Your common sense advice is helpful. Thank you. On a personal note: - - I started in March 2022. The #1 benefit I received was the improvement of my writing skills and storytelling style. I discovered my ability to tell a story using no more than 150 words and they are fun writing. .
I love your advice to not solely depend on Medium for earning income. I think its important for writers to diversify income with multiple income streams. I am an aspiring Sci-Fi Romance writer. While I currently write my first book, I am going to blog on medium under my pen name. I am going to make blog post for SiFi Romance readers and enthusiasts. My goal is to use Medium to build my email list, and build an audience while I write my first book!

Hi Tiffany! :) I'm glad this was helpful! Your plan sounds solid - that's exactly how I'd recommend doing it! All the best! :)
Hi, why are you using medium instead of making your own blog or something where you could write about? I've been working on a similar service like medium that would be completely free with no adverts or memberships but no writer revenue either, can you give any advice for that?
Medium is a very powerful platform. Same happened to me. I got many offers, no idea how they found my e-mail. I know I should have an e-mail list. But still didn't do it 😅
By the way, I'd love interviews with middle class writers that make at least a part-time income on Medium. Not the top writers everyone knows that started in the golden age.

Hi Alberto! :) That's a great idea - I'll definitely look into it. How would you classify "middle class writers"? What's an average income range you'd find interesting? Let me know if you have any specific suggestions on who to talk to - I like this idea :)
@ thanks for the answer! Revenue-wise, they earn at least 4-figures, possibly an average full-time income. I would be curious to know if and how it's still possible just though the Partner Program. But also people getting clients or selling products thanks to Medium would make for great stories. Jason Provencio shared he was around 1500 a couple months ago. Kristina God maybe is a good example, although maybe she's a little more advanced. Unfortunately, these are stealth stories. It's much easier to find the numbers for the top 1%.

@@AlbertoCabasVidani That's great, thanks for the additional infos! :) I'm actually quite sure they're not as stealth as it might seam - what a lot of people underestimate is the fact that most writers (or most people in general) just don't want to share how much money they make. It's highly personal and sensitive information. Lots of my students wouldn't ever share their income publicly simply because they don't want friends, family, or even their coworkers/boss to see they're making a specific amount on the internet. It was a huge challenge for me too, so I can totally relate personally, but this side isn't obvious for most people.
Great video! You have inspired me to go this direction! What tools do you use for your CTA - for signing up for an email funnel and being able to download lead magnets?
Thanks for the awesome tips~! I am looking to start writing on Medium and was wondering how the MPP payment works - is it based on new reads per month?
Рік тому+3
Hi Amalia! :) Your earnings through the MPP are calculated based on "Member Reading Time," so the more time paying members spend on your stories, the more you earn. It's not about new reads per month. :) You can find all details here: medium.com/earn
Thank you for sharing. In your opinion, how "big" needs a writer to be to get paid clients organically?

In my experience, writing clients don't pay much attention to follower counts. If they come across a story that resonates and think your tone/voice might be a fit for them, they'll get in touch. So it's less about having followers and more about having individual pieces that get discovered and showcase your strengths. Naturally, writing these types of posts in the long run will lead to growth anyway.
Thank you for the great info, I wanted to follow up and ask - is it better to focus on one niche when writing or is it better to diversify to different types of content? Because from what I've seen is it's better to write often, several times a week and it's hard to focus on a niche or topic and write the same things so much.
I'm gonna watch your full video, but I have a question in my mind.... have you left writing articles on medium?...... I 've not found new posts there..

@ oh yes, I agree
I used "stealth" inappropriately. I meant they are not as evident.

Is medium better than Wattpad? Can I write novels? And then query agents?
