James looks like shaggy from scooby doo
Rrhut?
Lol...
Zoinks!
He looks like he's shlorping lots of beer and bourbon around that time.
😂😂
Good one shaggy!
Jason was always a thrasher ..he’s headbanging so hard and his energy is amazing I miss him in the band for sure as great as rob is but Jason was just always having a great time playing the older stuff
Jason was my favourite member for sure!
As James said, he wasn't afraid to step up and bark
Jason's flotzan and Jetsam days were great too.
Jason Love.
He hated playing Enter Sandman after awhile
Jason’s stage presence at 4:20 is the stuff legends are made of. No disrespect to Rob who has made a legacy of his own in Metallica but this right here me at 14 years old…this is my Metallica.
He’ll always be Newkid to me cos I’m old af now
Rob Trujillo is the longest tenured bassist and I'm shook about how quickly time has gone by. Jason rocked!
Right? I keep having conversations about metallica and I keep wanting to talk about how Jason was there so long, but Rob's completely eclipsed him now in terms of tenure. Good on rob, love them both. Had a hard time getting used to rob at first, but he's right at home
Jason was still on the most albums though, which is also crazy.
Jason's backvocals was amazing !
Always! He should never leave the band...
She should have never quit...when she quit...she violated the "we'll never stop we'll never quit cause we're Metallica" rule!!!
@@shawnstephens6795 ...who is she?
@@dkonciousblkfemknightman ...jason the day he quit the band.
@@shawnstephens6795 ..well its he not she
That Sabbra Cadabra at the very beginning sounded groovy af
That’s the cleanest I’ve ever seen Kirk Hammett play a Kirk Hammett solo. Impressive
James looked badass here, their attitude and playing was tight as fuck.
Yeah!! Not Papa Het yet!! 😎😎🖤🖤
@@bryanmack7463 it wasn’t the effects, it was his sucky improvisations in his solos like Lars’ constant fills on drums. They just stopped caring about being tight with their live performances.
@@FlipGuitarist80 Please...your ignorance is showing
Best back vocals I've ever heard from Jason is creeping death live in Russia 91 I think.. gave me chills
Up there with Seatle 89

@@karolantkowiak5400 1a and 1b. I feel like anything Post-Black was the beginning of the decline into Cowboy Muppet James. Not entirely his fault. I blame Bob Rock and the wear and tear of that non stop tour schedule. Glad he seems to have found his voice again these days
I saw them in the mid 90s
Newsted broke a string and Lars' drums were in my rib cage
Fuckin awesome show
I saw them in June '88 on mor tour...
4 other bands played as well however nobody else stood a chance that day !
I saw them in ‘94 on the lawn at Star Lake, Pittsburgh, and the drums were so heavy I had to kneel behind people a few times to get relief. The most intense sensation. Have seen them 6 times since and scheduled to see them twice on the M72 tour.
@@Rickkelley365 nice☠
I'm not sure you could break a bass string.. is that even possible?
Rib cage what do you mean??😂
To this day I never understood why the took the bridge section out of this song live. It’s one of the best riffs on the album. KH riff.
It's hilarious when Dave Lombardo fills in and plays the bridge part and James is standing there like... Uhhh we don't play that part anymore
The first part probably had to much Jason live.
Literally the peak of the fuggin song
Because it became one of the 'are you alive' songs which goes right into solo no bridges
Yeah, it's awesome and the lead up to the solo(the set up that makes it sound so good)and it's not like they can't play it?
"I said do you want it fast or slow? Hey is she not wearing a shirt?!"
1:46
awesome tits btw
I NOTICED THAT IT WAS ALSO “MOST REPLAYED” 💀💀
i love the sabbra cadabra jam before they started😂
Jason Newkids backing vocals were amazing. RIP Cliff. Luv for Jason
Closest we ever got to James growing his hair back lol
he actually just did within the last few years lol
Should have kept it like that
6th row at Pine Knob during the And Justice For All tour, sitting right next to a stack of amps.
Nothing like feeling sound vibrate through your entire body for 3 days
Pine Knob!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Another good song to test the drummer. Battery.
Also a perfect test of the masturbation muscle of a guitarist...
Yes i want to try.. But dont have drumset... So expansive to buy
And Lars usually fails at his own songs. Still love his drums though
Another good thing to do to your drummer. Battery.
Lars fails the test every time.
One of the best live version of that song!
Best version of this song is 1989 live shit binge and purge Seattle
@@NatePlaysCello Yes! this is not even remotely the same compared to seattle 89, that was just faster and brutal!
Nah, I'd have to say the Basel 1993 version, or Seattle 89', since they used to actually INCLUDE THE MIDDLE SECTION! Still pissed that they always left that part out, it's the best part of the song imo!
The best live version is with Dave Lombardo
Pounding out aggression turns into obsession can not kill the Battery
Fucking A Right!
Was it not "fucking eat rice" 😂
Примерно 35 лет назад , я впервые услышал эту песню ! Это первая песня, с которой я не прекращаю, и по сей день , слушать метал ! Спасибо Metallica 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
James hetfields guitar looks like a monster energy drink lol
Probabaly had like 10 b4 the show lmao
Predates monster energy drink by 6 years. He designed that custom in 1996, monster came out in 2002. Sorry, I googled that, was just curious.
@@edmund7290 it's a shame that guitar had a limited run, grats to the people who picked one up.
Those thin flames were one ugly design, glad they never made it out of the 2000s
But looks a bit too Megadeth don't you think😅

