- San Fernando Valley's own Brian James aka "Lonely" was County Born, State Raised and Federally Funded and just finished a 27-year bid and is a month fresh out of California State Prison. Lonely is currently living in a transitional "lifer" house which is part of the decompression process for inmates re-entering society after long bids. When Lonely was young CA State Child Services removed him from his Heroin addicted Parents and he was adopted by his Grandparents. Never feeling loved or accepted, Lonely searched the cold streets of the East Side San Fernando Valley and eventually found his sense of Family in the Sol Valle Diablos Gang (SVDS). At a House Party Lonely ended up shooting and killing a man that provoked him. His reaction was the culmination of a drug fueled gang banging lifestyle. Dealing with the sobering guilt of committing murder Lonely found himself often times in 24-hour lock down taking inventory of his life. During his bid Lonely received word from his Mom that his beloved Grandmother, the love of his life had passed away. This was a turning point in Lonely's life for the better. He decided to make an evolution in his life and change his ways. Lonely is now a contributing member of society and sober. He is helping others be better people and paying it forward by being an example of change. He has a beautiful fiancé, a fulltime time job working at LA K9's a facility that works with dogs that have behavioral issues. Dogs have been an important part of Lonely's life as they have provided him mutual comfort, acceptance, and work ethic. Positive Change Dog Program at California State Prison - Corcoran was Lonely's first introduction to the power and comfort of Dogs....

I was with this dude upstate. All I can say is.... it's really good to see him out and bettering his life. I, myself, did 12 years and was running amuck with that gang mentality and using that black potion. I used with him and to see him out and becoming a better man is really a blessing from GOD. Man I totally felt when he said “the woman that loved me most in life passed away” because that’s exactly how I felt when my mom passed away last October. That’s literally what I tell people when they ask how I’m doing and all that. I’m sorry for your loss Lonely….my condolences if you happen to see this 💯
