- Lyrics-
I always looked up on the ones who walked away
Choosing themselves over preset
Ways of looking at a future that had no room for the
Questions they lived for
Always knew i never could have walked away myself
My self worth was beyond any help
And i didnt care to test it against the rejection i had seen before
But those i loved so much they underwent a change
They're working fourty hours they got caught in the game
Like junkies running dry, the vulnerability
They're always there on time
We're never satisfied like junkies running dry
This wonderful generosity
A third of our lives to do what we please
Doesn't look that great to me
In fact it doesnt even look fair
They call it youthful idealism
And even I would have to agree with them
Except some of us grow up and its still there
I grow up too slow I don't wanna go
But now i'm working just like everyone else
But ill get out of here
There isn't one bad song on this album
Their second album wasn't that good
WTF did they break up? Id take Jesse over Lars Fredrickson any day.
I only really like this album
@@sabahbubbler Seedy?
@@watermelown2536 it's a joke since they only produced 1 album. Unless there's a second album I'm unaware of
op ivy are one of the few bands that i can listen to any one of there songs over and over again for hours on end back to back and never get tired of it
First punk song I ever heard. Was life changing as a teen in jr high. Still an absolutely amazing song.
To think that essentially this was just kids making this music still blows my mind today
So weird having music like this that sneaks under the mainstream radar. Most punk music does thankfully.
When I was 15 I used to listen to this song thinking it was about junkies not running out of dope , now 18 years later I realized or for me and my comprehension is living a clean life and maintaining a steady job.
27 songs of punk genius. Energy is a masterpiece, after all these years I still haven't grown old of it! Thanks for posting!
almost 2018.. and im still listen this! love it!
raditya marzuki fuuucking a
Omg 2018 was 6 years ago
My fave song on the album. This album Truly stands the test of time. I really wish they would re record Unreleased Energy, there were so many good songs on there too but the production quality was so quiet
"Some of us grow up, and it's still there"
I would say every speeding ticket I ever got was listening to this cd at the time
Operation Ivy's lyrics are so profound. I would say its comparable to Bob Dylan.
What
true, but with way better sound ;) no freakin mouthpiece i think?
I can't decide if Op Ivy or Bad Religion is my favorite punk band of all time. Bad Religion sounds every bit as good live as they do on CD. God I wish I'd have had the chance to see Op Ivy live!
I saw BR before I heard their albums and it actually took time to enjoy them because the live show was so incredible. Years later I saw a trio like OpIvy at a house party and there was a point I was convinced the entire house would collapse from everyone jumping around to...and I was ready for it to happen.
That said, if I had to pick only one punk band to listen to forever, I would probably go with Rancid if I couldn’t get a separate category for Ska.
@@hithere4719 My chick and I saw Rancid here in Tempe AZ at a small indoor venue called Celebrity Theatre. We were literally deaf for 4 days afterward. They jam hard. Tim and Matt have been killing punk songs since they were kids in Op Ivy. They've always stayed together.
@@DB-qg7hk I used to think this track was skipping because they’re flying through some insane rhythm together. I don’t know what the music would look like on paper, but I believe you when you say you saw it so hard you couldn’t hear.
Best punk album of all time. So crazy it was in 87. They laid the path for so many. Screw Brit Punk.
Sure was. They were the best ever. This is what give me energy when all else fails.
Hayden Carpenter screw brit punk? Some of the best punk ever is brit punk
James Oliveira And some Finnish punk too..just a little bit
@@cbeachnugga21 please socal punk scene was the best. Hands down
So cal had it all DK, op ivy, bad religion and black flag just to name a few
I grow
up too slow,
I don't wanna go!
Yeah Punk is definetly an attitude. I am def not what people would visualize as a punk music fanatic, but I do have that mentality that is staying true to who you are and not giving a damn about what anyone tells you. People who sit around dressing up to look like a punk are unsure of who their identity is so give them a break.
Everyone, you are not punk if you argue about what punk is, just listen to punk music and act punk, don't argue about whats punk
もう最高!
Knowledge translates to WISDOM.
Every track on this album is fucking amazing. My favorite album of al time.
When the Stars align.
one best punk albums ever ...energy you can listen to the whole album through what happened to punk fuck
This song has a zany feel at times
“I go up to SLO I don’t wanna go!”
fuck San Luis Obispo
Lihat senyum manis di atas bibir bergincu
omfg i fucken love operation ivy!! you are the awesomest for having this!! first to comment whoo!!
oP IVY > rANCID
mr pie yeah
You haven't heard enough Rancid. The lyrics on ...And Out Come The Wolves and Life Won't Wait are good enough to get tatted on yourself.
OP IVY = Rancid = Tim Armstrong
bigbag no way my friend op ivy is 1000 times better. These aren’t Tim Armstrong lyrics
@@smoothcremeux44 some of them are and it wasn't just Tim. Rancid was also Matt freeman too. That bass is just amazing. One of the few bands where I'd rather hear a bass solo than guitar solo
wow, people arguing back and forth about who's "really" punk rock is incredibly boring. Thats all I care to contribute
@Guitarmaniac4321 this punk was never mainstream
i always looked up to the ones who walked away
They're working forty hours, they got caught in the game."
Hi! very very cool shit!!!
op ivy might be doing a reunion
Operation Ivy I wish!!!!!
really??
Tipe x - genit.. Intro same... Haha
joonkies needs more beer or they will dry ;) ;) ;)
Similar chords maybe even the exact same, but it isn't the same song by a long shot.....it's alot more than just the chords that make a song.
Damn i have tight alcohol fever !
Play this song for my crack head neighbors they love it
I fucking love this song.... Smoke weed everyday...
your song intro is same with band group in indonesia ,tipe x "genit" , search and listen

Intro bass nya mirip lagu yang judulnya genit .. band tipe -x from Indonesia
ini tuh band favouritenya tresno tipe x
@fatmikeforpresident id say its more of a mindset then an attitude, you can be as bad ass as possible and still not fulfill what the songs talk about, its more or less do you think/use your mind or not
Needs more cowbell. jk
AdBlock is the answer to your troubles
People actually downvote Op Ivy?
@Guitarmaniac4321
cowbell
anything can be a trend, it can be good if people dont abuse it or the source and motive of the trend is pure. Otherwise its just more corporate experimentation, playing with our desires like sheep waiting to be slaughtered.
kinda sounds like the king of the hill theme song
fatmikeforpresident, you are wrong.
Ga enak didenger
Josh Homme approves this crap...
Trump is running dry, Trump is running dry lololo
i always looked up to the ones who walked away
