Mike Patton inspires a cottage industry of vocal coaches who post reaction videos to his performances. They use technical language to describe what the man does as naturally as walking. That's how life can be cruel: You spend years training in a skill only to watch someone else do it far better than you ever can without trying. Mike Patton's voice is a goddamn miracle.

Go on and wring my neck
Like when a rag gets wet
    A little discipline
    For my pet genius
My head is like a lettuce
Go on and dig your thumbs in
    I cannot stop giving
    I'm thirty-something
    Sense of security
    Like pockets jingling
    Midlife crisis
    Suck ingenuity
    Down through the family tree
    You're perfect, yes, it's true
But without me you're only you
    Your menstruating heart
It ain't bleedin' enough for two
    It's a midlife crisis
    It's a midlife crisis
    What an inheritance
    The salt and the kleenex
    Morbid self attention
    Bending my pinky back
    A little discipline
    A donor by habit
    A little discipline
    Rent an opinion
    Sense of security
    Holding blunt instrument
    Midlife crisis
    I'm a perfectionist
And perfect is a skinned knee
    You're perfect, yes, it's true

Mike Patton is one of those iconic voices, which there is no other like. Unmistakeable, and seemingly effortless but SO full of POWER. Like Staley, Cornell, Anselmo. Love, love, love it.

    • @RuneFun12

Naah you didn't.. You probably didn't grasp my comment, it was also kind of weird and off point.
I ment that your comment is great, i enjoy those singers so much like you do.. The music have helped me like music can help and inspire people and get them through the darker times etc etc..
Your comment was so well put, that it just made me regret the times i have tried introducing other people in real life to the music that i love... To get no reaction at all, i mean people are in general incredibly shallow when it comes to music and im not even trying to be edgy.
My point is that, music has to be watered down in some way so much for some people that they could never get into the likes of FNM and other bands ... As soon as it gets the tiniest bit unique it's either too complex for the ear or they simply just don't get it. Which is why i have decided never to talk music with anyone ever again, or tell them what kind of music i like.
