I think you will need to speak to Suzuki re. getting a GSX-8R loaner, not Yamaha 😉
Yes that would help!! Slip of the tongue of course.....
Makes our Andy more human 😂.
Twice in a row too😂
That's because he really wants to ride the R9, not the 8R ;)
@@iamtherealzombie He said he does love a triple 🤔
As speed cameras and potholes multiply ever faster, buying an expensive sports bike seems an increasingly difficult decision to justify.
That silver Honda 400 brought back a whole bunch of great memories tearing around on my then new 1982 CB900F back in the day... I loved it in that livery, and it had a quality of fit and finish that was the best in it's time. I rode it hard for 16,000 miles in two years before moving on to a Suzuki 1100 Katana.
Nice...
I went from a 1981 CB900C to a 1989 GSXR1100F Katana.
My dad still owns a CB900F Supersport. Only issue was washy forks up front, used to shake it's head when ridden hard. The new bikes look good though
That was a beautiful bike!
Kawasaki has the Z900rs se that looks so close.
Great summary vid as always and looking forward to the upcoming vids especially the adaptive ride height. Cheers
Stay tuned Philip!
Thanks for doing Chapters.
Very grateful !
Love the news thank you.
Glad you like them!
Always a good watch Andy. Also saved me the cost of four MCN’s. Winner winner! Cheers mate. 😉🙏
So much more in MCN than covered here, well worth buying and reading.
Very interesting indeed Andy particularly that 500 4 Honda, sounds like my cup of tea. Its just a pity its not an updated CB750 4 now that would be something.
February always feels like the longest month of the year even though it is the shortest, thank goodness it is finally over. A nice cheeky update of the month Andy, here is to the months getting warmer, drier and more bikey!
Amen to that!
Enjoyed the news. Also Nice of you to include the date of publishing, so many vidéos on here where you can’t tell how old they are.
Thanks for that Andy another month gone blimey !! Hope the shoulder is getting better with hopefully warmer & dryer weather coming up.
My pleasure - and thanks (sadly my shoulder is getting worse and I am now awaiting another operation).....
Thanks for the update Andy, taking the Rocket 3r for the brake recall tomorrow so fingers crossed it will stay dry
Great stuff, Andy - some real gems in there! Those new Hondas look great. I hope you get a ride on the new MT if nothing but to hear how well your mic picks up the sound of the air intake… Thanks for keeping us nicely abreast of industry developments. Love this feature of the channel.
Cheers Jez!
Thanks TMF, the Honda 400/4 would be right up my miss-spent street, a blast from the past, i guess?
Excellent Andy . I do look forward to these reviews of the latest news 😄👍
Glad you like them!
Hope the shoulder is on the mend.thanks for all the great content.👍
Sadly it's not - I need another operation and I'm just now waiting for a date :0(
Excellent as always. Thanks Andy!
My pleasure!
Loves a bit of bike news Andy ( especially when on holiday 😀) so thank you very much for bringing it to us 👍
Oh my days........ I'm praying that Honda puts that stunning replica into Production 🙏
All the best mate
Russ 😎
I always enjoy bike news, simple concept but it works!
There’s always the lounge option once the garage is full, I’m sure Mrs F would understand/comply 👍
Clearly you don't know Mrs F!!
Andy: "Now I'm getting older" 🤣 I ride with a bloke who is 89 yo!
Amazing - I hope I'm riding then (in fact I hope I make it to 89!)
@@TheMissendenFlyer seriously, I'm only 70 - the other five vary from 76 to 89. We did the Manx last year, and a Spanish rally later this year. Ex-instructor so not a shabby rider either!
Fantastic Andy always good to watch 😊
Regards
Dave from Scotland
Many thanks!
Enjoying your program from South Africa
Cool!
Thanks again for the updates!
🍻🍻🍻
No problem 👍
Interesting episode as ever. Looking forward to you reviewing the GSX8R as I just bought one! Haven't picked it up yet but hopefully very soon. Having fun & games with the insurance as it's so new, it isn't on the underwriters databases yet so apparently it doesn't exist. The computer says no! Shame about the R1 but the R9 looks interesting. Hoping Suzuki may think about bringing back the GSXR750 if the R9 does well.
TTS Performance has a great UA-cam channel. Richard, who owns the business is a great character. Their Superbusa is amazing, but they also do a great supercharger kit for the Triumph Rocket.
great channel , thanks Andy
Thanks for watching!
Entertaining as always mate!
Much appreciated!
