James ability to play difficult riffs while singing is unreal
yeah both James and Dave play wicked off time notes while singing. They're both super talented in that regard.
@@corrado it's ridiculous. playing those riffs on their own is no easy feat, adding a full on melody over top at the same time is... mindboggling
yo me hago bolas, no puedo hacer ambas cosas a la vez, no con canciones de Metallica xD
dave dont sing. He is speaking
Amazing!
Can we all just appreciate how all of these guys are approaching the age of fucking 60 and they're still able to play at a high level let alone even be able to play this type of music. God, I hope they can keep doing this forever!

This is the best James has sounded in years, good for him.
Good for us!
And if he’s sounding this good and they have been recording is a good indication he’s gonna be sounding great on the new album.
@@MrNeitonJr y
It’s after tuned, which is fine. We are blessed having these shows after all these years! Especially for young people, like me.
James got sober again
Absolutely insane to know these guys have been ripping it for 40+ years and still going strong
The energy and the strenght they have is unbelievable for their aged.
They have powerful Battery ;p
It's becuz they don't do drugs

Same here man, im pumped af to go see them here in Brazil \w/

I just hope I have the time to 🤘🏻, would be my first concert
I WAS THERE and it was EPIC !!! Long live Metallica !

Me too!!
i saw them in their hometown for the 40th anniversary celebration
You lucky fuckers!!!
I was too! It was fucking amazing!!!
Playing those fast riffs while singing.......never fails to amaze me
Production quality on these round of videos is incredible. The investment Metallica makes into their fans in unmatched. Thank you Metallica, for everything!
Yeah these videos will be master pieces in the future
Well done but the best live recording is Rammstein Du hast in Paris. Not because I am a fanboy, I love both, but the mentioned video has the highest live production standard I’ve ever seen. They must be have used 40 cams or more. Alone the drums are packed with 5-7 cams.
@@TheApp9 But there is a lot of difference between that concert and this one. That concert was made explicitly to be recorded as a live album, this one is simply a video from one of their many concerts.
James right hand is immortal, even Father Time can’t defeat his crispy and always on point rhythm guitar, I love this band
He's been practicing since puberty hahaha
@ His riffs are The House That Jack Built.
I imagine his handshakes are like handcracks
Dont jinx us, man!
This Song is more than ever dangerous for my Neck, now at Age 52. Love it Guys !!!!!!!!!!!!
darth sidious? what are you doing in a metallica video?

I will be 50 this year, fuckers still give me the chills…Saw them in 86, still sound incredible….God bless Metallica forever…

I'm really impressed with the level that Metallica maintains, Metallica forever! 🤘🏻🔥
@@larryb4598 no it doesn't it is much better now than it was when they recorded it.
@@larryb4598 James' voice has aged well, fool
As a ‘Tallica “family member” for 28+ years I must say it’s sad to see how they’ve slowed down over the last few years. I still have nothing but respect for them but we can’t pretend the energy level and speed are where they need to be. Yes I think they’re doing good for their age but I remember not all that long ago we didn’t have to add “…..for their age” because they were amazing for ANY age and now that’s simply NOT the case. If you don’t believe me play the 1986 show in Canada (Battery was the first song they played) and compare it to this….then play this song at 1.25 playback speed…..
I love Metallica, but everything is fixed-)
Fer García... Spanish ? Nashex.
The moment that spotlight hits James and he starts trashin that riff is the most epic thing ever. It gives me goosebumps every single time ❤ Riffmaster ❤
Had me floating at the show when I saw that
@@lumberc hope they are coming to Belgium 🙏 wish to see them live one day
I know right!! Fucking fast and heavy as shit!!!
🤘
If that riff doesn't wake up the world then what could??
Lars getting better with the drums every performance! Haven’t heard the double kicks so clean in a while, especially not in time!
He sounds really good here!
Yeah he's almost up to professional level! well done Lars.
there's gotta be at least one of these cringy comments under every Metallica video lmao
He's becoming good again
Can you imagine how Metallica would be with Paul Bostaph at the drums ? Poor Lars...
Kirk shredding still blows my mind.
He still gets so into it also which just makes it 10x cooler!!
He’s really back on it
They’re sounding better than ever, wtf. Lars absolutely killing it!! ❤️
Like the old days
I judge him so hard. That was indeed stellar
I heard he took some drum classes. 🤣
@@jurgencuypers8350 Lars probably took his own Metallica course they put up last year

