🇬🇧 Located on a hill on the banks of the river Miño, the city of Lugo preserves major remains of its Roman past, among them its ancient wall, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Inside the walls, the city conserves quiet pedestrian streets, wide squares and spacious gardens, where buildings such as the Cathedral, the Archiepiscopal Palace, and the City Hall stand out.
Lugo, located in the interior of the province on the banks of the river Miño, is the Galician provincial capital in which the most significant traces of Roman civilization remain. The greatest example of the city's Roman legacy is its wall. It was built between the 3rd and 4th centuries AD in what was known at the time as Lucus Augusti. This stone construction has managed to survive the passage of the centuries and continues to be the city's most distinctive architectural feature, marking the boundary between the historic quarter and the newer area of urban expansion. The uniqueness of this ancient fortress and its good condition mean it is the only Roman wall declared a World Heritage Site.

🇪🇸 Asentada sobre un cerro a orillas del río Miño, la ciudad de Lugo conserva importantes huellas de su pasado romano, entre ellas su muralla milenaria, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco.
Intramuros, la ciudad conserva tranquilas calles peatonales, amplias plazas y espacios ajardinados, donde sobresalen edificios como la Catedral, el Palacio Arzobispal y el Ayuntamiento.
Lugo, enclavada en el interior de la provincia a orillas del río Miño, es la capital de provincia gallega en la que la civilización romana dejó una huella más importante. El máximo exponente del legado romano en la ciudad es su muralla. Construida en el siglo III d. C. y principios del siglo IV en la que entonces se denominaba Lucus Augusti, esta construcción pétrea ha conseguido sobrevivir al paso de los siglos y continúa siendo el elemento arquitectónico que define de manera decisiva el aspecto de la ciudad, marcando los límites del casco histórico y el ensanche. La singularidad de esta fortificación milenaria y su buen estado de conservación le han permitido convertirse en la única muralla romana declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad.

Nací en una aldea perteneciente al ayuntamiento de piedrafita de o Cebreiro, provincia de Lugo. Hace varios años que no visito aquellas tierras incluso la ciudad de Lugo en la que en algunas ocasiones di un paseo por la muralla y otros sitios que son hermosos y no muestra el vídeo. El parque Rosalía de Castro, unas vistas panorámicas de donde se visualiza la ribera del río Miño y otros entornos de la ciudad que también son hermosos de visitar. Me hubiera gustado verlo en el vídeo. Estoy suscrito al canal y la verdad que España dispone de muchos sitios para ver. Gracias a éste canal se pueden hacer visitas virtuales. Manuel Busto Mejia,

Hola Manuel! Ante todo darte las gracias por ver el recorrido y dejar tus impresiones. Me alegra que hayas disfrutado del recorrido por la ciudad, espero que al menos te haya servido para estar un poco más cerca de tu tierra.
La verdad es que tienes razón, Lugo tiene muchos lugares maravillosos que visitar y muchos no aparecen en el recorrido, como el parque que mencionas. Casi siempre que grabó un recorrido me queda cierta espina clavada por no haber incluido más lugares en mis recorridos, muchas veces por falta de tiempo o por no extender demasiado el recorrido o porque los lugares se encuentran lejos de la ruta. Es complicado decidir que incluir y que no. En el caso de Lugo estuve planteando hacer dos recorridos diferentes uno recorriendo la muralla y otro dentro del recinto pero por falta de tiempo lo descarte. En todo caso, espero volver pronto a la ciudad y hacer otro recorrido.

Paisano y amigo Manuel, también soy natural de Lugo, pero de la misma ciudad. Nací en el Hospital Provincial de San José en el año de 1951 y precisamente desde la atalaya del Parque de Rosalía de Castro se puede ver así como el edificio de la Casa Cuna donde me crie. Cada año suelo hacer un Camino de Santiago y en dos ocasiones he tenido el placer de pasar por tu Concello de Piedra de O Cebreiro, es una zona que me fascina y me encanta. He de decirte que abandoné Lugo en el año de 1967 y me fui a Cataluña en el año de 1969, desde entonces resido en un pueblo de Barcelona y tengo muchas ganas de volver a mi tierra. Desde Piera (Barcelona) te mando un cordial saludo.

OMG. 😖 I just spent the last half hour writing a comment on the video, and while I was writing it, my internet connection turned off. (using my phone as a hotspot) I didn't notice it, and when I tried to post the comment, it disappeared. I reconnected to the internet, and waited and waited, but no luck. Then I clicked 'back' hoping that I could retrieve it, but no! And like a fool, I didn't copy the text as I was writing it. Ugh! ☹ Well, it's too late to try to rewrite the whole thing now. By the way, every once in a while I visit your old channel and check out some of your tours, just yesterday I was watching your tour of beautiful downtown Boston covered in snow that I hadn't seen before (I guess I needed a bit of freshness after days hot we have here 😄) Great tour too! I love the mix of modern glass towers with historic buildings in downtown Boston.

@@WalkingSpain Yes, I've done it before! When will I ever learn to copy my text, every time. :) I actually did start to create a new channel, but after about 20 videos, I've stopped. It's called Boston Flight, and it's an aviation and plane spotting channel. (i've been interested in aviation since i was a kid). I bought a new Nikon Coolpix P1000 camera for it (about $1000 total). Some of those types of channels are very successful, and can grow very quickly, and I was actually thinking about it for a few years. I was starting to refine my videos, and find a good format that I liked. Some of them were getting decent views and showing some promise, but some didn't do too well. At some point, I was hoping to do live streams also. But with the format of the videos that I was doing, it was taking just too much time to be worth it. Between the time it took to shoot the video, then edit the video, then add Air Traffic Control audio, then add text about each flight - I spent almost 19 hours on one 49 minute video, and almost as much on a 34 minute video. I liked the final product, and wanted to keep refining my work, but it was just too much effort for the views that I got. So, I'm trying to think of another channel since I have this new camera now. 😉 I guess I'll keep trying. :)

Although I'm not really a big fan of aviation, which is a shame, because I lives not far from the Alicante airport and watching the planes take off just a short distance from the beach is really spectacular.
I agree with you because the same thing happens to me, my tours also require several hours of work not only to be filmed but also during editing. Fortunately for me this is a hobby, otherwise I would have given it up a long, long time ago 😄