Nice one Andy thanks...
Very welcome
Hi Andy. Sports bike that I find comfortable is my Ducati Supersport S. I am 64 and lucky to have a lot of bikes but my Supersport with twin Akro’s sticking out the back is one of my favourites. Lovely sound, quickshifter and all the power you need. 😀👍
I hope that Honda do produce a retro CB400/500, I had a CB400/4 back in the late 70s and would have another one in a heartbeat.
Looks good, doesn’t it!
My thoughts 😉; SuperMotos are a blast, I keep a DR-Z SuperMoto around just because it’s such fun to ride around town for short errands. Having owned a number of KTM’s over the years, I must admit the new headlight on the big Dukes looks like what’s left after the crash 😳. Lastly, we’re seeing more reviews of “older” less expensive bikes……I’m wondering if it’s a sign of “sticker shock” from new as well as seasoned riders 🤔?!
I’m so glad I kept my ‘91 VFR750! 🏍️👍🇿🇦
Oh, that Honda CB-F styling from the 80'! Yes, please!
You got to have a go on the Hyper 698.. Its so much fun, so comfy, nimble and just a blast - brings back the riding joy!
Hi TMF.
Thanks for the interesting bike news. At last month's bike news you mentioned a video coming up comparing the GS1300 with the GS1250. ?
Yep - that's scheduled for April the 6th....sorry for the wait.
Always love the content Andy
Much appreciated
Informative as always Andy. How’s that shoulder doing?
Not great thanks Jon - just waiting on a date now for the second operation....thanks for asking!
@@TheMissendenFlyer well that's unfortunate, hopefully they will get things figured out with the second surgery!
Brilliant as always Mr TMF. I would buy one of those BMW Cruisers purely for the engineering and I think they will become a bit of a classic as not many people are buying them! Problem is I can't fit comfortably because of the cylinder heads and no forward controls. Invested in a ten year old Triumph Thunderbird 1600 instead for a bit of fun.
Get in touch with Ducati. Would love to see you review the Hypermotard. Just purely for fun factor 👍👍
Definitely get the the Ducati for a test ride
Hi Andy, at 31:46 in your Bike News, you mentioned Mrs Flyer comparing the new R1300 Pillion ride to the “out-going GS”😮. Was that a slip of the tongue, or are you trying to tell us something? 😂 . Met you at ABR 2022, couldn’t make 2023, but will be there this year. Cheers for the great Channel and all the hard work you put in…
I think you’re reading too much into this! I meant “outgoing” as in the outgoing model….see you at ABR!
Interesting as usual. There is one bike which compares very well to the big Classic American tourer's. The Goldwing. The older ones were even made in America.
Indeed....
I miss my old Peugeot 106 diesel. Nothing to do with this video I know, but I just thought I would throw it in there...
Hi Andy cracking upload as usual is there a review of the moto guzzi v100 mandello coming in the near future love to hear your thoughts many thanks ian
I wish! Sadly I don't have access to them.....
Enjoyed that as ever Andy 👍
Cheers John!
You can really see manufactures bringing out more 400 > 600cc retro bikes which is great news, as the bigger bikes are just getting far too fast and we just don't have the roads for them in the UK. I fully agree that riding a small bike fast is better than riding a fast bike slow 🙂
I find it most enjoyable riding a fast bike slow. You can really feel that torque. Even at the slower speed. And the power at low rpm Makes a ride more relaxed.
I've owned GS550, KZ1000, LTD750 & BANDIT600, all 4s & all great bikes, so yay on Honda....
I think the longer maintenance periods on the Ducati V4 is helping.... (Although I love my 1260 even with the desmo services)
Hi Andy, back in the day the Honda Superdream was produced up to the 250 learner limit capacity and was ok.
Myself and 2 friends negotiated a discount price for 3 new bikes, two 250s and a 400 for me as I’d past my test.
The difference between the bikes was enormous, it seemed the bike was designed as a 400, but Honda had installed a smaller bored engine for the UK market, it was the same engine but altered bore.
Hence, same weight but much more powerful and a premium paint job….a dream of a bike !
Well until someone’s careless driving knocked me off and wrote the bike off.
The CB250N Superdream was the first "big bike" I ever rode on!
Soft sports bike reviews, yes please! Love the look of a sports bike or a proper sports tourer (with emphasis on sports).
