These are great pedals. I bought mine about ten years ago for about £50. I use it with my synths/drum machines/samplers. My only grumble is, It’s a shame it’s not a stereo unit like the Cathedral and Memory man which I also have. More fun and gritty sounding than overpriced Strymon gear that everyone has now and so no one sounds unique! 😅

I just got a good deal on a used Holy Stain; I like all the nice sounds! I quit feeling guilty for the number of effect pedals in my collection after watching Steve Vai explain why he has such a massive collection himself. Someday I may have two complete pedal arrays of nothing but EHX! Thanks for sharing- a great video!
I had to stop in the middle to go listen to Yes close to the edge “and you and I” and then blind faith “can’t find my way home,” great video! Thank you 🙏 😊
I traded in a TC hof2 4X2 ( Two Lemons in a row ) and traded up for an EHX Oceans 12. It is amazing my first EHX Pedal. Truly amazing company with clever design.
It’s funny because my dad has one of these & I really wasn’t impressed when I played around with it. There were a couple of cool sounds, but a lot of them qualitatively seemed lack-luster or otherwise seemed very niche & like I couldn’t see myself using them frequently. I will note, though- I was playing through a trash amp. So you’ve inspired me to try plugging it into a better one sometime to give it another shot. 😁 I do like the reverb- sounds super smooth. But I’m not a big reverb head, & also my amps have built in reverb, my DAW has tons of reverbs, my FX unit has reverb, my RC-300 has reverb… So yeah, I get the appeal if you’re trying to get as many core effects into one small pedal as possible if you’re just trying to tidy up your pedalboard, but it may turn out this one just isn’t for me.
I've had one for over a decade. The pitch shift effect is very "colored", much more so than most pitch shifters. The vibe this lends is great to have, it's very useful. I guess it's somewhat more "alive", not like a dead robot, lol.
I decided to get one (it was too good a price not to). Reviews seemed negative or nonplussed, but I actually do like it for what it is. I’ve got a Roland EV-5 and that is really useful with this.
Great tones but disappointed that I only get one effect with the distortion so I would need 4 Holy Stains to get it done, lol. It's a great pedal though.
I tried to buy one of these on Craigslist, the guy had it for like $50. Problem is he wasn't very cooperative and so I missed out, he must have sold it to someone else.
If I had to pick one pedal, minus tuner…and I could get good drive tones from the amp…it would have to be a wah pedal. Over the years I’ve developed techniques for flanger and Leslie speaker simulations. ….hopefully the amp would have a good juicy reverb….I could jam all night.
I have a lot of sounds on my Orange Squash Amp and my Roland ME 80 Guitar Sound Effects Unit, but I do like my Electro-Harmonix B9 Organ Machine !!! I Use Headphones Plugged into my Orange Amp !!!! I have overdrive on the Amp. But I am not a very good Guitarist !!! I can only play in the Key of Doh !!!!!!
Always wondered what that pedal sounds like. I have the ehx Cathedral and gave up on the room and hall, but now will try the room and hall reverbs again.
Oceans 12 Room and Hall is great but very control sensitive...the pos TC hof I had was easier for a quick tone...but the EHX is far smoother for me when I dial the tone the pedately and the Level to time ration. You just gotta tweak.
My long time guitar player uses only his fender clean channel and dirty channel,. Amazing player but can't get him to use anything besides tuning pedal
All I have is first pedal that was given to me used is a DOD overdrive fx50. It's OK but doesn't give that sound I'm looking for. I want aguitarist. Heavy metal guitaring.
I bought a used one from Music Go Round and the volume level difference between clean and fuzz/dirty is a deal breaker. Anyone else experience/solve this issue?
I guess its not really used to be switched between the two you either use one or the other, and it depends how hot the pickups are on your guitar as well.
@@dr.know-it-all5148 on this pedal it's the opposite. Clean is too quiet and fuzz and overdrive blow the doors off. Where's Goldilocks when you need her?
pedals are great for color, but inspiration isn't universal. So if I tell you a Zvex Super Hard On is a great pedal, you may or not agree, and you may not derive inspiration at all from the tone of the pedal. My problem with people who buy a shit ton of pedals is that it's often, but not always, a replacement for skill. There are tone gremlins who are good who just love pedals, and all the best to them! But then there are those who aren't. I know that makes me sound like a dick, but its somewhat true.

Excellent work Cuz thank you
My all time favourite pedal, I am on my third one lol.. it finds its way into almost every project.

Great demo. I love my unit. Quite useful.
I have been using it a lot more since post covid gigging re started.

I think it probably does. as does the holy Grail that I have.

Sounds like the Mission UK sound with the pitch shifter and fuzz

Cool video, I have one, dont use it, as I go straight into the Amp, if anyone wants to make a sensible offer in the UK.
Can you use multiple sounds / settings at one time? Its either tremolo or reverb but not both at the same time?
Sadly no that's the only drawback
When in Tremolo mode if you turn the "amount" knob clockwise, some reverb is applied.

I prefer individual pedals per effect.

You are absolutely correct. And so is my preference.🤣
Yep. One stomp box per effect is the only way to roll. I use this as a fuzz box.
