This is one of those albums that are timeless, meaning they apply to every age of society. Another way to say it is that Operation Ivy's lyrics can be applied to our lives no matter our situations.

played bass in a band in high school... we covered this, take warning, and the crowd. man i havent listened to op ivy in years. what the hell was i thinking?! brings me right back to those good ol days.

I always only knew little bits of the lyrics since Jesse is such an amazing singer, and sorta got an idea of him talking about this climate of shittiness around him. But now that I read the lyrics here (after listening to the song for eleven years) it is even better than I thought!

This was a favorite song to play when we'd drive to go skiing in Colorado. When the chorus plays, we'd turn the heat to AC and roll down the windows and sing along. There was a serious freeze up when we did that!
I started listening to these guys 14 years ago and still dig them just like the first time I ever heard them.
This lyrics to this song originally said "it's 1988 ,get up and take a look around". But because of the run around they got and time it took during the production they changed it to "Its 1989". And the rest is history........

This song has historical quality that is both enlightening and depressing at the same time. 1989, the rise of silicon valley. The tech industry thought they could bring people together, but all of this has only added more avenues for disagreement and division. The freeze up has happened, if only we could find the warmth to thaw it
