It’s been so long, but it’s been exactly 40 years since Stevie performed live at the el mocambo on July 20, 1983, he was such an amazing player and every note he played there came from his soul
Look up the autobiography Within Heaven's Gates by Rebecca Springer 😇
Tommy is the man. Phenomenally talented but such a humble and nice person.
I had an online guitar lesson with him. He is the coolest and most humble dude ever!! I spent most of the lesson just chatting and asking him questions lol it was awesome.
@@Star_Sn1per Dang man that’s really cool!
😊😊😊
Tommy's love of SRV is one thing but his dedication to knowing and understanding all the nuances of what made SRV playing is what sets him apart from others. Its just cool to watch him do his thing.
I was at this guys first show playing for voodoo blue. Crazy talent. The closest thing to SRV we will get ever.
When Tommy came out to Nacogdoches, Texas, I got to play Norbert. He was apprehensive to let a kid play it (can’t blame him) but I he let me do it and he told me to keep up the playing. A really great moment for me🎸
He’s super nice. I took lessons from him when I was 13-16 ish and he’d always let me play any of his guitars. Sometimes we’d swap guitars for the lesson. He’s awesome
Thank you so much for doing these videos. Tommy is a wonderful soul and deserves all the good attention, promotion, and praise you are providing. I love him as a brother, and know his dedication and relentless pursuit to honor his heroes has been unfortunately attacked by others. You are helping show the guitar world how giving, humble, and respectful he REALLY is... Yes he is an amazing musician, and he is an even more amazing and noble human. Hence, why I thank you for featuring Tommy on your channel. Hope to meet you at the Dallas Guitar Show next year!
I think "tribute artists" like Tommy are weird. I get paying respect to fallen guitar heros and musicians, but when hes literally copying and mimicking SRV on stage and off stage even down to his mannerisms... thats a little weird. Hes not even being recognized or making money off of his own music, hes getting paid to pretend to be Stevie. Dont this tribute artists want their own identity when it comes to playing guitar and writing music.

Not much different from an Elvis impersonator really.
Such an awesome video, I’d love to see another one showing his amps and pedals. I’ve been a huge fan of Tommy’s for many years. He’s such a phenomenal talent, and an incredibly hard working musician he deserves a ton of recognition, thank you for doing this video!
Absolutely the closest SRV sound and playing I’ve heard since SRV. He’s with us when you play his music! Brilliant player, humble and blessed. 🎸
I feel this guy, Gary Moore and Stevie Ray Vaughan are my heroes too. Both very unique guitar players and very inspiring as well.
Fantastic, what a treasure Tommy is. I've always rated SRV the best blues guitarist ever and to have Tommy doing his thing is brilliant. Thank you!
TK is a true gentleman! I’ve known him for years….I’ve taken lessons from him. I can tell ya that whenever I played his SRV copy, it sounded nothing like when he plays it!
Texas Flood is one of the most booked bands we have here in D/FW.
He’s such a beautiful person!
such a cool and humble guy .and a great player .
Tommy is national treasure, thanks for taking care of him :)
Awesome collection of guitars, really dig his number one Strat, definitely has sentimental value to it. Thanks for sharing Chris.
Keep the flame alive Tommy… I’ve been a fan for years. 🔥
Folks having the licks, tone (almost) from SRV are a dime a dozen-they all impress.Tommy, IMHO, has a kindred connection to the well SRV drew from. Great player, just as important, humble!
I've seen his band a few times and even had the opportunity to speak to Tommy. He's genuinely a good dude.
Wow, Tommy is amazing! Cool and humble also. You just earned another fan and I'm looking forward to hearing more of your awesome playing!!!
Tommy is so nice. What a dude and what a player! Love to see more stuff with him.
Wow, what a fantastic collection, playing, and talent Tommy has. Really glad I watched this video. Thanks 👍😎
When my son was 4, he was the ultimate natural relic craftsman. I shouldn have let him handle a few more of my strats, but he retired when he was about 8.
I've got a Tim Davis no.1, too! Really enjoyed this, been following Tommy since I was a kid. What a great player!
Man you’re lucky! I’ve played Tommy’s a bunch but I’ve always wanted one of my own. They’re the best
TOM KAT IS GOLD! That boy utterly Channel's Stevie, rest in peace SRV!