Noted!
oh yeah and.....I had a Honda 400 Four back in the day.....small capacity 4 cylinders.....YES PLEASE! :-)
Totally agree with your opinion of the triumph rs, clip ons, although raised are not what riders want on a naked bike, I had them on my moto 2 & would have much preferred the standard bar position 👊✊️✊️
Let's hope they don't spoil a great bike....
Some riders do think high bars on naked sport bikes look and feel really silly though.
I wonder how the retro Honda 400 will compare to the 400/4 I rode around Edinburgh and Kenya. It took me on dodgy roads from Nairobi to Mombasa, Siaya and even Mt Elgon national park. Now I ride an Experia.
Hi Andy, like you had to reluctantly sell my lovely Panigale, just to radical on body after 15 mins! Still lust after something though, still fancy an older Honda VFR800 like Richy, but this R9 could strike right note… good stuff as usual, cheers Martin from Suffolk
Yes looks good doesn't it - the Triumph Daytona may also scratch that itch.....
13:40 You had actually mentioned Triumph in the second story. 🤣I'm with you on that new sporty Suzuki. I remember thinking a couple of years ago that they had nothing I was interested in other than the Hayabusa. Now every release is interesting.
That 400cc Honda has to replace the four cylinder V-Tec equipped CB400 that pretty much everyone in Japan learns to ride on. They've ceased production on those now, but I think the current one looks way better than those renders.
I'm picking up a 2024 ZX14R next week. Big inline 4's will be gone soon. Even here in the US. They're not going to keep making them for a market this small. So I've decided to get one more. This time the big girl.
Another great, informative review of lots of different bikes in MCN. Yes, the Honda does look fab, interested to see the battle with the Triumph 400x. As for the battle of the 'blackouts' having never riden a Harley, or an Indian, IMHO if I was to have one it would be the Indian every time. Looking forward to more great context ths month.
Thank you as ever Gary.....
I agree with you regarding the ugly look of the tank on the frame thing, although, oddly enough, sometimes it works eg, check out the side profile of the Triumph Sprint?? Just depends on the overall shape I guess 🤔
Agreed....
Please get a go on the little Hypermotard, looks a fun bike!
also, i sat on a R18 at the MCN show and i like the idea of a cruiser cos i am quite tall but found the R18 no good for me cos the engine gets in the way, i want my legs stretched out but can't on the R18, not for me sadly.
I was hoping to fit on the R12 cruiser but i didn't!
ironically i fitted perfectly on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650! which are both a fraction of the price of the small R12
Another excellent monthly review (I always enjoy them) couple of points , Superbike Factory appear to have stopped sponsoring all the Vloggers so your not on your own , I understand from industry people that times are hard at at SBF hence the cheque book being slammed shut, on the Honda 400CC retro front , I would be up for one, back in the day I loved my old CB400N Superdream, on the demise of the R1, we may well lose it in the UK & Europe however you will be able to buy one across the pond in the USA, you can still buy a brand new 24 model ZZR1400, GSXR750 and an FJR1300 so there is hope for for hard core R1 fans.
Sounds good Ian - and yes I wasn’t singled out by SBF for sure….thanks for watching!
the Honda retro reminds me of the 1980s Honda Super Dream 250 and the smaller version Honda 125 Twin T.
Yes, me too.
Super dream 250 did seem like a very grown up bike at the time but then again it was the same as the 400 dream really. I would have preferred a cb250 rs deluxe. But they look rather pathetic now.
Excellent vid. A comparison between the new Daytona and 8R would be great. I'm seriously considering both. They should both be good for fast touring on motorways, as well as fun on back roads.
Yes I'm looking forward to trying both of them....
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Yes please, a hypermotard bike test/review! 😀
Noted!
Hi Andy like the show as always I have a question for you if you had to make a decision about a bike as you like the classic naked look which would you choose between a suzuki gsx14 or yamaha xjr thanks dave
Yamaha for me!
Another great one. In your defense, the Suzuki was blue! 🤣 Love the Bike News!
Thanks for that, Bob!
I would be very interested in you reviewing/riding the new GSX-8R or any 'soft' sports bike. I don't imagine I'll get one but you never know....I like the look of them and if they're easy to ride for us old boys thats great. As ever thanks for the review of MCN Andy.
Well that's kind of my thinking!
That new single cylinder Ducati at 11000...I would buy a used KTM 690 instead! A Duke or SMC. Hey, buy both! Such a lovely bike!
Thank you mr Flyer.
Hi Andy. I own a BMW R18 from new 2020, here in the Uk. I've had no issues riding it all over the UK , including commuting and mountain passes. I don't find it in the slightest problematic. Changed from Harley big Twin and found it to be a lot better all round.
