Just a really funny and down to earth kinda guy, I would've loved to have a drink with. It's such a shame what happened to him. I was in rehab when I heard he passed away. I know he didn't OD but I knew about his alcoholism and cocaine addiction had at the least been a part of his death, being so young. It was a cruel reminder of how life can be taken away from you in a whim. RIP Big Man.

Phil is the most important artist/personality/vocalist in all of heavy music. His constant support of small bands and his seemingly endless musical projects is an example of how to grow older with wisdom and lessons learned. Thankfully he didn’t become another statistic like many who came up around him and didn’t survive the demons of addiction. He is unscarred.
