Las Vegas is not Disneyland or Disney World, but the cost of a 5 day vacation is about the same assuming you don't gamble. If you just relax at the big resorts and avoid walking on the strip, you can have a nice vacation without getting swindled.
I used to think that too, until I visited a couple years ago because of how many awesome nature day trips you can take driving out from Las Vegas. I didn’t gamble or do any typical tourist things besides walk around and go to the Bellagio conservatory, but I would have if I’d had more time. I kept saying over and over how surprised I was at how much I liked just walking around on the Strip.
You're videos on how to handle yourself on the strip helped me so much. I don't think I would of fallen for the scams but just watching the videos gave me the confidence boost I need to go out, be safe and have fun. Out here in L.A. I see the same guys on the street corners with signs holding up a picture of a "family" member who died and they want money for the funeral. The problem is, they are there like every weekend and it appears to be the same picture of the same "family" each time. Either the guy died came back to life and then died again or this is a scam. How many funerals can one person have?
A few days ago a 55+ guy fumbling with his backpack ,wearing a mask got on the elevator with us and another couple . A room key is required to select a floor. We each selected a floor but he did NOT select a floor. He got off on our floor and asked "where are you from? " He said we looked like "normal" people , said he was from a city close to us. He walked past us and when opened our door he turned and walked back to us and said he was a mortgage broker , had an MBA bla, bla, bla... I felt the red flag. Then told us that he needed to get to airport and had left his wallet in a cab. Said the hotel does not provide this service and since his friend reserved the room he was not listed as a guest . Said he called the police but they would not give him a ride bla, bla, bla. He needed money for cab fare and he would pay us back 2X .I ended the conversation and we went into our room. This guy had targeted us as we were of the same age and he followed us on a "secure" elevator! Felt vulnerable as we had opened our door. Nothing bad happened to us but just be aware of this. Wife called hotel security with the details . Said they would take care of it.
That would make me very mad, because my husband has a short temper and would end up fighting the guy while screaming at me to call hotel security. My husband would put that guy in the hospital, my husband would be in jail, and my vacation would be ruined. Ever see the Better Call Saul scene where Mike holds on to Tuco until the cops arrive. My husband does that stuff, just latches on to a perp and hangs on for dear life. He's going to get killed doing that some day.
I remember when The Grand in Tunica, MS was booming. Every trip there some 'Sweet' Little Old Lady would sit next to me and ask if she could put her Players Card in my machine...so she could get points for free stuff. What I saw one night was this scam and the guy hit a small jackpot with that 'sweet' old lady's card in his machine.
People who keep saying, isn't an Uber or Lyft cheaper than a cab. You people seem to forget that not everyone who goes to Vegas is from the US. Tourists from different countries don't have constant access to the internet. So, sometimes your only option is a cab. Even if you know that an Uber or Lyft is cheaper.

My sister and I always use our “ casino purses” . We both have several but they go over neck and shoulder and that way we aren’t caring a purse to accidentally get left behind or rifled through. And on that subject there has been times where I’m playing and someone comes up and says something and I get a hit and that person is waiting for me to share some of the winnings saying they brought me good luck. In all actuality that person was watching me play and it was the right moment the machine was gonna pay. So it’s sad I can’t just be left alone. Always con artists watching!

I had a few drinks and some kid came up to me in Fremont and handed me a CD and wanted a donation and i said “I’m from NYC we do this out there” and he nervously took the cd back lol
At a strip club, a scam I was told about from a dancer working there was with "bottle service" to the patrons for serving wine at a table in the strip club. The club will take a $200 bottle of wine and charge the table $1,500 for "bottle service."
Thing about "3 Card Monte" or "The Cup and Ball" Games, even if you know the game is rigged and know how to beat it, after you "win," a couple people from the crew will follow you and rob you.
As a cab driver I often asked "Shortest or fastest?" if controlled access highway was an option. Fastest on highways was usually longer. Time is money. People will often pay the premium to arrive sooner. Google maps has similar functions for this question. Passengers can pre load routes and do rate based price comparisons. The walking or cycling route might not be passable by car, but is often shortest.
as an avid walker, I wonder why on earth there is no pedestrian walkway between the airport and the Strip since it's only 3 miles away... By the way, I walk around 5-10 miles daily.
Great advice! I'm coming to Vegas from Dallas in 2 weeks. One thing I've been worried about was scammers. Last time I was there it was bad. Plus all the time share sales people.
Hey,Jacob. You forgot to mention the Buddhist bracelet scam. The one they tell you it's a "free bracelet"(they actually put it on your wrist)then tell you to give a $10 donation for a 50 cent trinket. NOPE! Take it back! Hahaha!