Tommy is Super Kool plays so fluently and clean can sing with the best of them to he is the complete Stevie Ray Vaughan package keep on Rockin Tommy 😎🤟🤟🎶💯
Those Fender WRHB pickups sound fantastic Out-of-Phase (sound good in-phase too).
It was like I was visiting him again. :) I miss you my brother. Much love.
Stevie would be very proud of your talent! Singing and jamming ⚡️🎸⚡️🎙️
Can you all get a big screen SRV movie motion picture started? of course Tommy as SRV, and so on…
Tommy’s a beast, Chris you’re phenomenal too.💥🔥💥🔥
Crazy talent here. But such a nice down to earth guy! And beautiful guitars! Thanks for the video, it's awesome to see Tommy in his natural habitat. Büszkék vagyunk rád Tomi! :D
Tommy’s humor is just so genuine
So glad someone is keeping that torch lit and in such fine fashion
Awsome guitar player, Stevie and Gary are 2 of my heros as well. Superb guitar collection 👌
I love that SRV poster on his wall.
I kept seeing smoke there must be a fire 🔥 some where ! The young man can burn the neck off his guitar ! Texas Flash !
Wow! Great interview and so cool... Thanks guys!
Not many capture the essence of SRV’s playing but Tommy, IMHO, is the number one here.
Wow this guy can really channel the SRV vibe, great job
Truth. I couldn’t stand this guy for many years, but Stevie is his Hero as he is mine. Stevie took a bunch of his hero’s put it in a pot and mixed it up. This guy is a hell of a guitar player and he’s too nice to hate on.
Stevie would’ve loved to play with this guy.
Very expressive player!
Love his number two Strat’s sound!
🙏
Was fortunate enough to see Tommy and company during a visit to Dallas. Amazing player and the show was fantastic. Hopefully I have another chance to see him again when I go back to visit family.
Thanks for this video!! I join the request that you make one with Tommy's gear, pedals and amps that he currently uses, his audio is devastating! greetings from Argentina.
Thanks, I've been waiting for a video like this, seeing what Tommy's playing and the collection he has, I've always seen him playing his number 1 when I go see him live, would've like to seen what his bass player has, dude is a phenomenal player geez
19:39 wow!
I'm so glad you guys have a relationship cause we all got the love for stevie ray vaughan
What a nice guy, and a great guitar collection. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome collection of vintage Fender. Thanks for letting us have a little peek inside your lair. Really, amazing display of guitars and playing!! 🎸
Tommy is the best! He is the sweetest person ever. Amazing guitar player, actually my favorite one these days!
Tommy is a BEAST! I'm one of those nerds who likes to know what picks and strings he uses (I see he uses the round side of the pick like SRV and so many other blues players). What gauge string and picks please.
Tommy has to start his own UA-cam channel “!!!!!!
There would no be a better SRV player and probably teacher.
He does have a youtube channel ua-cam.com/channels/Vklxbg8sMG8ZjDGpQO80tQ.html
Fantastic playing Tommy❤
Having met and talked with Tommy at several clubs in the Dallas area I can tell you he is a very humble, extremely kind and accessible person as well as one of the best Texas Blues players. It's really hard to not think you are watching Stevie play when Tommy comes to life on his guitar. If you've never seen one of his live shows, do so, you won't be sorry.
The Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar is when The Relic craze started. Everybody wanted their strat to look like that but they didn't want to wait 30 years.
Tommy the best❤
Shout out to MJT bodies!
His tone is almost exact a true great in his own right 😊
nice. That signature smirk reveals when something good is comin'.
Have that same les paul, and love it! Been following Tommy for years, killer artist. Next time you're in texas, would love to jam with ya chris!
Amazing guitars! Thanks for sharing them. I also love Tommy’s accent - he clearly picked up that Texas twang.
I would also like to nominate “Tommy’s Tower of Tone” as a possible room name. 😊
Hey that's not bad, good name 🤘
Thank you so much for this !!! I love Tommy and this video is so cool! I hope there will be more with his amps and pedals. What did he use in this video?
