The molasses is a great idea. I'll be trying that very soon. Your pie already looks top notch but you might try adding an egg yolk to the 2 eggs. You won't believe how creamy it makes it.😊
We have a traditional pumpkin pie recipe that we use every year. It was handed down from the family to the family. Never, under any circumstance, would we add cloves. However, I do want to try this same recipe with either molasses or brown sugar. We have our family pie crust that has also been handed down. You keep talking about this Pillsbury pie crust. You know what, I'm going to try it. If you say it's good, I'm sure it's good. The easier the better!
I've made this 2 times. It's now my go to recipe. Love, love this. I gave a pie to my sister inlaw and had to give her another one. Thanks so very much. More recipes to make. You make it so very easy to do. Your directions are so thorough. Again thanks and can't wait for more.
I just shared this with my daughter. I told my hubby that I could almost smell it -- the cloves and molasses smell wonderful! I am with Melissa on this though -- I like a little bit of pie with my whipped cream! Thank you for all the great recipes.
Wow! IT will be my FIRST homemade Pumpkin Pie, but I am excited to TRY IT. Since Pumpkin is one of my Favourite Vegetables. I cannot wait to make this PIE. Blessings. Leila and Ronald. OZ.
I’ve been using the recipe that’s on the back of the pumpkin can. But tomorrow I’m making your recipe! It sounds like it will be so much better! I can’t wait to make it…and eat it of course! And I make my own whipping cream with the heavy whipping cream and I put brown sugar instead of white…so much better than Cool Whip or Reddy whip! Thank you so much! I really enjoy your cooking videos and already used several of them!
I love your videos! I've already made your lasagna, fish tacos, and coleslaw. I'm making this for Thanksgiving 2023. You explain everything so thoroughly! Thank you!
Ms. Melissa, my Mamaw would scatter a handful of dark chocolate chips on top of the pie fresh from the oven and let it sit for 2 minutes. Then she'd spread them with her offset spatula over the surface and pop the thing in the fridge. That is a WONDERFUL flavor combination (plus it blows your guests away) and might help you to enjoy a sliver of pumpkin pie!
Your Mamaw was a genius! Chocolate improves everything. But I will say that this pumpkin pie, with lots of whipped cream, was fabulous! We really appreciate that you've watched our video. Thank you so much.
Pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread for our Thanksgiving...October 14 here in Canada. I’m enjoying binge watching all the pumpkin recipes. I hope you have an apple crumble on your channel
I enjoy your cooking videos because you are very precise in your directions and measurements. You also are very good at giving options to your recipes.👍👏😊
35 years ago, I bought my last can of pumpkin. I measured out how much the can held and placed it in my cookbook. That cookbook is in a bin somewhere between 3 rooms. I'm not about to go looking for it. LOL. Thank you for having this video. I have 5 jars of molasses and my yams are now cooled enough for me to start baking. Those folded pie crusts are very good, and I have used them many times.
I'm moving around your channel and watching cool videos that you and Melissa have made. I have a batch of your corn pudding recipe in the over. I'm on the last minutes. My house smells so good! I'm in Tucson, AZ. It's a beautiful day here! Happy Thanksgiving and God bless you and yours.
I am making your pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. I just made it in the oven. I love how you describe the ingredients, and how to do everything. Thank you!
I enjoy your channel so very much and your teamwork as husband and wife. I love Tom’s teacher “voice” as he explains in detail the sequence of events in the recipe. I do love the details. I’ll have to try this recipe. 👍😃 I’m kind of new to the channel. Lately I’ve been binge watching all the recipes/episodes. ☺️
2024 and I am making your pumpkin pie for thanksgiving. I just ordered your cookbook as a gift for my granddaughter. I know she will love it. I will tell her to watch your video as she follows the recipe in the cookbook.