Yeah, but nothing last forever
I kind of like how James looked back then. He hair at the time was quite neat 👌.

Jason is sorely missed
Wish Metallica could still be like this. That’s my only eternal wish
This is what I like when times Jason is still in METALLICA. ALL songs made even better because of his backing vocals. Even now Jason is not in band Jason is still the best for me for METALLICA as a BASS player and backing singer
I love everything Cliff brought to the band, but Jason made this band a monster live. Rob has chops but live, stay away from that mic son 😂
Cliff vocals m.ua-cam.com/video/f3BR45LwtM8/v-deo.html
They look so young 😭😭🖤🖤
Rob is fucking great at the backs in their current tour. Check out the most recent Battery video for comparison.
@@vovahimself clean your ears 😂 not even close
Metallica was never the same after the departure of Jason. He added so much to the band that’s just lacking today. His bass tone and backing vocals are bad ass.
Haha nope
Nah, Robert is way better! Although he did have a rough start with St Anger.
Better vocals, not better tone. Better song writing too unfortunately.
Dude tallica got way better in the death magnetic tour
@@dantrag2890 Bob Rock recorded the bass parts for st anger, not rob
That was awesome!
The latest Battery video I saw they played the bridgeeeee
Bruce Dickinson said "the world needs Iron Maiden" to Steve Harris about this time that year. Watching the guys from Metallica dress like Hot Topic employees and hang out with Limp Bizkit and Korn, he was absolutely right!
i love how Lars and Kirk are just chilling with Kid Rock at 0:00
this was the time I considered metallica to no longer be the top heavy act but this performance is bad ass
Who do you think on top during this time? For me, if it wasn’t Metallica, then it had to be Pantera. Metallica was still the top selling though.
Megadeth is a pretty heavy act to see
@thetribalist6923 pantera was kicking everyone's ass around this time

Drunken Until It Sleeps at the beginning always makes me giggle.
I can tell you why the most replayed part is where it's at....
I was wondering if anyone was gonna mention that or not in the comments.. 😂

OK OK OK 😀😀😀
I still remember when we (my friends Alejandro and Yamil) wached this recital on HBO live.
All things considered about how bad of a festival this was, it looked and sounded like a well/tightly played set from what it seems. Great stuff.
The actual music part of it was great. Everything else, not so much.
A lot of acts had some of their top sets here
The bands played great, especially on the East stage, but the promoters were a bunch of butt heads.
the only bad thing about it was the $ of food+beverage and then late sunday night when morons started setting stuff on fire, but that wasn't until the very end (RHCP played FIRE by Hendrix and there were large piles of trash all around...someone got an idea)
@countof3everybodyOD yes limp bizkit, rage and Korn all rocked the place down. Many others did too.
Totally rad! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Kirk was on top of his game here, damn.
Gotta say...I wish james kept even THIS hair...It really git his style
1986. Ozzy ultimate sin and Metallica master of puppets. Meadowlands arena NJ. Wow what a show and lineup. Metallica had just as many people as an opener as Ozzy. Creeping death. The whole crowd. Kill kill kill

In the Netflix doc you can see the crowd going absolutely bonkers with the Nu-Metal bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit, not so much here, only goes to show classic Metal was out of fashion at the time. Still, great performance here, apparently Lars could still resemble a good drummer.
This was the 3rd encore. People didn’t expect them to come out a 2nd and then a 3rd time so they started leaving. I was pretty far out but thanks to that by the time Battery started I was 50 feet from the stage.
In my experiences at Metallica shows people tend to spread out and listen in reverence. It's not that they aren't into it it's that they are in awe of it. They are a prestige band.
@@Stormpants today maybe... in 99 not so much, cellphones still weren't plaguing gigs and Metallica were still young and super energetic. Nu Metal was the shit in '99 not 'dated' thrash Metal. (I fucking hate Nu Metal, btw).
that or the croweds health pool was depleted from thrashing prior
There was barely any mention of Metallica in that doc. I recall only a single 5 seconds-ish scene in which Kirk (during an interview at the festival) makes a tongue-in-cheek comment about how Woodstock became a capitalist venture. I don't know if the filmmakers reached out for more statements. They probably tried to call Fred Durst. Imagine how hilarious that would have been.
