I take vitamin D3 with K2 in a coconut oil capsule.
About 7 years ago, I got extremely ill from vitamin D defficiency. I couldn't work, I couldn't sleep, had no energy, no muscle strength, and was like a total zombie. It was horrific! I am so grateful I finally figured it out. Since I have to cover up when in the sun, I pretty much depend upon my supplement intake.

Taking 5,000IU - 10,000IU per day is perfectly safe for an otherwise healthy individual. Vitamin D toxicity is not like toxicity of other fat soluble vitamins. The vitamin D isn't toxic, but in a very small minority of people may cause elevated blood calcium.

Vitamin D deficiency can lead to a range of warning signs and health risks that impact bones, muscles, immunity, and mental health. Early symptoms often include fatigue, muscle weakness, and frequent infections, as vitamin D is critical for immune function. Bone and joint pain are common, with an increased risk of osteoporosis, fractures, and conditions like osteomalacia (bone softening) in severe cases. Deficiency may also affect mood and cognitive health, leading to symptoms such as depression, mood swings, and even cognitive decline over time. At higher risk are those with limited sun exposure, darker skin, older age, or certain health conditions.

A woman can't wear shorts?? Why are you distinguishing between men and women? And you certainly can get UV exposure without being in the middle of the day when the UV rays are worst during the summer no less. With a lower angle of the sun, you actually get more surface area exposure.
