We’ve all dropped our bikes, mine a 1250GSA. As Sterling did, you take deep breath, assess the options, unload the bike, develop a plan, and execute it. It’s all part of the adventure. Well done Sterling!
I think we are all enjoying the series, good job Sterling! It’s nice to see you didn’t get too angry when you went down. Anyone who thinks they will never tip over are wrong. It is an absolute, we all tip over from time to time, it’s the evolution and growing pains of a motorcycle enthusiast.
@Scott Riverwood .... it is. I’ve been riding for over 40 years. I’ve dropped the bike a time or two (to say the least). In all your years, you’ve never tipped over? That would be hard to believe! When one is learning, they will tip over as they develop their skills and confidence. As time goes on, they will ride in their comfort zone and the evolving skill set will slow down some.
After strapping a camera to my helmet to try and record some riding, I can now truly appreciate the effort it must take to film, edit and produce each of your videos - all informative and thoroughly enjoyable. Hopefully you get enough time to simply realx and enjoy your adventures as well. Keep up the excellent work and thanks for taking us along. All the best from Vashon, Wa.
Enjoying every episode, Sterling! During my next rainy day, I envision binge watching this entire series again and loving every minute of it. As many others have mentioned, the cinematography, drone footage, the unique campsites, and most importantly your perfect pace and soothing delivery of both your message and voice set these videos apart. We all appreciate the selfless effort you’ve provided for our enjoyment.
Great job recovering from that crash. Great scenery footage too. I really enjoy your series. This year I hope to go motorcycle camping myself for the first time with my GS and your video’s are a great help and inspiration. Thanks a lot.
Good to see you got out ok. I've been there myself not able to pick up my Super Tenere with gear on it. I found it helps in situations like you had to drag the bike around on the ground so that it lies across the slope and you are lifting it from the high side...in your case you seem to be lifting somewhat from the lower side which may have added to the difficulty
Exactly this. when you fall on an uphill, drag the bike so that it's perpendicular to the hill by grabbing the uphill tire and pulling it down until it's equal with the other tire. Then lift from the uphill side as Carl mentioned. Then go back down the hill, don't try to go up.
Thanks for the dump! Lol, makes me realize I am not the only one! Saw a car drive past at the end, too bad you didn't put your gear up by the side of the road, maybe they would have stopped to help. Good video.
Thanks for keeping it real Sterling, I had a few chuckles with that one. Glad you weren't hurt, that would have really sucked. I'm thoroughly enjoying each episode.
Agree! He (Sterling) has really done a great job on this series. It is great he covers all aspects of the trip not just the typical eye candy of riding. The camping, cooking and impromptu coverage of the beautiful areas he rides in is amazing and very relevant. Cheers!
We can see edited video's of people riding these big bikes all day long like, as if they were born into it. But we almost never see the reality. Some of us appreciate the honest truth, over the alternative. And to top it off your triumph over it, at the risk of sounding very cliche, is inspiring. Great job😎👍
When you said “everything is on the ground in a big pile of shit and it looks like your having a yard sale on the side of the road” I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life! A two yr old video still bringing joy to people’s lives!!!
I am enjoying this series as well, thanks for sharing your journey with us. I also caught your 10 tips for filming motorcycle adventures again today which is funny as I had watched it before but I guess I wasn't "ready" for the information you shared until today because it "clicked" I was in bisbe almost 1 year to the week ago with Tim Collins I wish we knew ab out your place back then lol. Until the next one, Cheers!
Great clip. Part of the experience. The times my 1190adv decides to take a rest I just step away from it. The hard panniers make it far easier to pick up again. Pushing the rear tire to the ground put the bike in position where most of the work is already done. And strapping soft drybags in front of your panniers (using rear footpegs as support though may slightly impair the benefit) will help protect your legs as well as keep the weight low.
Haha, loved that words tu us. We better enjoy this! And we did 👌. Thanks for not cut away woulnerable, humble and not so hardcore situations that we are over flowed with. Sure you will have lots of comments like throttle and momentum is your friend too ☝️😁👌👌😂. ...and I hear that the music at some videos sounds like Hedlund. I have used his guitar music at my videos as well for some years. Great choise for adventure feeling.
3:43 “Fuck so close!” Best. Line. Of. The. Series! You had me dying in laughter knowing exactly what that moment feels like myself! Thanks for that! Ha ha
Instant subscriber! Only the second of your videos I have seen, but a minute & a half into this one, I had to smash that button. The top notch cinematography and story telling is AMAZING!
Excellent series, I'm really enjoying it. I chose the GIVI Trekker hard cases because they clip on and off of the side frames really easily. So, when you fall off, the pannier/ side case, unclips with a key and you don't have to unload it to lighten the bike to stand it up. Fair play to you picking that bike up on a hillside, that's a feat of endurance all by itself!
I'm a pretty hardcore off-road guy, hard enduro stuff...East coast...on my KTM 300. Been riding 40 years. I also have a 1200 GS and was off roading a little in Utah....it got very slick and out of sorts on me very fast on a similar size hill, one that I would've never thought it would. It happens. The yard sale comment was great!
Love the series….. as a spectator the “mishaps “ make it more real. How did you keep your cool in the face of adversity….I would have been cursing and probably have given up Well done for your perseverance.
I enjoy watching you and keeping it real; I know what it feels like to drop a bike, as I have riding my Harley riding on washboard, loose dirt road. It went down slowly, just like you did. No one hurt, that's good. And yes, I am sincerely enjoying your trip. Thank you. Wish I was there for the "yard sale" ... lol!
This is a fantastic series! I certainly appreciate it. The camera work is amazing, especially for a solo rider. To see how you dealt with a crash like that is very helpful. Always looking forward to the next episode!