I’m going to use this recipe instead of the one on the can! Sounds yummy! And just a suggestion…instead of the can whipping cream I make my own. I beat heavy whipping cream with some brown sugar instead of white sugar. It really does enhance the taste of the pumpkin pie. Try it sometime. 😊
I just cooked to pie pumpkins yesterday. Make enough 2 pies with 6 Oz of puree. I enjoyed making my puree . Cooked in my instant pot with a cup of water. Took out and no wasting the flesh. It was so easy. The inside you took out the seeds then I twirled the strings like spaghetti. Smashed till smooth then put into the strainer to get liquid out. Very little mess. Love pumpkin pie.
I am going to try this with the molasis and cloves. I love your videos. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I love watching especially on Sunday afternoons. It's one of my favorite ways to relax and think about the recipes I want to try. Also I think it is awesome that you and Melissa team up on making your videos.
Your kind words means so much to us! Thank you very much for being at thetable with us. We sure do appreciate your comments and we hope you enjoy this pie.
We made the pumpkin pie last night and had it for breakfast this morning. Oh, my so yummy, but my crust underneath was under cooked. I know what I did wrong from talking with my sister. I just ate the yummy filling!! No more store bought pie! Thank you for a great and easy to do pie! God Bless.
Molasses is a must! My fave pie! My great grandmother taught me to add it. 3 T when making a 2 pie recipe. The cloves are also great! She always sprinkled it on top of the pie before baking. I do too.
Im from Canada 🇨🇦 nd our Thanksgiving is in 1 month...I have all my fixings for 2 pumpkin pies...We'll eat 1, the other will go in the freezer to eat another time...Pumpkin is and has always been my favourite and I like it cold with a bit of whipped cream...I always look forward to them.
I enjoy the rapport that you and your wife have, reminds me of myself and my husband. Been together 36 years. Love your ❤RECIPES 😊😊 Actually is very easy roasting your own Pumpkin, not messy at all.😊 The Pumpkin looks Absolutely Decadent, Beautiful!!
It's almost the end of April as I watch so many of your videos on Thanksgiving. I'm ready for Thanksgiving to get here. Love it. Keep up the good work. Love your videos. My best to you and Melissa
I am one of those people who will bake my own homegrown pumpkin to use for pies, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin bread and cookies. I don't care for canned pumpkin because I use a special pumpkin called a Seminole pumpkin that dates back to the Seminole Indians and probably hundreds of years before settlers found them growing up trees in Florida. It is a long storing pumpkin that seldom gets over 5 lbs. and the flavor is amazing.
I listened to this even though I saw the Libby's Pumpkin. I watched until the molasses. Oops! I have used the Libby's recipe (original) for over 35 years, and I am not changing now. Variety is the spice of life, but some things I don't budge on. PS I am older than you. I love your videos, and how you explain everything so clearly and completely. I have about 7 of your recipes that I want to try. And I am sure there are plenty more that I haven't seen yet that I will want to try.
We totally understand that when you have something that works and that you love, you don't change it! We appreciate that you are trying several of our recipes and that you've joined us at the table. Have a wonderful Christmas holiday!
My grandmother would heat molasses in a sauce pan then put a good pinch of baking soda in the molasses causing them to foam up. She would pour this over buttered biscuits. Delicious
Perusing your videos and found this! Pumpkin pie is my all-time favorite. Now, the only thing that ruins it for me is not having the filling firm after it bakes. I don't like it when it's too soft. Is that why two eggs are used or is that the standard way? It looked very firm so I'll try this recipe soon!
I am commenting before watching the video. What is your whip cream two pi ratio? Gotta be at least 50-50 but preferably more in favor of the whipped cream Pumpkin pie is so good Update 1: Melissa gets it for the whipped cream to pie ratio Update 2: my family actually usually does have molasses because my dad makes molasses cookies
Just an fyi! Libbys recipe on the can of pumpkin always calls for cloves. I have made that recipe for years and love it but would be fun to try this one with molasses in it, my husband loves molasses.. Looks delicious! Pumpkin pie is my favorite!!
We’re lucky here in Canada we have Tenderflake brand pie shells and deep dish pie shells. The pie shells are their never fail pie crust recipe on the lard box. For a long time after she retired my mother and my father canned pumpkin. My dad didn’t like to wait until thanksgiving for a pumpkin pie.