Thanks for the vid Jacob ! We got scammed (long rided ) by a cabbie when we were LV newbies. The wifie was so pissed she got into an arguement with him. Also congrats on 100KKK !!!!
I saw someone get purse snatched at Aria when they first opened! Wearing a small cross body bag that you never put down is best when traveling. This also helps you to avoid putting your cellphone down by mistake and forgetting it or taking out a wallet and getting that snatched. The cross body is best if it zips closed and has a little organization inside like a wallet and closes around where the cell would be placed as well. I also like to have room for a back up battery and cable inside so I never have to go back to charge my cell. The last time I was in the casino the smoking was so bad because they were selling a lot of cigars at the resort. I don’t understand how they can have all these young fertile aged women working in that environment when they could be pregnant before knowing it for weeks if not months if they are not self aware. Why can’t these people smoke outside somehwere on these massive properties? I just hate it!
The new one is a guy comes up to you to ask if you need anything at the Walgreens on the strip and he will go in and “steal” it for you for half the price. There is zero theft protection going on in that location. He goes in and takes 3-4 of them, walks out and tries to get you to give him double or triple for the extra items. He scams you and the store lol…..
Dude after watching your old videos and your videos now you put in some good work at slimming down Can you do a video on your favorite Vegas workout spots and healthy places to eat
Another one is people are so attracted to play the slots that are name brand like "Breaking bad" "Sex and the city" etc...those slots have the worst odds because they have to pay royalties to the rights owners of the shows.
The first thing locals learn here is to “lose” their hearing. Do not let strangers engage you. 99% of the people who say “excuse me, sir or ma’am.…they want money. Forget about the sob stories. They are lying. Just keep walking.
it definitely is a good idea to become more streetwise when going to vegas. Carrying a heavy amount of skepticism is a good idea when talking to strangers.
Ladies, wear a crossbody bag, don't take it off, and keep your hand on the handle if it has one in addition to the strap. Annnd don't keep all your cash in one place. 😉
Yesssss lol. I just left Vegas last week and the dude was like oh there's a wreck on the highway and he took this SUPER long back road route. Ride came out to $30
Funny about the Basketball kids selling candy scam. They we're all up in Ceasars Palace when I was there a few weeks ago. Kept getting stop by them every couple minutes. I'm thinking something unusual for that many kids asking for donations in the same area.
The scam I hate the most, and I haven't seen this one in awhile for obvious reasons, is the aspiring RAP artist trying to sell personalized demo tapes. They talk a strong game and guilt you into buying a CD once they write your name on the disk. The danger here is that you are distracted by the kid talking to you while there are 8+ others around trying to do the same thing making you a robbery target all for a burned CD you can make at home. On the positive, nobody buys CDs anymore AND, the disks actually had original music on them, it wasn't any good but, at least they put something on the disk.
Thank you for a great and informative video. When you go from the airport to your hotel, long hauling is not an issue, as there are pre-set zones and they can't over charge you. It's some extra walking but the monorail can get you fairly close to anyplace on the strip, I don't see the need to take a taxi at all except to and from the airport. I have found Lyft and Uber is a lot more expensive these days, and usually the rideshare pickup and drop off is at the back end of the hotel, never up front. So if I do need a ride, I like taxis better as they bring you to the front of the hotel.

At a strip club, a scam I was told about from a dancer working there was with "bottle service" to the patrons for serving wine at a table in the strip club. The club will take a $200 bottle of wine and charge the table $1,500 for "bottle service."
It’s probably a 10 dollar bottle of wine they buy at Walmart.
Good information. I've had one uber lady who was nice and took me directly there on the shortest route. Before I had no idea. Ty for sharing 💓
De nada Belinda 🙂
Thing about "3 Card Monte" or "The Cup and Ball" Games, even if you know the game is rigged and know how to beat it, after you "win," a couple people from the crew will follow you and rob you.
Hello Jacob Thank you for sharing your videos ❤️
You're welcome Kathleen 😊
Great work on this one Jacob. Looking forward to my mid June visit.
Thank you Drew! Have fun!
To avoid the taxi scam - take Uber or Lyft
oh, they use demand pricing there and a simple ride could cost you $50 or more nearly anytime you want to go anywhere.
as an avid walker, I wonder why on earth there is no pedestrian walkway between the airport and the Strip since it's only 3 miles away... By the way, I walk around 5-10 miles daily.
@@youngsixty7395 You raised a seemingly reasonable and legitimate issue.
Not having a pedestrian walkway to the Strip itself is one more scam in Sin City.
@@youngsixty7395 you really had to add the “i walk 5-10 miles daily”.