Metallica never gets old! I've been a die hard fan since 1989. My only wish is that the United States embassy in Cairo would agree on my tourist visa and I could for once in my life experience them live!
They are plenty of times in Europe, you should have less trouble coming over here
@@jannik93
Thanks! I'll surely try that!
Fly into Mexico walk right across the border and see them in Los Angeles.
@@mikegraphone2736 exactly friend
Metallica deserve so much respect! Whether you like them or not, they have pushed boundaries in music that no one has ever done! There are so many incredible compositions that Metallica have done, it really is truly remarkable! Busting out songs from your first album like it's 1983 in 2022 gets a hell of a lot of respect from me! You're just a solid band that has been consistent throughout my life! Thankyou so much!!!
James, so many times your songs got me through death and sorrow. Even as an adult battling suicide I turned to God and Your music. You've saved me countless times.
From being a young skater smashing beer bottles over my head listening to battery
To being a father of 4 and playing your songs as chill covers to my young kids.
I THANK YOU FRIEND.
MUCH 💘 LOVE BUD.
I listened to Metallica in the 80's-90's 00's and here I am listening to Metallica in 2022.
It's required listening to stay sane in an insane world 🌍
How old are you?
@@mitchxnxtx 48 in July. I was 9 when KEA came out.
@@Badass1974 great 👍🏼
Metallica used to have the best song intros ever recorded. For their first 5 albums they managed to tapped into some musical magical creativity. Amazing.
Drugs are a hell of a thing
Kill Em All - Fight Fire With Fire - Battery - Blackened - Enter Sandman is a pretty unbeatable run of intros
These guys have consistently been one of the best live acts for 40 years. Damn.
This was a real heavy metal rock n roll band.. I'm also 60's Club Members and Happy 40+ years to Metalica from Malaysia🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Awesome 👍👍👍 friend
Metallica fans from Malaysia too 🤘🏻
I love, how Lars improved his drumming, also I'm so happy to see James in good shape🤘
I notice when Lars actually does play the double-bass he's playing the rest of the song slightly slower (which sounds like a bad thing, but it isn't), in order to still be able to engage his feet properly. I'm hoping he does the same with Spit Out The Bone: I'd rather hear it at a slightly slower tempo *with* double-bass than without.
@@johnknight9150 I know what you are saying man, it is better to play at a sustainable level rather than over do it and play half of the song sloppy.
@@razormazor6947 Hell, I don't mind sloppy so much, but skipping the cool bits destroys the experience. It's like if Kirk skipped the guitar solos.
@@johnknight9150 I got ya brother ! \m/
@Hunter Vonnegut Fuck no.
Metallica is in my soul forever.
That intro to is one of the most Epic of any Metallica song ever. It never ceases to hype me up.
METALLICA are the only band where the idea of playing in their 70s makes sense...they are a metaphysical entity at this point. A Universal element 🤘🏻😎
They're breaking down little by little without James there no Metallica in future
This was older son's first Metallica concert, and my youngest son's FIRST CONCERT EVER!! Incredible performance by an equally incredible band. Great show!!
I was up front for this show and still can’t believe that I was part of that huge crowd. I’ll always remember this show
me too bro!!!
Let’s go boys!!!!! 🤟🤟🤟
It's amazing to watch the older videos compared the the newer ones. James still ownes the stage. His hair is shorter and he doesn't headbang as much. But the stage presence and attitude haven't missed a beat. James is the GOAT.
YEAH! That's what you call double bass 🤘🤘Amazing performance by all!
dude the front two pits that opened up merged into each other and everyone was doing like a figure 8 between both pits just smashing into people in the middle during this song. it was glorious man the love i saw from fellow metallica fans made that whole weekend worth it.
I have listened to this song over and over, even now when I'm down, it helps me, I don't know why, it reflects my feelings and I feel understood, it helps more than any medicine, thanks James and all the boys, you really saved my life with this!

