I think it's easier to make masculine decor look good. Pompoms, pastels and floral prints can easily end up looking cheap and tacky unless done with a bit of thought.
Hmm, I wouldn't necessarily call any style feminine or masculine or girly and manly. I'd use different adjectives instead, like cute vs sophisticated, or cosy vs minimal, vintage vs contemporary, boho vs industrial, etc. I dislike it when people associate pink, pom poms, bows, pastels, florals, extra decor and what not with women and more modern, sleek styles and decor with men. I acknowledge it exists, but it's actually something we desperately need to get rid of, because every style is a choice that anyone can make, regardless of gender. A man might love pink walls and fur throw pillows and a woman can enjoy darker palettes and elegant decor, for example. This style is MUCH closer to mine and I'm a woman as well.
@@tn-t I agree a million percent - saying that more cutesy and frivolous elements are automatically for women bothers me, and calling a sleek, functional and more dark-toned space a "masculine" space really doesn't sit well with me either. Spaces are just spaces, and in today's day and age calling a space "masculine" feels like calling pants "masculine" - if a woman wears them, what does that make her? I think we should be assuming more neutrality of things and stop gendering everything, including colors and shapes.
I'm an almost 50 year oldwife and mom of two and I'm updated my house after 17 years, so going crazy with the update/makeover vids and you are by far my favorite to watch. I wish I had the money and the power to blink you to my city and hire you! But since that won't happen, I'm getting tons of ideas and inspiration from your channel. May God bless you abundantly.
Scott is such a sweetie! He seems so genuinely surprised and thrilled. This is my fave studio fix yet! Love that you trusted your gut on that orange paint. I was getting nervous when you lifted the paint lid, but you knew what you were doing: it dried beautifully and works perfectly in the space to give some warmth and fun. Also love that you aways match your look to the space. Those earrings are so cute! Congrats to you and Allana on your vaccinations. We're still months away in Australia, so I'm very excited for you. Every person vaxxed gets us closer to a safer world, so thank you!
This looks so good! Love the orange! Now, maybe I'm just super lazy and messy, but I could never have a murphy bed, and I live in awe of people that make them work. I'd never get around to changing it back and forth.
If you live by yourself, you can totally just leave it as a bed everyday; you really only change it to a sofa when you have people over, which isn't that different from doing some cleaning and general tidying up which most people would do if they're entertaining. That being said, I wouldn't want one either lol
This is my favorite makeover you have ever done. LOVE. The only change I would make is painting the wall behind the bike the dark turquoise color Scott chose behind the bike. Make the bike silhouette into a piece of art.
I really like this series. I do wish you would talk budget more, and at least in some of the spaces, use a few of the existing pieces more (like that desk looks like it also could have folded away nicely if he addressed the clutter) and incorporate more used pieces instead of everything new.

I wish I had a third bedroom. I would definitely make it an office/ guest room and do this.
I had my doubts but Alexandra you nailed it big time!!! Congrats Scott - you were right to trust her!
I love that coffee table! I'm gonna be full time RVing and that's such a good idea for a "packable" coffee table.
That text. 🖤 Yeah how you live effects your mindset no matter who you are.
Genius! Team AG is the go2 team. Great job!🤗
I think this is my favourite so far!! What a sweet, thoughtful text.
Alexandra I love studio fix series looking forward to seeing more of them, you do amazing work in small spaces. I'm also looking forward to the renovation series of your apartment.
Finally a website I want to subscribe to!! I am a bachelor in a studio also. Men really want to have a organized functional apartment. Most of us can't juxtaposition furniture 😫. You did a great job its up to Scott to maintain. You are a real peach!
y'all did such a great job!!! basically combined 3 rooms into 1. bravo!
Beautiful job.
I looooooove it! At first I was like “he is going to have to move the sofa each time?” Oh, naive, naive little me. 😂
You're becoming an absolute addiction! I love how you do amazing things with small spaces. I know you mostly buy/make the unusual pieces you use, but please consider taking a few hours each week to tour your local thrift stores. You can find treasures there as well as slightly worn-just-need-a-little-varnish things. Tons of books and vases and candle holders. My man and I have scored vintage Pyrex mixing bowls which work superbly and are great for kitchen decoration. You're going great!
This looked so awesomeee!! And scott’s reaction is so cute aww
Such a great little studio apt, and such a gorgeous make over, that burnt orange is one of my favorite colors, I had my dinning room painted that color for a long time!!
Beautiful job! The Murphy bed/couch is brilliant. Also the coffee table is cool. What a happy space it is now! 👍
Amazing!!!
The murph bed is genius for a small space! Love it all!
it would have been great if you added artwork at the back of the murphy bed!
I understand that "beautiful artwork" that's beneath the TV is an opinion, but the one on the left reminds me of termite tunnels on wood.
This is my favorite of all your work, Alexandra. Functional. Minimal. And you retained a lot of his previous possessions, so it still felt like his own space!
This has got to me one of my favorite makeover yet!! It is just so satisfying how everything worked out so PERFECTLY!! It’s like all of these pieces were made for this space! You really outdid yourself on this one 👏👏👏👏
This is top 3 videos that you and your star-studded Team AG have ever accomplished! Absolutely love !
wow!!! this turned out amazing! :) love the wall colour, all the decor and the murphy bed! amazing job AG team!
you are an amazing problem solver. you didn't say no to all your client wanted and you made it happen! bravo!
