    Everyone in the oil and gas business in Ohio and west Virginia used these pullers since the 1930's. I have stopped in to Wyeth Scott to get springs and other parts. Great company to deal with.

    I have had this Wyeth-Scott Winch for more than a decade. It has been the best tool for getting my truck out of gullies ever. I have also moved downed trees with it and much more. Strong, flexible, an all round perfect tool. A must if you live in the outback or visit it often.

    I bought one that appears to be this brand. Got it in 1969 for $25. I still have it. Haven't used it in years upgraded to a winch. It was used a lot when I had me farm. There were places I could not get to with my winch when I needed to pull a tree from a path. The farm was hard work but enjoyed every minute of it. Health issues and the wife caused me to move to town.

    I have a couple masdam pullers and a lug all. I use the masdam with pulleys or mechanical advantage all the time. The lug all comes out once in a great while but the length of pull is the real short fall. The 35 ft pull on one of these means I’m gunna add one of these as an option.

    Great explanation video. I have been looking for an emergency recovery tool for my truck. I carry a lot of weight and don't want to spend a bunch of money getting aftermarket bumper and electric winch. They are super expensive, (winch and bumper) and heavy. My camper truck needs to stay light. I prefer to carry more camping gear supplies vs dead weight bumper and electric winch. When I'm stuck, normally a shovel or traction boards do the job. This gives me piece of mind to self recover with a winch, if the need comes up.

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  Місяць тому

      Without a doubt the More Power Pull is an economical tool for recovery and with the supplied snatch block it doubles your pulling power. Many off road enthusiasts have told me they carry this puller to get them out of trouble.

    Ive had the 2 ton version for many years. I love it. I use it regularly for dragging big logs. It's a little slow but it's a great tool. I will probably get the 3 ton version because I recently backed my f250 into a hole. The rear wheels were in the air and the truck was sitting on the frame. The two ton version wasn't strong enough to pull it out. I've got a crew cab with an 8' bed loaded with carpentry tools an its a very heavy pickup. The three ton may not have been enough, I don't know.

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  6 місяців тому +1

      Tim, I think the 3ton would do the trick using the pulley to double the pulling power to 12,000 lbs.

    I've done a lot with the cheap come a longs, albeit with some frustrating issues like a short handle, short cable length, clunky operation and a lot of extra straps and shackles. This tool solves all of those problems. Definitely a good buy that will serve its purpose a long time

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  6 місяців тому

      Allen, I agree with all the issues you have pointed out. If you only use a come-along ounce every two years this winch might not be for you. But if you want a quality well built winch The More Powwer Puller is the tool to own.

    I've had one of these for 6 or 8 years and love it. I mostly use it for pulling hung up trees down while cutting firewood. Very good and accurate review. I do have two additional comments. The blue cable is absolutely fantastic to work with the only downside is that it is not anywhere near as abrasion resistant as steel cable so you have to be careful with it. You don't want to drag it across the ground or have it rub up against a tree or a rock when you're pulling. It's really well-made and with the exception of the cable should last literally Generations. if you ever did need a part they sell all the parts for any winch they've made for the last 50 years. Not only that but I noticed that the price of the parts are very reasonably priced. These are light years ahead of the stamped steel cheap come alongs. I bought mine after bending breaking or wearing out three cheaper come alongs.

      @@TonysCoolTools thinking of the expense and weight of a bumper power winch would look cool but it isn’t flexible. I use it from any direction and in many applications. Weighing the options for back-up which are most likely to solve a problem this was an easy call. I have no problem with paying for a totally high quality, family USA company was the right decision. The synthetic line lbs very cool. I had 3500 lb compact tractor was sliding down a mountain side in NC and the winch took a while but save it and got it out.

I have a similar style feed through 3 strand come along that does not spool the cordage,it does not compare to that beast you are reviewing but has its place in my arsenal, due to the fact I can run an unlimited amount of cordage. I accidentally sent my first message before it was complete. Great video as usual. If you’re pulling a tree that leans heavy to one direction. If you want to pull the tree in the opposite direction, the ability to crank fast enough. Just your opinion. Thanks Tony. Later Al

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  6 місяців тому

      Steve, both the Maasdam rope puller or The More Power Puller would not be good candidates for a heavy leaner because as you mentioned once you get tree over center you can't crank fast enough and could be a problem.
      The Portable Winch would definitely be a better option.

    I volunteer for an organization that does trail work on the Allegheny Trail. We have a Masdamn Rope Puller, a 2 and 1 ton Grip-Hoist and the tool you just shown. All of them have their place when doing different types of work. But when packing equipment long distances the lighter the better so the Grip-Hoist is our go to. But you'll not get any simpler than this tool.

    • @TonysCoolTools

      I highly recommend the extension handle. Unfortunately mine wasn’t delivered in time when I was making the video. The extension bar will save your back when winching from the ground. Also order a couple extra cotter pins that hold the handle to Athena extension bar. They are easy to misplace.👍TCT

    How well does the Amsteel Blue hold up when exposed to sunlight or winching across gravel and rocks?🤔

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  6 місяців тому

      Can’t speak to the abrasion on gravel but here is what the makers of the rope say on sunlight exposure.
      “Per Samson®: AmSteel-Blue, an HMPE rope, will not dry rot. The temperature only becomes an issue if it reaches 150 degrees or higher. You may start to see some color fading in the rope, but that has no effect on strength. ”

I was pulling on my truck with it and thinking, "If this thing blows up in my face I can't even get to the hospital because my truck will still be stuck and there is no phone reception here."