Great advice! I'm coming to Vegas from Dallas in 2 weeks. One thing I've been worried about was scammers. Last time I was there it was bad. Plus all the time share sales people.
the restaurants there are the worst scammers. save your money and go somewhere else. the place was fun in the 80's and 90s now it is a disaster.
Hey,Jacob. You forgot to mention the Buddhist bracelet scam. The one they tell you it's a "free bracelet"(they actually put it on your wrist)then tell you to give a $10 donation for a 50 cent trinket. NOPE! Take it back! Hahaha!
Yep! I've ran into them on Fremont Street before
Thanks for the vid Jacob ! We got scammed (long rided ) by a cabbie when we were LV newbies. The wifie was so pissed she got into an arguement with him. Also congrats on 100KKK !!!!
Sorry to hear it Winston, but glad your guys have learned a lot since then. Thanks for the congrats 👏
I realized the athletic donations one was a scam when I got asked so much to donate I thought “does every child out here play basketball?!”
LOL
Yep... got that one in front of Caesars as I was walking in. Just said I don't have money on me yet and kept walking.
Thanks for sharing these tips! 👍
Great advice Jacob!
Thank you Victor!
Definitely easy to get scammed if you’re not savvy to what goes on in Vegas. Great info! -S
Thanks for all your amazing videos
You're welcome Shawn!
Congrats on the 100k!
Thanks Wardi!
Aren't cab
companies offering flat rates from airport to strip/downtown now to prevent long hauling?
Just to strip area
😂 I get the basketball team one all the time at grocery store here, haven’t seen the 3 card monte in a bit but haven’t been down on strip for a bit
I’m surprised how many young woman carry their phone in their back pockets . If seem every generation has their vulnerability to thief’s.
man that strip bg was supercool. thnx for sharing. Greetings from Hermosillo MX
Long hualing is definitely a big problem.. skip the Taxi and take an Uber... Or try the buses...
Loving these informative safety vlogs you've been doing. Great job. I'll be pointing Pompsters your way to check these vlogs out!
Glad you enjoy them Shonta!
Dude after watching your old videos and your videos now you put in some good work at slimming down
Can you do a video on your favorite Vegas workout spots and healthy places to eat
Scam #1 and #2 are true but the other 3 I hardly or don't hear about. Scam #2 should be on top of the list .
Congratulations on 100K subs!
Thank you APC!
Love your videos. The last time I was in Vegas last summer, rides to the Strip from the airport was zone fairs. Did something change?
Thanks Jay. That's only for the strip area. People can still get long-hauled traveling to other parts of town
New editing is awesome 👍
Thank you! More to come!
Another one is people are so attracted to play the slots that are name brand like "Breaking bad" "Sex and the city" etc...those slots have the worst odds because they have to pay royalties to the rights owners of the shows.
Thanks for your awesome content!!
De nada!
I love how in the last one, he sounds more amused than actually mad because it was just a teenager being generally teenagerly stupid lol
Good job Jacob! Thank you! 🙏
Very good information!!! Thx
You're welcome Donna!
Thank You for all of your videos that you did.
You're welcome Kevin!
Thx you very much for the heads up
Ladies, wear a crossbody bag, don't take it off, and keep your hand on the handle if it has one in addition to the strap. Annnd don't keep all your cash in one place. 😉
Thank you. I will go camping in the mountains.
Yesssss lol. I just left Vegas last week and the dude was like oh there's a wreck on the highway and he took this SUPER long back road route. Ride came out to $30
Sounds like he might have been long hauling.
@@JacobslifeinVegas all in all I sorta expect Taxi cab drivers to smudge a little bit it was not extraneous since going from downtown to the airport
Funny about the Basketball kids selling candy scam. They we're all up in Ceasars Palace when I was there a few weeks ago.
Kept getting stop by them every couple minutes. I'm thinking something unusual for that many kids asking for donations in the same area.
Yeah! We have got 100 K. Waiting to see the video of unpacking your silver trophy. Cheers from Brasil!
Obrigado Marcel!
Resort fees should be included in the ticket price. So people know exactly how much they are paying. Total rip off.
Thank you for this informative video.
De nada Reggie!
❤ Thank you Jacob 😊 great tiips😊
You're so welcome Karen!
The only teenage scam I'd be interested in is a high school cheerleader offering tours of her fun house for donations to her "college" fund 🤣🤣🤣
Congratulations on 100K subscribers.
Thank you so much Nando 😀
great advice!
My favorite spot the Mirage.! Nice video.
Thank you!
Excellent, educational video
Thanks JK!
Was there last week. It's a set fare now. $25.
@@joeswash6353 $25 from the cab, or it was $11.50-$12.00 for an UBER. The $25 flat rate is over-priced..
I got long hauled to the airport because of “traffic on Harmon”. Never again
