Thank you Sinem, my name is Kevin you are a true motivator I listen to your topics on Medium. Thanks to you I publish my first story on Medium you are my mentor.
Well said. Your comment, "Practice in public" at time stamp 12:02 is the best advice for everyone who has stories within their memories and wants to tell them. For me, the easiest writing are the moments I remember as a child, like birthdays, and school days. Your 4th idea "Simplicity Wins," is a valid goal. Using a sentence like “Don’t give me your Controlling Restrictive Attitudinal Pontifical nonsense.” Instead of, "Don't give me your CRAP, nonsense!" Will improve word flow. .
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I am still new to Medium but for someone who don't really like writing, I find Medium addicitive. And the fact that the community is great, makes me want to write more.
Haha. It is exactly like you said. First Month getting haters I was heartbroken, even thought about deleting my account. But then I just got used to it. It is actually good to practice not caring about every single person's opinion. When you learn how to deal with that, it is like super powers hehe Haters normally don't have a picture, either a real name, sometimes people write things only based in the title, they don't even bother reading the article before commenting. Other times they try to practice their ability to disagree with something and they use your article for that. It is not personal. They have never met you. There are even people that go there to promote their business. So, after some time. You know from who you should take feedback and from who you shouldn't.

YES, I couldn't agree more with you! Very few of all negative comments I ever received were actually factual and constructive. It's great you didn't let those comments hold you back! :)
❤love this message. Simplicity and just go for it getting the message out if your head onto the page. Thanks so much. Simplicity is the huge take away ❤
Thanks for sharing! I'm new to this so please excuse my direct questions! How do you research your stories, or are they just your own opinions from your own imagination and life experience? What makes you feel confident you have the authority to publish articles on your topics of choice? Asking from the perspective of a person that would struggle with these questions myself because I don't understand why anyone would want to listen to me because I'm just some random person on the internet and not an expert in any particular field.

Such great advice! Thank you. I meant to write a very short story, but it ended up being 13,000 words long - nonfiction. Will Medium accept a story that large? I am also using a "Pen name" and want to keep my contact info private. Can I do that on medium?

Hi Marie! :) You can publish stories of any length on Medium! 13,000 words is certainly longer than the average but you can still go with it. Using a pen name is perfectly fine too! :)
I wonder... what if I use the writing skills you teach for myself, as a form of self-expression, and then turn that material into podcast content? Would that be a good strategy?

Hi Tahis! :) In my experience, when we write for ourselves, we write more "freely." We don't pay much attention to keeping our ideas short and punchy and instead let our thoughts wander. At least, that's what most people find helpful and sometimes even "therapeutic." This would make it hard to create a podcast based on your writing though. And even if you write as if you were writing for an audience, turning the material into a podcast only makes sense if you have a solid strategy and reason. Why would you create the podcast? Does it serve a business purpose? There are lots of other questions I'd ask myself first before diving into content creation. :)
They want something that hasn't been seen before I assume. The value of the article as a product goes down if even 10% of the target audience has already read it.

Thanks to you I am going back to Medium after failing miserably. Just published my first comeback article minutes ago. Thanks.

Hi this is Chiranjit. After signing up to your newsletter, I also subscribed to your UA-cam channel 😀
In fact a good writer is a good reader in my opinion. More you read ,more you can get ideas to write.

why do publishers want drafts on medium instead of my finished product. I don't have drafts.

If they don’t clap for my post but they leave a comment .. I don’t read it lol