⭕️ 4:50 ... yes, i enjoy what you share, but most importantly... i am learning from your trials. The information you are sharing is showing the REAL “struggles” of the journey which is more important to us that are new to the game of off road travels... I’ve been on pavement exclusively with with both cruising and crotch rocket bikes... been on flat ground only for a half hour on a dirt bike ... years ago... and then life got in the way of “living”... so to assure you... yes thank you for sharing. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows... and beautiful scenery... some of us are more interested in the reality of things, to weigh out the pros and cons of the things that actually get us to the most enjoyable moments.
Your videos give the average solo motor cycle traveler just the confidence he/she needs to go on riding. Falling down in remote places seems to be no big deal anymore. Absolute top video!
great video, watched the complete series, If it was me i would drag the bike around and stand it up so you are crossways on the hill. There is a good video on youtube showing that
Challenges are great and so your recent episodes are interesting again! 10 min clip is bonus too. Btw ...I started following your chanel because of it - ride journey filmed with all good and bad stuff. It's life experience knowledge! Good boy.
I have to say, you do an amazing job with your videos and content. I have ridden a lot out there like Beartooth pass, Cody Wyoming, Wind River Canyon, Colorado, Utah, Grand Canyon, from Ohio just for the traveling and riding fun. But what I do is in a motel, restaurants along the way and and it gets pretty costly sometimes and I am totally admiring what you do. Camping all the time cooking your meals, and taking the time to video along the way. I occasionally go pro some of my more enjoyable riding but nothing like what you do. My hats off to you brother. Totally awesome and very enjoyable sharing your experiences from my living room in the winter. I feel like I am right with you. And very glad that when you dropped the bike that you were ok and able to get back on the trails. Keep up the great work and you gained another subscriber!!!
When done buddy. Bike fully loaded and drone and filming at the same time. I appreciate all you do for these films 🎥 you create. We am blessed you are doing this for us. 🤩🎥😎
Sterling, I am loving this Riding Solo series! I laughed out loud at you saying “Everything’s lying on the ground in a big pile of shit. It looks like I’m having a yard sale on the side of the road”. I’m totally going to look for a reason to squeeze that into a conversation soon! Your videos are awesome!
Nice to see even the best tip over now and again, without injury or damage of course. Really enjoying the series and the video, I think, is top notch. Loved your comment about having a garage sale on the side of the road.
Greatly enjoyed your vid always but not watching you suffer. What a great attitude you maintained during the whole time. Tip (on Monday morning QB) spin the bike next time so you have weight going towards downhill when lifting).
I would much rather see the whole reality of your situation than have you edit the mishaps out ! I am glad you keep it real and your pile of S*** yard sale comment cracked me up ! 😂
Great work on getting the bike back up and documenting the process, this has been a fascinating watch, thank you so much for your efforts, your videos are brightening my days of lockdown here in England
Cool video regardless,,,, you know the saying. Sometimes you're the Windshield, sometimes you're the bug !! We've all had days like this. Love the drone shots. I have a couple drones. And I just purchased a 2009 BMW G650GS from my wife's uncle ( I have not owned a bike now for almost 20 years ). Not sure I'll get to do any riding like yourself or drone footage like yours as well. Just subbed your channel. 👍👍
Ok:-) I feel like an idiot! I have been living an hour away from that area for the past 2.5 years & didn’t realize how great that space is for adventure riding:-) sweet drone footage & thanks for chatting your imperfections with us. I really enjoy these videos & your perspective. Peace
Not sure if you had room but if you grab one end of your bike and spin the bike where the wheels are down hill gravity will be on your side. Back saving tip! Cheers!
Great episode. As a filmer I appreciate how much work goes into getting footage like this. Not sure who the miserable individual is who gave it a thumbs down though....
Yup! As far as the individual that gave the video a thumbs down - There is always a sorry bastard out there suffering from sandy vaginitis. Also, love your handle! We all need to have a Man Cave! Cheers!
Been there but in mud. Spent myself trying to right the bike. Small shovel, deadman anchor and a couple of ratchet straps would make a hasty winch to do the work for you. Takes up very little space also.
Hello Sterling! Enjoying your series very much! I have an suggestion, and you probably know about it already, but if not, I have just purchased motobikejack, and its totally cool to pick your bike up, to prevent any back injures. I have super tenere, and that horse is heavy, fell couple times and decided to look for a solution.
Great episode, Sterling, and that was not a crash that was an easy get-off! I think you're drone must have gotten the software update and it was flying in Avoid Owner Embarrassment Mode: " I'll just look away... oh no I can't film that. He still hasn't lifted it yet & I need to rest."

Sterling, you're not only a rider/adventurer, you're a real cinematographer, editor, and great storyteller. Great work!!! Thank you and thank you.
He really does an outstanding job on it all! Very Impressive!
I'd say one drop in 5000 miles is pretty good riding. Don't beat yourself up! I'm enjoying this series a ton.

@@ClinttheGreat Isn't it better to have the side stand down on the opposite side to where you are pushing?
The filming and riding was pretty spectacular. Some of the best filming I've ever seen.
I appreciate you sharing the good and bad in your journey! Awesome stuff!
The footage of the drone following you is just fantastic! Must be great for learning from mistakes, and this would apply to any sport I imagine.

We all fall! Well done. Advice is to spun bike in a better position to pick up. You picked it up against the incline. Much harder. But well done!
Enjoying the vids brother, great work
Got out in the rough more on this episode - the GS feels light until you have to lift it up alone😊. Another great video.

Interesting film, looks like you had one eye on the drone when you dropped the bike. Happens, well done on the recovery.
