- This video is basically a huge shout out to Oscillator Sink and his great tutorial on creating a generative style patch on the Deepmind 12. I tried to take his ideas and then make them my own so I wasn't just a carbon copy and this is the result. I chose some chords ahead of time and then just went with the flow and tweaked away.
Be forewarned that there is a lot of low end, especially in the beginning, so good speakers+sub or good headphones are recommended!

Beautiful! I'm sure Oscillator Sink would be proud as should you.
Stunning sound design.
I loved this and the link to the tutorial. Thanks!
best D12 demoes on the youtubes
Much appreciated 🙏😎
👍I LOVE ! 💙⚪❤
Thanks to your glorious demos I am awaiting the delivery of my DM12. It should arrive almost on my birthday as luck would have it. So you're to blame for my lighter wallet!! Keep up the good tunes. Looking forward to doing some sounds of my own.
Congrats and apologies to your wallet! 😎😁
Same!
Great sound! It's real magic!
😁😁
A genuinely lovely job. It's rare to see someone give credit to other people for their tutorials (especially on UA-cam) so it's hard to decide what I like more about this video: the performance - or the decency of the artist's spirit who is behind it. 🎛🎹🎚
To me the community only benefits from encouragement and support of fellow musicians, so I wholeheartedly believe in crediting 😎.
Love it 😉
😁
Yummie...i want one :-)
👍👍
More questions I'm afraid, I'm looking at a Blofeld desktop & using the DM12's keybed to run it, can you give me some guidance on what MIDI parameters & connectivity settings are needed to do this? I believe in the Global Settings there's Local On/Off. I think this has to be turned off, I've read the manual but it doesn't give me much info. Don't want to mess up the DM12 through my ignorance. Any help would be great thanks.
Well you won't mess anything up, all settings can be reverted, just keep track of what you change and you can easily go back.
As far as midi control goes it's going to be difficult to do a full rundown here since there's a bunch of ways you can set it up.... Easiest way is just a MIDI cable straight to the Blofeld. That Local setting just turns the keyboard control on or off for the DM. If you keep it on then the Blofeld and the DM will be active simultaneously, if it's off then the Blofeld will be the only thing receiving data. So in this way the DM12 is not a very good master keyboard since it's hard to control both synths at the same time. If you want to control both and play different things on both synths simultaneously then you could either get the Blofeld keyboard version or get an inexpensive small MIDI keyboard to control the Blofeld.
That said if you just want to control one synth at a time then the DM is ok to use to control the Blofeld since that would give you access to the DM transpose and arpeggiator functions. Anyway, there's a lot more info out there on how to setup midi environments and how best to get it working for you. My setup is pretty unique 😎.
@@NeonShores Thanks for the info that's a great help. Much appreciated !
Well, my first day with the DM12 and so far so good but I have a question, Bank A presets, a few sounds play continously, the LFO (1, 2 or both) is on sample and hold, if I go on to another sound then come back it's still playing without any keys pressed not sure if this is right. Can S+H be turned off in the editing? Some can be turned off with the TAP/HOLD button but not all.
So I'm thinking you're referring to a patch along the lines of A-68 Planet Zion. That confused me at first as well since there was no ARP or anything generating sounds.
So it's actually not the S&H doing that, but there's a Mod Matrix destination called VCA-All that's doing this, it allows an LFO to manipulate the entire VCA without input. If you open the Mod Matrix on A-68 you'll see on the 3rd line has LFO-1 as the source and VCA All as destination. That's the source of your sound. If you change the destination to anything but VCA All the sound will stop.
@@NeonShores Thanks for the swift reply greatly appreciated, now that you mention it I seem to remember a demo of someone creating sound and movement in this way, it might not have been the DM 12 but what you say is familiar. Thanks and Keep on Grooving !
Glad I could help!