I understand. It's sad to have something so wonderful only one time of the year. We believe the entire fall season is a great time for this beauty! Thanks so much for sharing your story about your family.
The pumpkin pie I make is easy also. I do the crust the same as you, but my filling is just a little easier. I use one can of sweetened condensed milk, one can of libbys pumpkin, dash. Salt, and 2eggs, 2tsp of pumpkin pie spices. I bake it the same way as you did. When you use sweetened condensed milk no need for sugar. It is one of the easiest recipes to make and it's good.
I make sweet potatoe pies. Maybe Melissa would like that better. Its a little sweeter and so delicious. But i have two sons who absolutely have to have pumpkin pie. So i always make one for them. Whats nice about the sweet potatoe pie is you use fresh sweet potatoes. Not from a can. It makes a huge difference.😊😊
I always make a homemade pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving…..I have never put the molasses or cloves in it BUT I will definitely put them in this year!!!!! That pie looks SOOOOO YUMMY!!!! Thank you Tom & Melissa!!!!! Blessings from WV 💙💛
Hope you enjoy it like this. We think it has a wonderful flavor. We really appreciate that you are watching our channel. Happy Thanksgiving. I know it's early but it will be here before we know it.
I made this pie today and thank you for such an easy recipe with lots of great instructions. I baked it & fell like I took it out as soon as it quit jiggling but when it cooled at room temperature it split in center. Did I bake too long-not long enough?Thank you. Sadly I’m like Melissa-love the smell but don’t want to eat it but many family members love it!
There are some differences between your recipe and mine. I don't put Allspice and molasses in mine and use only one egg. I use cinnamon, ginger, cloves and sometimes nutmeg. Also my mom taught me to heat up the pumpkin mixture until it starts to bubble, then put it into the pie shell and bake for 55 to 60 minutes at 350°.
Hi Tom/Chris and Melissa, this looks delicious.. I keep Ma Lass Us in my pantry but let me tell you, don’t ever let the glass jar slip through your hand and hit the slab floor.. A mess is an understatement..Sticky ooie gooie mess…I use Ma Lass Us in several recipes and love the added taste..Now I will make this pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and feel like I have the two of you sitting at my table .. Don’t Forget to “ Put A lid On It “.
Oh my I can imagine what a mess that would make! Sticky for sure! Thank you so much for watching our channel. We appreciate that we are at your table, too!
I must tell you that this is the best pumpkin pie I’ve ever had! But I really love the whipped cream, too!
I love punkin(thats what my grampy always called it)pie…
Excellent video! I'm with Melissa! No pumpkin pie here!
Adding an eighth tsp of white pepper enhances the flavors ❤
The molasses is a great idea. I'll be trying that very soon.
Your pie already looks top notch but you might try adding an egg yolk to the 2 eggs. You won't believe how creamy it makes it.😊

I am enjoying your recipes so much.
I agree! Pillsbury pie crusts are exceptional!
I just shared this with my daughter. I told my hubby that I could almost smell it -- the cloves and molasses smell wonderful! I am with Melissa on this though -- I like a little bit of pie with my whipped cream! Thank you for all the great recipes.
I’m in on that ! 😊
I love your Cook Book I'm making lots of memories my family loves 🎉Happy holidays ❤
I love the pumpkin pie from Costco. It is so creamy. Yours also looks delicious.
My husband isn’t a fan of pumpkin pie either, I love it, we both love Sweet Potato pie!
Wow! IT will be my FIRST homemade Pumpkin Pie, but I am excited to TRY IT. Since Pumpkin is one of my Favourite Vegetables. I cannot wait to make this PIE. Blessings. Leila and Ronald. OZ.
Nana taught me to stick a table knife in the center; if it comes out clean, it is done. Can't wait to try this recipe❣️❣️

Thank you for inviting me to your table ! I love your videos, they go beyond cooking ,you make your viewers feel confident thank you

My favorite pie!!
