Tom and Melissa, I made these cinnamon rolls this afternoon, from start to finish including the two rises it took about 3 hours but it was worth it! The recipe is very easy to prepare. I did notice when I watched the video again while they were baking that Tom added 1-tsp of vanilla to the icing, but that ingredient was not included in the icing recipe. Making the 12 rolls I only needed a 1/2 cup of the heavy cream. To those who may think that adding the cream would make the rolls soggy which was my concern, the rolls came out fluffy and moist and were not soggy at all. The bread flour does make all the difference in the world. This is now my go to recipe for cinnamon rolls. I also added lots of cinnamon. Thank you so much!!

I was in Nashville, Indiana in about 1991 or 92, We were going to Chicago to visit relatives. We just loved this little town and its shops! We didn’t have these cinnamon rolls, but I didn’t know about them at the time. Nashville is on my bucket list to visit again , and now these Ooey Goey Cinnamon Rolls are, too!

Our daughter is a baker and always makes her cinnamon rolls whenever we all get together. It's become a traditional occurrence that we would not let her out of. Thank goodness she loves making them for us. She always brings them unbaked and the first morning we wake up together, we put them in the oven and the smell is fabulous. What a great memory for everyone to hold on to for years to come.

At my High School I would get there early cause they would always have freshly made Cinnamon Rolls. Those were awesome. I loved them. I had an early bird class every day. So getting there 15 minutes early wasn't a big deal. I went to Thunderbird High School class of 79 in Phoenix, Arizona. Best year of my school life. 🙂🦋

If you use a deep 9x13 pan to do the 1st rise, it REALLY makes it easy to roll out a rectangle!

Yes, Melissa! We had cinnamon rolls on chili day. It was a bowl of chili, a piece of cheese toast, celery and carrot sticks, milk, and a cinnamon roll! Tom, I, too, remember the lunch ladies fondly. When you walked in and smelled yeast rolls, you knew it was going to be a good day. 😊 By the way, my school days were 1966 - 1978. Yes, I'm old. The elementary school was Somerville Road Elementary, the middle school was Oak Park middle school and the high school was Decatur High school in Decatur, Alabama. You two would be proud I've been very conscientious while writing this, I knew I'd be graded. 😂

My career was in school food service, the bulk of my time was managing an elementary school. For 2 years I did bread making classes; one class a week after my work day ended. I had one class a week come into the kitchen, students washed hands and put on hairnets. I started with a display of various wheat berries, then demonstrated how to mill those berries into flour. Students saw the yeast bloom then helped to measure and mix the dough. I had a batch of dough ready that I’d made earlier in the day which I used to show them how versatile the dough was by making cinnamon rolls. The rolls were refrigerated over night and the following morning that class had lovely warm rolls waiting in their classroom for them when they arrived . I used the dough the children helped make for dinner rolls, that they were served when they came for lunch. Tom, I’m so sorry you never had cinnamon rolls as a student. I’m going to try your recipe next week when we have all of our children here for Thanksgiving.

When I was much younger, I used to make cinnamon rolls for my colleagues at work. I would make them the night before, but I'd pop the pan in the refrigerator to complete the 2nd rise overnight. I also made the icing the night before and stored it in the refrigerator in a large ziplock bag. I'd wake up, pull them from the refrigerator, and bake them. I'd transport them uncovered while still screaming hot from the oven. Once I got to work, I'd cut the corner of the bag and squeeze the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls. They were never any leftovers!

I love watching, listening to, and learning from your process each time. When you were pouring the cream over the rolls before placing them in the oven, I kept urging you to go ahead and use it all. I think I could have eaten them without the frosting, but I do love cream cheese frosting on a cinnamon roll. As a fellow educator, I love hearing your stories. School cinnamon rolls were a big hit in my high school, and also at the school where I taught (I'm part of the education staff in a female correctional facility now). Like you, I made friends with the cafeteria staff, usually during lunch duty time, and it's amazing the extra things that come your way when you get to know those great ladies. Truly appreciate today's video.

My husband’s mother was a great cook! She made the yeast rolls and I wanted to please my hubby! So… I learned to make them but my mother in law never made cinnamon rolls. I always take her roll recipe and made the cinnamon rolls. We have been married 55 years this October and my husband loves loves yeast rolls… the lighter the better and he said he has even sneaked the raw dough and eaten it!!! But I say yuck on that one!!! 😳 I enjoy watching you all and often think… my how wonderful it should be for your wife to have your help in the kitchen!! I love and enjoy cooking but it would be nice from time to time to just sit back and let someone else do the cooking!! Keep up the good work and may you be blessed with many more years of cooking!

I learned how to make it at a gas station/ Cafe up here in Alaska.. but 1 thing different I did was .. butter bottom of pan and add brown sugar on the bottom then put my rolls on top..bake as you would as you recommended. The goodies part is the extra butter and brown sugar 😊

When I make my Cinnamon Rolls I really go heavy with the good stuff that you roll up and then after they have baked I will flip the pan on parchment paper and let all that gooey fall down the sides. Then after they have cooled a little I will put frosting on them.
My Brothers love my Cinnamon Rolls and would do anything to have me bake them some. My oldest Brother would alway want me to take a picture of the rolls while they were rising not realizing what he was doing was counting how many I had made so when i delivered them and the count wasn’t the same he would ask, what happen to the others!! 😮

I’ve never let my mixer kneed the dough because I always thought it would work it too much. I’ve got to give that mixer a try. To raise the dough many years ago at a kitchen shop I bought a bowl called a bread raising bowl made in Sweden. This bowl was Fantastic. Dough rises in less then half the time. I’d give anything to find this bowl again. I did go back and pick up a few more because I make bread all the time. It was called a Bocha bowl. Or Bocka bowl.
Hammarplast made in Sweden is on the bottom of this bowl and it has a plastic sort of inverted lid that covers it.

My father used to use the same “elephant analogy” and he was the most brilliant person I ever knew 🤣. Just the thought of eating elephant was so unappealing. I’ve never made cinnamon rolls from scratch, but it sounds like something good to try on a cold morning this winter. As always, thank you for sharing your recipes and knowledge with us

The second way you did the cinnamon rolls is exactly how my grandmother , father and I make them. When you mixed up that tiny mixture I was thinking, this is not going to be nearly enough. I’m going to have to make some now! Great video!

Hello Tom and Melissa! Your cinnamon roll recipe is close to what I make. Brown county Indiana is where we went a lot when we lived in Indiana. Born raised in Franklin County Indiana. About a hour and half from Brown County. We always went to the Bill Monroe camp ground when the Bluegrass festival was going on .

Thank you Tom and Melissa for sharing my recipe. I am glad you loved them. I've added the chocolate chips before also. They are awesome. I get more bc I use the smaller scoop. I told my husband you shared my recipe online and he wanted to know where his cookies were. Lol
    God Bless Y'all.

I live in Indiana,a small town called Loogootee and my mom and step dad got married in a cabin in brown county in the park and we all stayed the night there and we usually go to the little nasville opry for concerts but i love cinnamon rolls and have tryed many recipes as well as your lemon rolls that were excellent and soft but when it comes to the easiest and flavorful i now use Rachel cooks with love recipe because it is so much easier and i as well put heavy whipping cream around them and they turn out very good ,you should watch her recipe sometime and see how easy it is.Love watching your videos !

I am from northern Minnesota but have family in southern Indiana. I’ve visited Nashville several times. Cute little town. In Minnesota, Toby’s restaurant in Hinckley right on I35 serves delicious caramel rolls. They are known for their baked goods. I’ve never had their cinnamon rolls, but I do know they have the traditional powdered sugar glaze.