Yes, well, I guess it’s all relative Nigel!
I had both the 500 and 1100 rebels when I first passed my test and loved them! Yes they're not to everyone's tastes, only reason I chopped it in as I had opportunity to get my 2018 goldwing for a steal!
Good move! ...and quite a trade!!
@TheMissendenFlyer was one of the best moves I've done! Day after I bought it I did a day tour of Isle of Wight, and mid April I'm doing 2 weeks around the NC500! Can't wait!
Big ol beast for the Applecross pass!! Enjoy (fabulous route)
Great work as per usual. Hey have you ever done a test if yhe Aprilia Tuareg 660? I pick mine up in 7 hours 56 and a half minutes. Apparently it's an excellent bike. Keeping the gs because they are such a good bike.
No I've never even seen one for real!
@TheMissendenFlyer great I've set you a challenge. Apparently the mid weight adv market is the fasterest growing segment atm. I've picked it up and it's a cracker.
Can honda make a cbr 400 or nsr styled 400 retro racer please. Maybe rothmans paintwork.
This rain is running my mind. So depressing. Been out a couple of times but still a bit cold for me. I have a 8 degree benchmark. Anything below that then forget it. I noticed you went North Wales to that great Airbnb and you where riding in 2Celius 🤯
You must have some impressive gear. In fact I know you have. I go for the layering solution. I wear a baselayer (merino wool), then a Rab down jacket or down Gillet, then I wear a Klim mesh jacket, I also wear a rain jacket sometimes to act as a windproof layer and of course rain jacket. The beauty of this is it packs away. In the summer I can strip off and just wear the Klim, feels great to feel the elements blasting through your body. Feels like wearing a T shirt without the anxiety.
Please do another gear review of what you wear. We love those 🎉
Yeah I may do that - sounds like you have a similar layering up approach as me....
@TMF they are called the Superbike Factory to mask the fact that they are the retail arm of 'We Buy Any Bike', which doesn't have the best reputation.
Hmmm....is that true?
Just a finance firm aren’t they
Claim they check their bikes over ready to sell but rarely even wash them
Not saying there isn’t any good bikes there but you have to know your stuff not to be stuck with a lemon
Yes I think you may be right there.....
I understand that too, after a conversation with a sales rep, it being part of the same group. What I didn't expect is no test rides, particularly after watching the Bennetts Social series on a variety of rider's looking for a new bike going for test rides on three suggested bikes. I watched them all, contacted WeBuyAnyBike about a bike and sent my trade-in details & photos and was told No Test Rides!. So have NOT used them then...
@@jmileshc Fair enough - I wouldn't buy wihout a test ride either! ...or a guarantee of my money back if I didn't like it on the first ride (so the same thing really)....
I've seen some very positive reviews of the Voge 300 Rally.
I've heard it has the same engine as the Kawasaki KLX 300
Hi Andy , you mentioned that Sports Super Bike Factory aren't sponsoring you anymore, which is a shame as the reviews of older bikes was always interesting to I guess us oldies. Trip down memory lane. Would there be mileage in reviewing viewers old bikes as I'm sure there are many of us out there who have some really nice historical bikes. Not sure about the logistics of this though ? Cheers
Well, I tried that in the past Simon through my old “readers rides” series. Whilst the videos got good views, and I enjoyed making them, they were pretty difficult to do logistically.
that honda retro bike looks absolutely fantastic
Doesn’t it just, thanks for watching.
Yes I’m of the same age as you Andy and you hit the nail on the head I love the look of all the super bikes but my wrists and back do not, these new comfier gsx8 and the like are the best of both worlds for us average riders 👍
Glad we concur Stevo
Great review Andy, but when are you testing the Triumph Speed and Scrambler 400`s?. I`ve tested them already, and have ordered a Speed 400, so, if you have`nt tested them by June, you can borrow mine 😂.
Just as soon as Triumph has them on the test fleet!
the ktm head light on the 990 and the 1290 looks amazing. Finally a front that is a real change from the norm. if you can get past the front end on the 1300 gs because the bike is so good, then you need to do the same for the ktm. That 990 really looks like an amazing bike for the road too...
Trouble is I can't!
I love the look of the retro Honda, I would definitely be interested in one of those, it reminds me of my first bike, a Honda CB125T, I loved that bike, the SuperBusa made me laugh when I realised it has 300 Bhp more than my Tenere. If you don't mind me asking, what monitor do you have on your desk?