I like it nice & spicy. Molasses sounds so good in it!!!!

Pumpkin pie definitely isn't one of my most preferred pies, but it's tasty to have on relevant holidays.
Saving this!
I ❤️ Molasses, my family not so much. I could eat pumpkin pie year round.
Thank you so much for watching our video. We really appreciate it.
I also really enjoy the molasses.💖

Yes Yes Yes! Delicious ! I eat pumpkin pie anytime. 👍🦃
It's almost the end of April as I watch so many of your videos on Thanksgiving. I'm ready for Thanksgiving to get here. Love it. Keep up the good work. Love your videos. My best to you and Melissa
I like it warm with nothing on it❤
Hello Tom and Melissa! I made this pumpkin pie today and it is delicious. Thanks for sharing Chef!
I have always used molasses in my pumpkin pie. Also use brown sugar instead of white. Makes a very rich pie.
I love pumpkin pie, I'm going to make your recipe, I usually buy pumpkin pie. And I love the smell it makes in my house
I like to add a scant 1/4 of teaspoon of mace instead of the cloves. I really like the addition of the molasses, too.
Another yummy recipie. Made two today👍👍. Thank you
I have made pumpkin pie from the can. But I have learned how to make one from fresh/real pumpkin.
Your pumpkin pie looks delicious
I listened to this even though I saw the Libby's Pumpkin. I watched until the molasses. Oops! I have used the Libby's recipe (original) for over 35 years, and I am not changing now. Brer Rabbit brand molasses. I love using the prepared pie crust from Pilsbury!
Thanks for the tip!
My grandmother would heat molasses in a sauce pan then put a good pinch of baking soda in the molasses causing them to foam up. She would pour this over buttered biscuits. Delicious
I enjoy your channel so much.
I love love love pumpkin of anykind
I use 2 cup pumpkin I grow and squeeze the strings and excess water out. The best😊
Pretty Pie
I always use a cookie sheet under anything that might spill over while baking. Sure saves cleaning up the oven.
Golly, that looks so good.😊
We think it is a great pie. Hope you can enjoy it soon!
You two are just sooo precious!
You are a wonderful cook.
You should write a cookbook!!❤
Mmmm…molasses! Goes great in ginger snaps too! (Especially the dark molasses.)
I love sweet potatoes pie from the south
That's a classic, too! Thank you for watching our channel. Happy Easter.
I would love to “come sit at your table” in Kentucky but I live a long way from you in BC, Canada.
We would love to have you! Thank you so much for watching.
I never thought about molasses in pumpkin pie. That would be so good.
I am commenting before watching the video. What is your whip cream two pi ratio? Gotta be at least 50-50 but preferably more in favor of the whipped cream
Pumpkin pie is so good
Update 1: Melissa gets it for the whipped cream to pie ratio
Update 2: my family actually usually does have molasses because my dad makes molasses cookies
Love PUMPKIN PIE AND I AGREE HOW YOU SERVE IT°! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS❤

I’m making a cherry pie for our Easter dessert…just the hubby and I
I made this pie today and thank you for such an easy recipe with lots of great instructions. I baked it & fell like I took it out as soon as it quit jiggling but when it cooled at room temperature it split in center. Did I bake too long-not long enough?Thank you. Yes like chocolate pie 😋
I use this exact recipe. Love it. My hubby not a fan either.
I am definitely a pumpkin fan. Thank you Tom.💖 Sad you don't like pumpkin pie Melissa. Have you ever tried it? Without the reddi whip or cool whip?
You can make a Shoofly pie with the molasses. Love the wet bottom .
That pie crush cover. Mine will come apart in the design.
I just found you on here last week - loving your videos !! Love molasses also ! sooo good on warm fresh baked bread !
Yes, we agree! Thank you for joining us at the table. We really appreciate it.
Found it! Thanks...
Just watching video. I agree with Melissa. Give me a sweet potato pie instead. My kids however like pumpkin pie with whipped cream 😊
Can you do a sweet potato like the pumpkin? Looks delicious. Thank you
Yum!
