- Motorhome and campervan prices have increased significantly in the last few years and visitors to exhibitions and dealer showrooms could be surprised to see 20%+ increases in retail prices on both new and used motorhomes. That means financing your dream leisure vehicle purchase might be something you have to consider to help secure the deal.
But how does motorhome, caravan and campervan financing work? Where do you get it? What deals are out there? What if you can’t afford the repayments down the line? And, crucially, what are the pitfalls? Matt is here to explain all, including important information about rising interest rates and repayments.
Matt is joined by Jason Mawdsley of TMC, a UK motorhome dealership, and Steven Blake from Creative Funding Solutions, the independent financial brokers who specialise in leisure vehicle finance. Matt chats with both about the current and future market and asks Steve why you, as the consumer, should consider finance as a safe and hassle-free route to motorhome ownership.

It was mentioned I think nearer the start, that if you have a motorhome standing idle, you could rent it out. I am looking at buying a motorhome, but two fears; cost and will it get used enough to justify that spend. We have two properties that we AirBnb, but I am curious is this actually an option, to rent the MH when not in use, how would you advertise the van, and any other considerations. Thanks, think this would be an interesting topic for a future podcast.

We had a post-deposit price increase on our new motorhome last December. We ordered our new RollerTeam in September 2021 and paid a £3000 deposit, we then got an email in December telling us the final price was going to increase by £2300! The dealer was apologetic but the only options we had were accept the increase or cancel our order and get our deposit back.
We decided to accept the rise and go ahead with the purchase. The motorhome finally arrived in July (3 months late) and, due to yet another price increase that wasn’t passed onto us, was worth £4,000 more than we paid. The dealer told us the price for our model is due to increase again this October.
We think we got our motorhome just in time as with all these recent price increases, we wouldn’t have been able to afford one now!
What a journey! Thank goodness you now have it. I predict if you were to sell next year you could get all your money back and have had some great holidays for free! It’s a strange market isn’t it?! Welcome to the clan!
I ordered a campervan at the NEC show just gone. The dealer said he had to add £2,600 to the price but would bear any further price increase himself. I would definately cancel if he didn't stuck to his word.
That sounds like a respectable dealer, I'm interested to know if you have your campervan yet and if the price went up at all?
Why did he have to add a extra £2.600 surely you agreed a price
Prices of cars don’t go up after agreeing to purchase it and are camper vans not made in numbers or just when ordered
@@MotorhomeMatt Normally the delivery will be end of Summer which is earlier than the dealer had originally quoted. I am price protected as opposed to the other dealer who said I wouldn't be if I ordered through them.
@@colinturner4158 These increases are imposed by the manufacturers.
