Another week another tutorial! This one took a bit longer than usual so hopefully it gets 20 billions views. For a change, here's a beginner's guide to digital art! Most of the things you should know to get started the right way. Obviously, not for you if you're more advanced, but if you know someone who's just beginning the journey share this video with them! Let me know if it helps!
What do you think of the new setup? Any recommendations? How's the audio? Sounds good to me but I'm getting some noise pads to get rid of the bit of leftover echo. Hope it helps the next one :-)
Also, have a good weekend I'll be in Cyberpunk 2077 so I know I will.

I really like your video quality and the editing :)
As I have recently got into reading the manga of Attack on Titan, I've come to notice the insane amount of facial expressions, the art style is fairly simple but so effective, no character looks the same, they react different down to a small shift in linework.
So I'd be interested if you could do a tutorial on that, making faces seem more alive ^^

I am VERY used to pencil drawing, so the leap to my iPad is tough to get used to. I’m trying though. Most of my problems comes from the feel of the slick screen compared to paper. I’m getting there though. I also could use technique with some of the option in layers, brush type and filters. Like what works the best with all the drop downs for certain things. I’m using procreate and really love it. Edit: I wrote this comment early in the video and now you’re going over some of this. Duh on me. Thanks!!

@@kalegrape8510 the makeshift stylus is made by destroying a pen (unscrewing cap and taking everything out) then you put aluminium foil around the handle and fold a bit into the pen through the opening where the tip was, then you jam a cotton swap in there which should hold the aluminium in place too. To make it work dip the cotton part in water so it's wet, but not dripping wet, like a strong dampness? And hold the makeshift stylus by the aluminium foil covered handle otherwise it won't work.

10:00 One important thing to remember, the resolution number serves no purpose if you use Pixels to determine the size of the canvas. You'll need to choose one of the other measurement systems, and then the canvas size will be calculated into pixels, related to the resolution number you've chosen.

I agree with pretty much all of the video. One thing I have always said/experienced is when better artists tell beginners "use the cheap stuff at first" I understand it is more of a "use cheap stuff to see if you even like it before you spend a lot" but its taken as "beginners should use cheap stuff at first because its better suited for beginners" when that couldn't be further from the truth. (this applies to all forms of art) mid tier - expensive tools/supplies tend to be leaps and bounds easier to use than the "cheap stuff" I think if more practiced artists would make that clear it would be more efficient for the beginners learning process. Great video man keep up the great work :)

I'm always watching those videos aimed at beginners because you never know what you could learn.
Also I have to say Marc your videos lately had a great effect on my motivation. Rewatched some videos and getting how stuff works makes me want to try harder.

I never been interested in anything but I finally decided to pursue something or else I would have no reason to continue living so I have chosen to getting started in art. I love the fact of being to create something that can influence or impact other people and it is just wonderful. I hope I will do better in the future.

I have been trying to get things together in my life for years now so I can finally start my life-long dream of making art and sharing it with the world. Unfortunately I made a pretty painful mistake recently and so even though I finally got a new PC after 6 years of saving and am financially able to keep the roof over my head, I am probably still realistically a year away from even being able to start unless I get help from someone. But I can't bring myself to ask for help so I just ended up getting discouraged as time went on.
I'm really glad I found your channel today. At least now I can still learn while I wait for my own stupidity to stop biting me in the ass xD

I was drawing traditional, and only started on my tablet with no screen, and was thinking that i can't used to it, but i only drew on it like 2 month,

Yes the brushes work in clip studio pro
Requires latest update version 1.10.5 to read the file type correctly
Really simple to import. Just go to your brush dropdown bar and click import sub tool and bam

Great stuff Marc, I often send beginners to your channel... your content is really wonderful. I only have basic tutorials, so when I have followers that’s don’t understand a lot of the fundamentals & terminology hook them up to you.

If you don't have money to get a tablet, DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. You *can* start, and get *really* good with a mouse. All of the art by *SLEEPYGRIMM* is done with a mouse! Digital is a fun medium, so don't let the overhead costs put you off! You *can* start smaller and work your way up and have a blast doing it. Don't make art a chore, just have fun regardless of what equipment you have!!! 🥳😄💕🎉

Hi Marc! Thanks for this video. You may not read this comment but thank you for inspiring me to learn to draw. I always wanted to draw but my parents didn't want me to have a "useless" career (Asian parents). But I'm 31 now, and I want to learn art. I'm going to give this my all. See you all in one year to see what I managed to do.

Wow, you're interesting AND super helpful! I'm just trying to pick up drawing as a hobby (gotta find something else to stave off the lockdown boredom) and this video is a nice guide to point me towards the right direction! Thanks for making these :)

back in sec school, a classmate ruined my right arm, elbow and wrist and has been a pain in the ass (hand) to draw on paper ever since... so I went it to try digital...
I've been instead painting for years, since the brush doesn't hurt that much, but now I've been going up to draw and found it's smooth and doesn't bring up much uncomfortability, however the difference from paper/canvass to a tablet is odd and couldn't really draw much, but this vid helps me a lot to make it through more and back to draw again!
(yes, there's a long backstory behind, but the How is not the point lol)

I've had a Wacom Intuos Comic tablet for OVER A DECADE, so I can't say how innovative it is, or how it compares to other tablets, because it seems to be INFINITELY DURABLE somehow lol.
Its my first tablet, and Medibang is my first pro(ish) program. They certainly do work for digital beginners such as myself anyways, BIG recommend from me :)
