Can TRAMS And PEDESTRIAN ZONES Fix Horrible 60% Traffic in Cities Skylines?

- In this episode we NEED to solve the massive traffic issues in our Capital City of Port Douglas - before we can realistically attempt to continue its expansion. So let's take a deep dive into the current traffic infrastructure and add some tweaks wherever we can - and hopefully solve the gridlocks!

- What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-UA-camr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay / let's play / timelapse series as we expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, sprawling suburbs and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!

thank you!
Don't Fix it! It's way easier to just change the region name to New Delhi or São Paulo ;)
Lol
jokes aside... awesome job fixing that! is Night n Day difference right there :O
You need to allow vehicles to turn into every lane on the next street. You've only allowed them to turn into one.
Love the new ped areas, they are not just nice builds but really have a sense of place. Feels really good.
22:50 A roundabout would be amazing!
I was gonna say: nice build, but since you're challenging us to write a comment... :p
If you want to go full assault mode on traffic jams (or at least want to eliminate the trams being stuck in traffic), go for this:
- No parking on the ring roads
- If possible: the tram has its' own right of way
- if not possible: go for one-way traffic, and the tramline going against the flow of traffic can have a right of way
- all city centre roads one-way or pedestrianized
- Expand the tramlines (sneaky plug for the proposed tram-map I made :p )
But to come back to my original comment: pretty sweet build, chief :)
42:52
i like how you tucked the smaller buildings
in there. I'm Brooklyn NY, born and raised, so I've seen
a lot of this is my lifetime. very real to me. #super #build
💯🙌😃
Refrain from using lane connectors and use the lane arrows of TMPE! 12:29 that junction management is horrible!
i vote no roundabout, the current simpler config accommodates both cars and seaside pedestrians equitably
maybe a bit late now but maybe a one way loop round the center might help with the traffic?
Hi, missed the videos so much)) Amazing job on traffic and gentrification of the downtown area! From a traffic perspective having a roundabout with tram tracks in the middle wouldn’t work well, if there is no regulation in favour of trams, although it looks cool, I wouldn’t go with that decision) And also, for the better use of public transit tram lines should definitely be dedicated ones if not the whole dedicated tracks. Also, there should be more north to south connections. And this build gave a nice idea of the future tram that goes to the west of the beach and then takes that middle street all the way to the railway station, right in the middle of buildings. And then it could go north into the mountains or just terminate at that point. Good luck, buddy!
The roundabout Idea is so great
I think you should put the tram on a pedestrian road by the ocean instead of the main road it’s on now. Then you can turn the beach into something a bit more boardwalky or promenade feeling or just a bit touristy. Also has the benefit of more efficient trams
I like these walkways, a very modern look at city development. I see it happening in the city I live nearby. Old roads in the city centre are now either walkways or roads for public transport and services.
Hey man! I could watch you detail for hours. I really like how you did these pedestrian strips. Provides a whole lot of character and charme. Tons of inspiration for other players (like me), too!
PS: good music as always!
Port Douglas remembers me where I live (Newcastle in Australia) a lot. Old townhouses, buildings from the early 1900 mixed with new modern buildings, etc. And they have a roundabout around you are thinking of adding one. That's so funny. haha
Thank you that you solving traffic normally and not like laneman
Maybe some bike paths to help with traffic?
This exactly!!
Dedicated turning lanes and lane mathematics.
i enjoyed seeing this sort of thing in your channel for a change! good work. you should use the lane arrows tool on TMPE though to control lanes rather than the lane connector as with that it is easy to accidentally force traffic onto routes they do not want to be following. Changing the lane arrows let’s traffic decide which lane of the next segment they need to follow themselves.
big improvements indeed! keep these videos coming.
Nice episode!
An oval shaped roundabout with a huge fountain in the middle would be awesome :D
Which would integrate well with an entryway to a future marina/ landmark by the beachside
Awesome vid! Good job on the traffic fixes. I think you should add more people on buildings using realistic pop. Mod I think now there are too less cars and pop. on port Douglas. Btw I love pedestrian market streets shearch on gmaps Sta. Catarina Porto- Portugal
I just discovered your channel! I love your content bro
19:39 it's quite a few poles on such a small segment
As always!
:)
Great 👍
at 12:32 you made it so cars going into the next part of that main street can only turn right. I would suggest adding another node to the segment before the next intersection and having cars in the red lane (traffic going straight) use the unoccupied lane
Your trams seem to drive way to slowly, I get the realism part of slowing m slower then vanilla, but this is way too much. In the dedicated tram right-of-way they can do 70 km/h just fine
Great video. What curb assets are you using to detail the pedestrian paths?
beautiful

I believe the lack of parking also contributes to the bad traffic in downtown
Biffa? Is it you?

Perfect 😍
🤩🤩🤩
❤️❤️
du er sq vild til det spil :D
what mod tells you if an asset is unused?
I believe it's in the settings of the Find It! mod
Hi
You have a traffic problem because lack of parking. Cars are riding around looking for parking spaces, fix that and you’ll fix the majority of your traffic problem and you won’t have to manipulate the traffic as much.