It's a Samsung (I think G90 from memory) on an ergotron arm....
Interesting that with Ducati sales figures but that due to lease and PCP being more available through Ducati dealers?. Keep up the good reviews👍.
May be!
The 400 or 500cc four cylinder Honda retro sounds fantastic, I'd buy one but sure we won't get anything like that in the states, so enjoy Europe!
I wonder if the speed triple RS with clip ons and rear sets could be a test mule for a faired sports bike? Just a thought.
Wouldn't it be good to see a big sports bike from Triumph....I can't see it happenning though.
The BMW R18s seem to be selling fairly well at my local dealership. I live deep in the heart of Harley country ,too.
Interesting!
As a 50-something rider, I’m definitely interested in “softer sport bikes” where comfort but sporty appearance are the priorities.
I've been investigating the possibility of a gr750 Honda. I think that new engine in a classic would be fantastic.
GB750 is the retro, CL750 is the proposed scrambler...not seeing a big catalytic converter, it makes me think it's just for the Asian markets?
I think a fun future for manufacturers would be small bikes... that DON'T skimp. They always seem to make you choose between "small engine", and "well-made". If they made small-displacement bikes that are lower, and slower, maybe for starters, or smallish people, but that don't lack all the things you could have on their nicer bikes. that'd be fantastic. Charge me more! Its fine. If BMW made a 400cc GS that isn't glued together with spare pig iron parts, if they actually took their time and made it nice, imagine how many they'd sell. A renaissance of small displacement screamers from the big 4 again. Yamaha with crossplane r4. Then Honda welcomes back a 400cc v4. Kawi, you guys just keep doing what you're doing, actually. Aprilia has precedent, as does Ducati. KTM is halfway there already now in 2024. Itd be a hilarious, fun future. It sucks you have to choose between "insurable in the city" and "well-appointed".
I couldn’t agree more Joe, let’s hope the manufacturers read this!
Wonder if there’s a tipping-point where optimization of internal combustion engined motorcycles just can’t get meaningfully better? If so, how would we know if we’re balancing on that point right now?
Maybe we are....
@@TheMissendenFlyer It seems motorcycle reviews and advertising increasingly focus on aesthetics, parts and “character” more than performance. Maybe bikes have evolved to the point that the skills (and roads) we have makes reporting on performance secondary to how they look? In any case, lucky consumers!
The Honda looks like the CBX1000 supersport from the 70-80s
One of the best sounding bikes ever made😁
Don't you think it resembles the cb900 and 750 not the cbx1000.
@@trevjones1315 It looks like all of the CB models TBH (apart from the massive 6 cylinder engine in the CBX1000)
I think the Chinese bikes already have a hold in the UK market. The Kove 450 Rally is very highly thought of, and they are going bigger with the 800X. Also, I believe the CF MOTO bikes are selling well.
You should have a look at the Zontes range of bikes,
Do you still have your red bmw gs Andy? I kind of like the early ones like yours.
I do indeed and she's going nowhere!
Soft sport bike reviews would be very welcome.
Yes I do fancy a go I must say so stay tuned for later in the year (after my next shoulder operation)....
Hi Andy waiting with baited breath for next r1300gs episode holding off placing order till I have your final thoughts or keep r1250 final edition many thanks ian
Lots more to come over the next month or so!
Good luck getting you leg across a 904mm seat height 👍🏻
With the new R1300GS seeming to skew more towards the proper off road capabilities, and the Multistrada leaning more towards a sport touring bike these days, I could absolutely see a decent segment of riders that would've normally gone for the GS going for the Multi instead.
I disagree that the new GS is tending more off-road! It's tending more towards multistrada (but minus the stunning looks!)
The BMW R18: very cool motor but if you cant kick your feet forward its a non starter as a cruiser.
Ofc I had to check if the connected ride was compatible with the RT... NO :'(
Oh dear! I'm surprised at that.....
If translated the Hayabusa is the Peregrine (Blackbird killer) does that make the SuperBusa the “SuperGrin”
Omg that 400/4 is styled on 81-83 CB750 FA/FB, and coming in candy red, had one in 86 after passing my test, to who do i pay the deposit
i do love looking at sport bikes but like you im older now so been there and done that im more for comfort now :)
Having used radar cruise control its something i can live without im not a fan
It's one of the new GS1300's best features I reckon! Used it today to rest my dodgy arm - great in traffic.....
