Complain! Complain! Life sucks anyway!
It it's all so hard let them take it all away.
Why the competition?
Why stress to death?
Be happy with what you have!
Most have so much less
I hope some day we realize how good it really is.

Yeah, I may hate my life at times but I always try to live! - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Listening to this song in sobriety, and knowing what I know about youth brigade, this song is meant to be...in no certain terms, ironic...he's making fun of the wasted youth, drunken hook up party scene...this song is meant to make a person think about what they are doing, I don't think it's actually intended to bring anyone down, but instead raise them up and inspire them...thats what I always loved about punk rock, it's not intended to be taken at face value, and its full of oxymorons...my take away from this song is that I am inspired to never repeat any of these things said in the song ever again.
It always seemed to be punks were burnt out and while trying to find there way they got lost and just not sure how to break free so they sang
The line that totally supports this is "I may hate my life, but at least I try to live"
Youth brigade….god bless them and punk rock…@adam punk rock is for you for me and for anyone whos all in….everyone is welcome and everything sucks
Right on!
I was bumpin this shit the other other day and my brother was all like why you listening to all this negative shit I’m like foo if you actually listen to the lyrics you will see it’s a positive song

21 years of heroin addiction. Been listening to youth brigade since I was 11. I'm 40 now. I'm still trying to get my life together....this song is still here trying to help me. Much love.

You’re lucky to be around still, with all the fentanyl around these days. I wish you the all the best. Good luck brotha
You ain't the only one out there my man, you never suffer alone, even when it feels like it. There's thousands of us, lean on us brother.

14 years for me tho its the damn fentynyl nowadays and like you, still trying to get my head out of my ass. 99% of the time I feel completely alienated by everyone that is not an addict which I get but I just wanted to say I got love for you bro bro, no homo :P :) Hopefully we can figure it out before it kills us. Hopefully.
I celebrate 2 years clean from heroin in 3 days...if I can do it you can do it...we have to much to live for... I have hope to spare if you need

Ever find a song that takes you back 17 years...and then you realize...you still hate you life although you're looking back on it with nostalgia because you're still trying to live? How good this really is.
Takes me back to being 17 at least.

My guitarist and best friend showed me a lot of music, and a lot of it will stick with me till I die. This is one of those songs.
A buddy of mine threw this track on a comp he made for me a couple decades ago. I still sing and play it on guitar often, great song!
You seem to have a really good friend.
I tried being wasted every day, I tried being sober every day. I just legit hate my life.

I remember when I first heard this song. Life and the message at the end of this helped me go from singing "I hate my life" to "I love my life". I'm thankful for my life.
Man at the time this song felt so real, now I look back and realize everything was fucking perfect back then! Now I listen and I get this crazy nostalgia. A reminder to us all that we're going to look back in ten years and realize how good we had it now too! Live every day like Skate 2 just came out.
Life is hard but the rockers survive and never let them take it. Always try to live!

Ey Essay what are you doing listening to youth brigade?
Yah, that's been said a million times in a million different ways. Good for you, you're just like the other sheep.
My first rock concert was t.s.o.l but youth brigade was there and I was into them more lol
You put pictures of the YOUTH BRIGADE from DC
I know what you said was 4 years ago but thank you so fucking much for seeing that too, and not being a kook
Sometimes you just gotta put respect on a 4 year old UA-cam comment

@@s.a.l.1974 They're both good, but DC plays way better and is more instrumentally intense.

Going through withdrawals to this
Oh yessssss I had this album than someone stole almost all of my late 70s early 80s hardcore collection. But now Its back to diggn in the crates. I recently found SSG record compilation that had Y. B., Minor threat, S. O. A , alot more .The compilation album has like 70 songs on it but in true badass fast hardcore 1 minute songs. Keep posting more hardcore plzzz lol
Nice how it’s photos of the wrong youth brigade hahaha! … I hate my life! Hahaha
"Why the competition? Why stress to death? Be happy with what you have, most have so much less!"
That line describes a horrible relationship riddled with transference I've become caught up in. The competition comes from the other end, the stress my own; we both need to grow the fuck up.
Love this song no matter the time or place and case...
just sounds like some pretentious ''look on the brightside'' shit to me
@@Beavisofficial I gotta admit, as I've gotten older this type of punk is a lot lower on my list when it comes to the few punk acts or artists I still really like, old or new. My tastes have changed, evolved, devolved etc. etc. since being young and first hearing this song... But there was a time that it did hit me a lot harder. I do kind of agree with you, and think a lot of hardcore was almost too ambitious (if that's how you'd put it?) in lyric, and it's not always easy. A lot of those older sxe songs and stuff are cheesy as hell now, and I'm not going to even lie about it. This just has a special memory for lots of reasons, but man, certain stuff didn't age too well. I'm a lot more jaded now than I was when I was young and heard this and other positive hardcore.
I flew through sxe and woiund up on the dark side of addiction to be honest, and then made it back out... The whole scene back then is dead or old now, and it just doesn't sound the same when you yourself are also older and have been through real life.
Back then it was different hence the good memories. There was (probably still kicking around knowing how it goes) a fun hardcore band called The Slumlords (pieces of other older acts... god my brain is dead ... uh...RAW DEAL! and/or Killing Time members, I think) and they have a pretty good song called "Drunk at the Youth of Today Reuinion: ....sums it up. I saw a GB reunion that Murphy's Law opened at, so it was universal in a way,. that song by the Slumlords is a pretty good take on sxe bands nowadays. So many playing riotfest this year.... it's kinda embarrassing.

Youth brigade CA and youth brigade DC are two VEEERRRY different things my friend.
how so? curious...
@@france.the_bastard well I dont listen to much punk anymore, I prefer music now that glorifies the Lord our God. However youth brigade CA (sink with ca, i hate my life, blown away, etc) are moreso melodic hardcore and have that goofy fun punk rhythm where as youth brigade DC is pretty much straight hardcore. Very angry, straight to the point, bang your head till your eyes fall out and blood comes out of your ears kind of punk. Having become a born again Christian I pretty much only enjoy music now that glorifies God and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
@@paulbeahm3891 Most christian music I've heard ain't that good, what are your top three favourite songs? I'd love to check them out haha :)
@@JohnSmith-kt3yy I really enjoy chris tomlins music, his lyrics are very biblical and hes quite talented. I specifically enjoy his songs "indescribable", "on our side", "how great is our God" and alot of others. He does a really good amazing grace cover with his own chorus.

so fun to mosh in the 80s (HB, Cuckoos nest) with these awesome musicians.
