Teaspoons of Magnesium Malate

Thank you for understanding that LMNT is very expensive for what it is. Making your own is better as you can control what you add to it if you need more potassium or less salt. I have found True Lime at the Dollar Store at a reasonable price. Thank you for the video!!
Thanks for the tip on True Lime at the Dollar Store and thanks for stopping by.
Just made my first 30 day supply. I have to be honest, I miss the TASTE of the LMNT. I added 2 Tru Lime packets to my glass and I was disappointed. I finally succumbed to adding a little MIO and it does taste better, but not exactly like LMNT. I appreciate all of your efforts and will have faith that this is giving me the electrolytes that my body needs.
Of course it does. But LMNT ratios are not good. Like most electrolite drinks, it has very low potassium. You actually need a 4700 miligrams of elemental potassium per day!
@@ResoluteltDo you add more potassium then?
Thank you 👍
Thank you for making this video. I have purchased LMNT a few times. You're right, while I believe it is a good product and it does taste good, it is definitely pricy. I'm so thankful that you found and replicated their recipe. I am ordering what I need from Amazon and will make my own. Whether I make individual packets or make it in a glass jar, I'm just so glad you did the homework for us. I did subscribe to your channel and look forward to more of your helpful videos. 😊
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.

Did you get any tips on non-gmo / organic flavoring options? I really want watermelon, grape, cranberry, pineapple and jalapeño!
Thanks for watching. Other than actual fruit I don't have anything at this moment. There must be something out there though.
I can only get the magnesium malate in a capsule form in Canada. I can get it in bulk as citrate. Is that ok?
Hmmmm. I don't know. From what I have read the citrate can be used as a laxative and the malate is for muscles. I'm not an expert. I just followed the recipe on the LMNY website. Good luck. That stinks you can't get it in Canada.
Did you do the math on how much supply you can make in total with all these ingredients? I see it'll all run me a little over $50, and I assume I can make a TON with the amount of ingredients I'll have on hand.
I had to reorder the Magnesium Malate about 11 months after I bought everything. I still have some Potassium. So in my rough estimate I think I'm getting about 300 servings. I did run out of some salt so that may be the thing you need to reorder unless you get a real big bag of it. So my best estimate is about 300 servings.
Can I replace this drink with my daily black coffee, please? Answers from anyone would be highly appreciated! Thanks!!
It doesn't have caffeine so I don't think it would replace coffee. And it sure doesn't have that wonderful smell that coffee does. But I do drink mine now on my drive to work before my first cup of coffee.
I hate the salty/sour taste... ia there any other idea to make it taste better?
Hmmmm. I see two variables. Increase the water and it will be less salty or increase the flarvoring. I like salt so maybe my taste buds are different. But I use a small squirt of MIO or some other water enhancer and that seems to make it taste good for me. Thanks for watching.
Thank you!
Thank you 🙏