This is my opinion though and I didn't ask yours at all anyway :)
@Elena Babasioti It's okay that you like Metallica, and I'm sure many others too. I don't think
Superp0oo0per 2020 intended to judge you, I see it as a friendly comment to raise a discussion. Everyone is welcome to write their own opinion and you shouldn't get excited about other people not agreeing with you. And Besides, we are metalheads, what else will we do if not argue about bands?
And I'm 15 years old, so I'm probably not older than you.
And if I'm already here: I think Metallica WAS great in Kill, Ride, Master, and Justice (although I really don't like the tone and mix in Justice), but then they started to go more mainstream and became less and less unique. In my opinion, Cliff Burton made them awesome and since he died they just worsened (again, only my personal opinion). Besides, Lars maybe WAS good with speed and tightness when he was young, but come on, you can't say he's good now, and I'm saying this as a metal drummer.
@@Superpooper-2020 or they just like metallica just because someone like Metallica dosent mean they are a newbie in metal metallica is my favorite band and I've been listening to metal my whole life

Ok metallica love
Glad to say I was there! Incredible performance! This was one of the last songs they played, their ability is astounding, especially for their age!
THE BRIDGE IS HERE LETS GOOOOO
I love metallica
4:04 That was the cleanest live outtro of Kirk's solo by Lars... Double bass transition! Wow!
@ghost mall exactly my thought, he doesn't deserve the hate
I noticed too!! Usually kinda flubs that fill...
Exactly. No point listening if ur gonna draw comparisons and hate on him. The guy's a genius and it's his playing that inspired me to play drums, in fact this very song was the first metal song I ever heard and I'd never been so impressed, fascinated and inspired by anything. From that moment I was hooked and I only hope I can give half as much enthusiasm to anything when I'm Lars' age as he does now. His showmanship, energy and stage presence is something to behold
Lars is The Biggest Legend ever. ❤️
There wasn't any double bass there, dude
Its pretty fkn amazing when You think about it that Metallica has played & Toured for 41 years and still can deliver so skullcrushing and epic on stage..🔥🎸

40 years old for the legendary best metal band ever!!! 🤘🤘
The alarm set can't wait thanks Metallica for all the good music
This was the first song by Metallica that I heard live, May 26th, 1986 at the Iowa Jam and Cliff was still with them. I'll never forget when they came on stage and James said, " You wanna hear some FUC*ING noise!!?" and then played this song! It was fantabulous! I still have my ticket stub! I'd love to hear that show again! I'm sure it's out there somewhere...🤘🤘
Metallica had a good 50-60 Songs that I love
Rewatching and love the lights from the audience at the beginning. Nice little touch.
Legends. SMASHING Battery at their age is beyond impressive !!!
James sounds awesome so does everyone else , can’t believe how awesome they still sound decades later !!!

4:04 I cannot remember the last time I saw Lars bloody Ulrich play this fill in battery… must of been mid nineties! Am I dreaming?
He always plays it

Man the minute you’d hit play on your cassette in 86 to hear this for the 1st time it made them the baddest band on the planet immediately 🖤I was 15 & Metallica were the biggest underground band the world had seen 🤤
James looking healthy and good. The band is legendary!💪
The adrenaline starts to flow when that intro hits, I was thrashing all around when I was there 🤘🤘
I just can't believe the energy they can show us at their age...incredible!!
I can still remember where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard "Battery" back in 1986. I didn't know who it was but I remember how aggressive it was, and it threw me for a loop. I think that the album version of this song can still go toe to toe with anything being put out today.
Just awesome
