Today's word of the day is 'bunfight'. Bunfight is a noun, mainly used in British English but has appeared in Australian English. It is used informally.
Bunfight can mean an impressive party or social event. It can also mean an angry argument over something not particularly serious.
The origin of bunfight is unclear but there is some evidence to suggest it first appeared in English in the 19th century.
Some example sentences are:
‘The annual office bunfight is always a great chance to unwind and socialize with colleagues outside of work.’
‘The charity bunfight was a huge success, raising thousands of dollars for local shelters.’
‘What started as a simple disagreement over housework quickly escalated into a full-blown bunfight.’
‘Siblings often get into little bunfights over who gets the last piece of cake.’