Hey Vivien, my friend! Believe or not I was using a little Vox VT-20+ practice amp. 😉
@@tommykatona1984 Thank you so much my friend! Haha i knew i would be surprised of the answer ! I know these amps very well (been using them for years to give lessons)and you clearly show that you can get very convincing tone with the right fingers😊
My and my son got to meet Tommy at a show in Kemah Texas. Really nice guy took a picture with my kid, who is learning guitar. I am a big fan, And now so is my teenager
Very nice playing, I miss SRV and Gary Moore.👍🤘
You carry the torch for those Six Stringed Gunn Fighters that are gone to Heaven my Blues Brother
Cowboy
They played at a Christmas on the square thing in Wills Point Tx about 6 years ago i guess. It was freezing and there maybe 10 people watching. They played like it was packed audience. After the show he let my then 14 year old hold
#1 and pointed out the little details, talked amps and sound. Got some pictures with him. I'd never heard of them at that point, but I'm a fan for life. Awesome dude, awesome band.
The guitar playing at the end of that video was FIRE! OMG, this cat must be seen and heard MORE! I want more of this guitar player. Please, make it so.
This guy is "channeling" SRV when playing....spooky good!!
Those are cool guitars. I must say, the only thing I've ever been given is a kick in the pants and a boot out the door. But then again, I can't play like TK.
Really nice playing, thank you.
Hey it's Mimi!!! Love that chicks videos man, she can play the blues with the best of em'!!! She's most definetly spent some time grinding like the rest of us 😂😂.
Awesome video, I wasn't familiar with Tommy coming into this so thanks for that! It's always fun to check out a new player. Especially when they play a different style/genre from your own normal style/genre.
Crazy SRV maniacs. I'm sick with it too....;) Best regards. All guitars in good hands sound like a dream.
Great guy! Id love to see him play so Gary Moore tunes live. Nice collection, too!
Great player! Nice guitars too!
Awesome player! Cool guitars!
Damn…. At times I can hear Stevie’s accent come out when he talks. My boy been definitely been picking up that Texas twang 🤘😎
Wow! Superb Video.
What a cool guy and great player Tommy is. 💥
Which Amp did he use to demonstrate his guitars?
Sounds pretty good. 👌
Tommy Katona is a great guy, he can certainly play, I really like his ability to sound like his guitar heroes, that is not an easy thing to do, especially when those heroes were probably some of the worlds most talented guitarists.👏🎸
Tommy I love your playing just fantastic.thanks for sharing
Love this guy. GC show is unreal.
This video is so cool. I always wondered where his guitars came from.
I mean I know a beat up looking guitar is eye catching to the audience and your in all,But the string Guage and tension of SRV
If you have to choose two guitarist to idolize Stevie Ray and Gary Moore you really can’t go wrong their both phenomenal artist…👏🏼👏🏼
This is my guitar dream, to hang out and play with other players in this kind of context :D
This was great, thank you for sharing.
I've not watched the entire video you, I'm really curious as to what Mr. Katona is using for amplification.
Nice shot behind there from Tracy Anne Hart!
Your an amazing player Tommy!🎸
Awesome playing! Great SRV number one… but those saddles! 😅😂
Keep up the good work Pawn
I have a phase switch on all my guitars too I love it.
Wow,he keeps going from a Southern accent to a Hungarian accent...thats cool.👍
His goatee,his strat,his hair,his tone dang….my man reincarnated
I'm digging the red TF shirt. Tommy, I never got to see Stevie live. Like you, when I see you play it takes me to him.
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, just getting it done.
Another great video thanks.
If theres ever a biopic of srv this guy s gotta play the role
Awesome thanks for sharing cool info!
Hey Tommy! Truth is I been following you forever, yeah I do SRV but nobody like you brother! Gotta say never seen you play a Gary Moore lick/riff in my life I been both owning big fan (seeing him live far back as Corridors as well as Blues shows) and owned Les Pauls since teenager years!!!! Gotta request.... play some Gary Moore for us all, got no doubts you can do!! Me also huge Thin Lizzy fan I'm old been playing for decades!
Tommy is Stevie. It's crazy
Awsome Gibson Greenie, Gary would approve I'm sure. Midnight blues is my favorite song .
Please tell me there will be more vids looking at his amps and effects?! His tone is spot on. And I wanna know what Vox he was using. It sounded amazing
Thanks a lot man! Yes there will be more content coming soon. The little amp I was using here is my Vox VT-20+
@@tommykatona1984just the amp???
Seems like a genuinely nice guy✌️🏴
Eric Clapton even said he was intimidated by SRV’s playing. He said even himself had to stop or slow down to think about where to go next from time to time, but Stevie was a wide open flood gate. It poured out of his being to no end. SRV was allowed to be here by the grace of God for a few short years until he was called back to glory. This man here is a kindred spirit and is a great representation of what we lost but can be heard and seen again.
