    My original remastered soundtracks for Top Gear 2 (CD32) and Top Gear 3000 are now on Spotify/Apple/Tide and UA-cam.
    More of my soundtracks and new music being added as I finish remastering them.

    For me, the first one is the best, because there's an element strategy in it (refueling), and the music is simply unforgettable.
    QOTD : Super Monaco GP, it made me a motorsport fan ever since.

    I probably have over a thousand hours of Top Gear back in the day. I'm pumped for this release.
    This was a huge title in Brazil.
    Yes the lack of a one player screen definitely should've been implemented but I got used to it and never bothered me after some time. For some reason I just fell in love with this game and the music. It's more of a nostalgia thing. I still have my box and cart

      I suppose it's fitting that this game's publisher (QuByte) is based out of Brazil.

    The BBC owns the Top Gear trade mark so that would explain the name of the collection.

    Back in the day I owned top gear 1 and 2 for the snes! Whats crazy is I usually hated racing games but this series, offroad, mario kart and f zero was about it for me!

    QOTD - I am aware there are probably better games out there but I honestly have the most fun with Top Gear 2. It's fast, great graphics, you can upgrade your cars, pit strategy, and of course - the most epic video game music ever in a racing game.

    I never thought they were that good. Cars felt too wide and the ai was brutal. They felt like budget games back in the day with 3000 especially always in the value bin in mass.

    It's an obvious pick, but I think I have to go with Super Mario Kart as my fave 16-bit racer.
    While most later Mario Kart games seem to build on the previous title, SMK I've always felt has its own flavor and mechanics that make it fun to return to

    I loved the first Top Gear. It is my fav racing game. TG2 is solid but with so many races it does get boring once the car is fully equiped. TG3 was interesting but I didn’t like having shortcuts in the races. I found them hard to pick out at top speed.
    TG has the best soundtrack but in the introduction song of TG2 there was a lyric that said ‘you might be missing sone of the benefits that stereo can provide’. This was funny because I played TG2 on a mono tv and I did miss the benefits. I hope this song is in the Top Racer Collection.

    7:22 "But perceptive players will soon spot that all you're really doing is keeping your thumb on the accelerator while weaving from side to side"
    So, if you pay attention, you will notice you are playing a racing game?

      I feel like that's also an argument you heard from people who didn't understand the appeal of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. "All you're doing is pressing the button when it tells you to." A lot of games can be reduced to a very simple (and unfair) description.

    • @DGFTardin
      @DGFTardin 9 місяців тому

      @@DefunctGames true. Everything can be reduced to "looking at a screen and pressing buttons".

    QOTD: Top Gear for sure. Luckily It was one of the 3 games I owned back in the day. It has some of the best music on the SNES. But I remember muting my tv sometimes & blasting music on my boombox & imagining it was the music playing in the car radio, now I listening to Top Gear music in car 🚙 😅 Top Gear 2 is great too, but it wasn’t easy to find at the video rental. Happy to see Top Gear still alive.

    My favourite 16 bit racing game is Super Monaco GP 2. Road Rash 2 is a close second.

    I got a free copy of the first top gear included with some games i bought in a pack off of goodwill. Ended up enjoying it more than i figured i would. Not surprised the follow up games were critically well received.
    QOTD, Super Mario Kart since it has the racing mode.

    I enjoyed top gear 2 but was disappointed by the lack of variety in cars. I also kinda liked the always splitscreen aspect of top gear 1, it had a sort of charm that other racers didn’t have at the time.

    I remember hearing about Top Gear before, but I think it was mainly while scrolling through the SNES ROMs. Still looks interesting regardless. As for the question, only one I could think I remember playing was Mario Kart, so think I'll have that be my answer.

    Top Gear 1 is definitely the best of the three but Top Gear 2 is clearly the more attractive one due to having a full screen mode and vehicle customization. The only thing I had issue with the games back in the day was the need to refuel while still active during a heated race but I learn to get through that and there's only really a few tracks in the first game that got me trouble with refueling, the rest were no issue. I play better with either the white or the blue car, usually if someone choose the white one then I would grab the blue one instead. The need to fuel made me never wanting to go with the red or purple one and to this day I had never try either one.

    Great games 🎮 back in the day. Unfortunately, they didn't make it a physical release. It's a shame they made that choice. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

    Im going to have to agree with mike i hated the split screen thing the first top gear did it always gave me a headache. In fact even to this day refuse to play any split screen co op game because of the crazy headache split screen gives me . And my favorite 16 bit racer is a Japanese only number by atlus called kat's run: all japan k-car championship. I love the ascetic, music and anime theme. I have no idea what a k car is but by the box art and in game cars they look like grocery getters

    It's hard to believe that Top Gear is back but Ridge Racer still isn't. If told you 20 years ago that Top Gear would return and Ridge Racer would end, most people would have dismissed it as a lie
    Recently, Namco is said to be holding a Ridge Racer event, but there won't be much benefit if the event is held without an announcement of a new game or remake and remaster. Because most people think it's a dead IP.

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames  9 місяців тому +3

      Not just Ridge Racer, but ALL arcade racers. I like racing sims and all, but where did all the arcade-style racers go? It's time for more Ridge Racer, more Burnout, more wipEout, more F-Zero, etc. Hell, I would settle for a Split/Second and Blur sequel at this point.

    por favor confirma se no modo online eles removeram o bug da linha de chegada onde o jogador conseguia ganhar em 1* e 2* lugar ao mesmo tempo, quero muito comprar o jogo mas nenhum criador de conteúdo mostrou isso nas reviews e acredito ser um ponto extremamente importante já que se esse bug não foi removido o modo online fica quebrado e isso é justamente o único ponto que me faz querer comprar o game.

    Top Racer Collection????? Sounds good but come on PlayStation Developers you have to do better than this if I was creating a top racing collection game I would definitely put these games instead of this one: Cruisn Exotica, Cruis'n World Out, Run Online Arcade, OutRun 2 OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 you really need to step up your game collection

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames  Місяць тому

      Those are all great games that definitely need to be in a collection, but that's not what the title means. When Qubyte acquired the rights to the Top Gear games, they were unable to use the name Top Gear (likely due to the television show using that name), so they changed it to Top Racer. This isn't a collection of the best racing games of all time (which would definitely include OutRun and Cruis'n Exotica), but rather a series of games that are now known as Top Racer.
